course, I could be full of sh!t... [Eek!]

Well JR...if you are insinuating that I am a racist, you ARE full of sh!t. I could care less about the color of ones skin, gender or religion.

I am looking for INTEGRITY in a candidate...and I am NOT seeing it in Obama or McCain, and certainly not Billary.

Obama has problems now, and that is just the way it is...right or wrong.

It will now be impossible for him to convince people that he "didn't know about" his pastors beliefs...and it is too late for him to denounce them.

Credibility and Integrity are lost...

i could post this crap all day long...

it didn't hurt Bush or Reagan did it?

Glassman...you can quote all of the far right extremists that you want all day long...but that won't change the way people are going to view this...

It just solidifies the fact that there are whacked out extremists on both sides of the fence, and one is no more or less dangerous than the other.

LOL...she would NEVER get my vote either!

At this point, it really doesn't matter if Obama really is a racist or not...he put his credibility on the line the other night by stating that he was "not aware" of his pastors beliefs...if it comes to light that he was indeed present at one or more of the many hate speech sermons his pastor gave...it's game over.

and regardless of whether he was or wasn't present...a large number of people are still NOT going to believe that he was unaware of what was going on at his church.

That is exactly why politicians are getting away with murder and acting so pompous about it...

We don't hold them accountable for their actions for more than 2 weeks...and they know it!

Why would they be honest and act with integrity...when we don't demand it from them?

any Trekkies out there? [Big Grin]
Ferengi Rules of Acquisition:

# Once you have their money ... never give it back.
# Never pay more for an acquisition than you have to.
# Never allow family to stand in the way of opportunity.
# A man is only worth the sum of his possessions. (From Enterprise, episode "Acquisition"; sloppy script-writing, as rule 6 (see above) was already given in DS9)
# Keep your ears open.
# Small print leads to large risk.
# Opportunity plus instinct equals profit.
# Greed is eternal.
# Anything worth doing is worth doing for money.
# A deal is a deal ... until a better one comes along.
# A wealthy man can afford anything except a conscience.
# Dignity and an empty sack is worth the sack.
# Never allow doubt to tarnish your love of latinum.
# When in doubt, lie.
# Deep down everyone's a Ferengi.
# Even in the worst of times someone turns a profit.
# Know your enemies ... but do business with them always.
# No good deed ever goes unpunished.

Wright's rhetoric is racist and very hateful -
He preaches hate and that is not Christian...

It is true there is a bitterness in the African community but it is astonishing that so many ae still stuck in the past..
It is easier to blame then to accept responsibility and move on- And, to continue to preach this mode of being and thinking is self-destructive...

Words are powerful - remember that speech?

Obama listened to Wrights words for 20 years and embraced them by attending the church, and also exposing his two young daughters to this hateful rhetoric.
What is interesting it took Obama 2 days to denounce Imus and say it is damaging to African Americans and also his 2 daughters. Imus was wrong in his comments but he had the decency to aologize and attone-

I do not think his speech fixed the Wright issue.
He can denounce his racist political views now but his credibility is lost. Obama by his deeds shows he is disengenous.

He wants to unify this country yet held Wright in high regard until last Friday? Wright is very divisive and instills hate to his followers...
If we listen to hate rhetoric that becomes a part of us---

And there is no context fo saying G damn america - That is simply wrong and un-american--

This land gave him a platform which he has abused and for a political leader to sit and listen to the hate is alarming.

I think it is too late for Obama - even though he may get the democratic nominee - only because so late in game-
-political suicide for him in general election-

i think the real question is whether young people continue to be interested in voting or not.

Obama is half white and half black, he's had to tolerate racism from both sides his whole life. he's had no choice but tolerate it or he'd be alone.

Falwell and Robertson both basically said the same thing about 9-11 and even when Katrina hit, they may not have said g-dm America, but they did say God was punishing us which is (more or less) the same thing.

I do sympathize with him - I do think he is an eloquent speaker and intelligent but too liberal, etc.. for me--

Racism is ugly whether white or black racism- that is my point--

It should not be tolerated in our society--
We have made progress and I am sure more is to be made -

However, I think the hate speeches, supports a negative mentality and propagates the victim role---
It also is very divisive for our country--

I think Wright is harming those that listen becaue he propagates self-enslavement---anger and hate are self-destructive--

Also, I am not Barack, but I think we all have adversity in our personal lives and in our history-

But, our attitude hence, mentality can overcome it or we can get stuck in and play the victim---
Who we are and become is ONLY limited by our own limitations-
Also, it maybe that the biggest issue Barack faced/faces is ABANDONMENT by his father.

And, this impacts his search, etc---

you see? we do agree 100% on this.

but? i have to admit i have never confronted my elder family members about their racist slurs. i knew we had no choice but to simply be patient and allow change to happen as it can.

The US Military was the first large scale desegregation project in the US...

Executive Order 9981: Desegregation of the Armed Forces, 1948
By United States Army
Aug 10, 2006, 10:54pm

On 26 July 1948, President Harry S Truman signed Executive Order 9981, establishing the Presidens Committee on Equality of Treatment and Opportunity in the Armed Services. It was accompanied by Executive Order 9980, which created a Fair Employment Board to eliminate racial discrimination in federal employment.
Segregation in the military services did not officially end until the Secretary of Defense announced on 30 September 1954 that the last all-black unit had been abolished. However, the presidens directive put the armed forces (albeit reluctantly) at the forefront of the growing movement to win a fully participatory social role for the natios African-American citizens.

The true fulfillment of the entire scope of Executive Order 998equality of treatment and opportunitactually required an additional change in Defense Department policy. This occurred with the publication of Department of Defense Directive 5120.36 on 26 July 1963, 15 years to the day after Truman signed the original order. This major about-face in policy issued by Secretary of Defense Robert J. McNamara expanded the militars responsibility to include the elimination of off-base discrimination detrimental to the military effectiveness of black servicemen.

I agree with Obama on the subject of racism.

One thing that is coming out a lot anymore is the racism in the black community and I think it is great that we have a popular leader that has experienced it from both sides and like me he acknowledeged that it is not only wrong but disgusting to see and hear.

I know that in my life I have known many a good and kind persons that were white but down inside they were racist.

I could not understand that but through the years they have lost there racism and admitt that they were wrong.

I like Obama never turned my back on these people because of that terrible trait they had,I would like to think that over the years that my friendship with them had something to do with there attitude change.

I never was one that would not voice my opinion on the racist question, and I never could see how a christian white or black could have a racist attitude.
