that sucks, and it will be the downfall of the Dems "again" if it gets to a vote...

IN GENERAL- It shall be unlawful for any person other than a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, licensed dealer, or licensed collector to possess a qualifying firearm on or after the applicable date, unless that person has been issued a firearm license--

You see this is why I do not vote Democrat. They are anti-gun. Just look what glassman points out. This is sick, and basically liberals want to wipe their ass with the second amendment.

Hogwash!

You are a pure Party line far right-wing evangelical hater of the first order and would happily vote for Adolph Hitler or the Devil if they claimed to be republican.

Notice you do not disagree with the main point, and that is Democrats are anti-gun for the most part. Any chance they get to regulate, or sneak in legislation to make it harder for the sportsman. Instead, you just go on your usual rant and rave.

I was just using that as an example glass. I know the 2nd amendment was formed to protect the people against a over reaching government. Something the Obama administration seems to be all about.

One thing for sure, you cant argue Obama doesnt want bigger government. Just look what is unfolding in front of us.

all politicians do...

Obama is no different in that sense than any other politician, the ones that tell you they aren't are liars.

this law won't fly:

it means that by owning a gun, you would you give up the right to be free from unreasonable searches.

SEC. 403. INSPECTIONS.

In order to ascertain compliance with this Act, the amendments made by this Act, and the regulations and orders issued under this Act, the Attorney General may, during regular business hours, enter any place in which firearms or firearm products are manufactured, stored, or held, for distribution in commerce, and inspect those areas where the products are so manufactured, stored, or held.

That's another lie on top of the one where you hunt for the extremes in political discourse and declare it to be democratic. Mostly in densely populated area there are those that advocate passing laws to restrict the owning and using of firearms, republicans as well as democrats. I don't agree with any of it (though I might accept it as reasonable to make it illegal for you and yours to own or use howitzers and a-bombs close to my quarters).

Again "You are a pure Party line far right-wing evangelical hater of the first order and would happily vote for Adolph Hitler or the Devil if they claimed to be republican."

It should occur to some politically lackey-like name calling simple minded fools, that there may be among the whole herd of Congressmen and women, some cleaver enough to, in order to appease the cries of the teaming masses, write bills claiming and even appearing to satisfy the extremes, but so worded that, should they gain approval by Congress and then are signed by the president, will be rejected by the courts as not valid in law.

There is a lot more to the "science" of legislation than some folks can comprehend.

yer squawkin'

Bobby Rush of Chicago wrote it...

Bobby Lee Rush (born November 23, 1946) is an American politician from Illinois. A Democrat, he has served in the United States House of Representatives as the member from Illinois' 1st congressional district since 1993. Rush's district is located principally on the South Side of Chicago.

In the 2000 Democratic primary for the U.S. House of Representatives (IL-01), Rush defeated a challenge from then-state senator Barack Obama.

Though a very close friend to Bill Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton, Rush announced early on that he would support Barack Obama in the 2008 primaries, and later his presidential campaign.

interesting:

In 1968 Bobby Rush went AWOL from the US Army, co-founded the state's Black Panther Party and later was honorably discharged.
In 1969, Bobby Rush served six months in prison for illegal possession of firearms.

TRUE assault weapons are already banned. Blaming a material object for the actions of a human being is a farse.

Disarming citizens while the criminals do what they want regardless of law does not make sense. The Dems will dig their own grave on this one.

no. the bill is in committee, there's no way of knowing what, if anything will come out of committee..

the point is that there is a strong anti-gun movement in the Democrat party, and it will bite them in the azz if they allow it to thrive.

the thing that i can't stand is how the parties use these games (yes games) to trade for the money they want for their pet projects....

not exactly illegal, but let's just say that if i have a spare 15,000$ i can buy this real assult weapon, and i have to have special permit, and it is tightly regulated.... these are not being smuggled across the border:

 -

HK 51 A3 308 (who needs a flamethrower?)

furthermore? guns like this are not common in the US. HK is a German Manuf. and many variants are made in Europe, and even Iran.

real assualt rifles are not an American problem at all.

USA makes many fine assault rifles as well glass. The one below is just one of many made in the US.

that's not an assault rifle unless it's select fire, it's simply a funny looking carbine otherwise..

select fire still requires a special permit and tax stamp for any exchange...

DSA makes alotof "assault looking" guns for wannabe's, but they aren't assault rifles.

they even have few collectables...

got a spare 30 grand for a real Thompson?

Under "Standard Configuration", the second entry is "Semi-auto or Select Fire".

And I think the statuary definition includes any "rifle" with a detachable magazine, which also appears in the list under "Standard Configuration".

you see? they want to make any carbine into an assault rifle and then ban them...

detachable magazine? i can load a non-detachable magazine as fast as a detachable magazine with a stripper clip.....

a non-select fire model is not an assualt rifle..

and a 10-22 is not an assault rifle either.

a bayonet lug does not make and assault rifle neither does a flash suppressor..

an assault rifle is what you would expect your OWN troops to have when you send them to storm the enemy gates. nothing less...
changing the names around doesn't change the facts.

semiautomatic guns are not "automatic guns" and carbines are not assault rifles, no matter what they look like.

you won't be buying the select fire model of that gun with anything less than a tax stamp and special permit... they are not commonly available to just anybody.

Yeah, and a double action revolver is as automatic as is an Army .45, but they don't have the sense to notice. In fact, in military lingo, neither is an automatic, though one is an autoloader; the other I guess is an already loaded.

Gotta remember that all this variety of crap, anti and pro abortion, and other "causes" is put out to divert attention from things that actually are serious and make real differences, so the casual politico watcher spins his wheels on being angry and never questions the real things that remain out of view to his periscope.

Yes, and they're also idiots to put cap and trade in the budget. Raising utility costs for already stressed Americans is not going to make them happy! Obama's looking like a one termer and he's only been in office for a month!

"Dirty" industries like electric utilities that utilize coal fired power plants will be required to buy credits. The cost of those credits will be passed on to the consumer. Or they can spend a fortune to buy equipment to make their process cleaner, the cost of which will also be passed onto the consumer. Cap and trade will be a DISASTER for the country!

see my problem here?

i paid a premium for electricity this year even tho Nat gas (the fuel) dropped:

http://www.wtrg.com/daily/small/ngfclose.gif

Entergy says review of fuel policy is favorable
By TIMOTHY R. BROWN , 02.11.09, 03:51 PM EST
pic

Entergy Corp. says an independent review of a state policy shows the company's fuel adjustment practices are fair even though customers in Mississippi were forced to pay nearly $40 million too much for electricity in 2007.

Outside utility expert Walter Drabinski, president of Cudjoe Key, Fla.-based Vantage Consulting Inc., reviewed the policy, which allows electric utilities to predict the price of the fuel they need to make electricity before actually buying it.

The policy came under scrutiny last year when Entergy Mississippi (nyse: EMO - news - people ) raised the adjustment 28 percent from July to September based on the projected price of natural gas.

the worst part is that we don't get our money back and they keep on raising the prices even when nat gas goes down..

look at the chart carefully and tell me how much nat gas went up?

LOL...

what's even more screwed up is that i can go dig up dozens of "conservative" GOP politicians swearing that deregulation would increase competition and that we would get cheaper electricity, and i got some little blue pills.....

cap and trade will force competition..
