Paul hits back at Cheney: ‘He’s caused a lot of trouble’ for the U.S., so it’s ‘best he not be so critical.’By Amanda Terkel on Jan 5th, 2010 at 2:35 pm Ron Paul hits back at Cheney: ‘He’s caused a lot of trouble’ for the U.S., so it’s ‘best he not be so critical.’
Yesterday on CNN’s Larry King Live, Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) sharply criticized former Vice President Cheney — a member of his own Party — for throwing stones at President Obama on national security:

KING: All right, Congressman Paul, what about — he’s in — he’s in your party. What about Dick Cheney’s complaints?

PAUL: Well, I think he had his eight years and he’s caused a lot of trouble for our country and he perpetuated a war in Iraq that was unnecessary and wrong-headed. So I would say that it would be best he not be so critical right now. But I’m still not only critical of that policy — I think the policy remains the same and we’ve hear it on the show tonight already. They — they are going to attack us and they’ve declared war against us. And it’s always they and them. But — but who are they?

You know, after 9/11, 14 or 15 of the terrorists came from Saudi Arabia. I mean we didn’t attack Saudi Arabia, we attacked Iraq. So it — it doesn’t make sense.
On Sunday, White House Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Adviser John Brennan said that either the “vice president or others have willfully mischaracterized President Obama’s position and actions or they’re just ignorant of the facts,” referring to Cheney’s comments that because of the failed Christmas Day bombing attempt, it was clear that Obama “is trying to pretend we are not at war.” In an op-ed today, Rep. Rush Holt (D-NJ) writes that it’s “Cheney, not President Obama, who has misdiagnosed the problem and gotten us off track.”

that's for sure.

here's something else that don't make no sense.

by way of the Constitution? the congress has to declare war in order to have an "enemy combatant".

so far? Congress has yet to declare war, but we have a whole load of "enemy combatants".

it ain't right.

I have to agree with Ron Paul on this. Obama is our President, we have to have faith in his ability to keep us safe.

I may not like his domestic policies but we only have one commander and chief and he has to have our full support on defense of our country.
