Any Orman fans here? If so, Oprah's latest giveaway is for her "TV audience," Orman's latest book, Women and Money. But anybody can get it, until sometime tomorrow afternoon/early evening. It's .pdf download on the front page at http://www.oprah.com

This is a good deal: download a free book, and find out about an offer from Ameritrade: open a MM account with them, deposit $50/month for a year, and they'll chunk in $100. Not a bad return for only $50 a month...Especially, if say, you do it for all your kids.

Talking about Oprah's latest giveaway...

Oprah actually made a visit to the plant that I worked at up here just before "she gave away" all those Pontiac G6's to her audience a couple years back...

Come to find out..."she" didn't give away anything...GM gave those cars away as an advertising gimmick, as we were just starting to produce that car at our plant.

Needless to say that the rank and file were not very happy bout that, considering half the plant was laid off at the time...

Surely you don't think she buys all that audience-giveaway stuff herself...

yeah, I have a friend that works at ameritrade, when you open that account it is also a money market sweep vehicle so when your cash isnt invested in stocks then you are gaining like 4% interest (may have gone down since the recent rate cuts). If anyone is interested then you get a code with the purchase of one of her books I believe (not sure if this is the one or not) but the codes might be re-usable.

You think it *is* an account eligible for trading?

I got the idea it was Money Market-based savings account...

Yeah, it's actually the one I do most of my trading out of lately because the money market that your cash sits in when it is not invested in stocks was like 4.X% so I was using it as a savings account. Now I just use some of the funds for penny stock trading here and there, I just checked and the interest rate is now at 2.78% but with the $100 return it's not bad at all. Especially if you plan on your money being mostly in stocks.
