I know we debated this before but it just sickens me how little human life means to these so called people of Allah (God) or really the men of this so called peaceful religion:

TORONTO (Dec. 11) - A Canadian teenager who was said to have clashed with her father about whether she should wear a traditional Muslim head scarf died of injuries late on Monday, and her father told police he had killed her.

A memorial for Aqsa Parvez is set up at her high school near Toronto. Some of her classmates were quoted as saying she wore traditional Muslim dress when leaving her house in the morning, but would change into other clothes in school washrooms.

Aqsa Parvez, 16, was found without a pulse in her home in the Toronto suburb of Mississauga earlier on Monday. She was resuscitated by paramedics, treated at two hospitals, and later succumbed to her injuries, police said on Tuesday.

Her father, 57-year-old Muhammad Parvez, has been charged with murder and was remanded back into custody after his first court appearance early on Tuesday.

"There was a 911 call placed by a man who indicated that he had just killed his daughter," Jodi Dawson, a constable with Peel Regional Police, told Reuters. "Everything else is evidentiary in nature and the investigation is in its preliminary stages at this point."

The victim's brother, Waqas Parvez, 26, was arrested and charged with obstructing police.

The story was on the front pages of Canadian newspapers on Tuesday. The newspapers quoted friends and schoolmates of the victim as saying she argued with her father over wearing a hijab, the traditional head scarf worn by Muslim females.

Photos of the teen retrieved from a social networking Web site show her in Western dress with her long dark hair loose.

"She was always scared of her dad, she was always scared of her brother," the Toronto Star quoted a classmate as saying.

Others were quoted as saying the girl wore traditional Muslim dress when leaving the house in the morning, but would change into other clothes in school washrooms.

Dawson said investigators will likely speak to the victim's schoolmates. The father will return for a bail hearing on Wednesday.

Yes, the very idea of anyone, let alone a parent going to such an extreme sickens.

It isn't just the muslims that go overboard and sometimes kill for the sake of some trivial symbol of religious belief (or the belief itself). (I cite the sniping of abortion providers.) (It wasn't technically a religious belief, but it was a religiously held belief that powered the Unibomber.)

Yet, as easy as it is to jump to condemnation of the religion or its believers, an example here and there of some parent (or non-parent) exceeding the bounds of reason in attempting to force religious dress or other religiously preferred practices on children (or on others), doing so isn't fair to the millions of that religion that have not and will not go to that extreme.

However, after such an incident, when the body of an entire church or other religious group of that faith or some spokesman acting for them fails or refuses to openly condemn the ACT, THAT FAILURE LEAVES THEM AND THEIR PRACTICE OF THAT RELIGION MARKED AS EVIL. (I note, though, the actual perpetrator may be a flaming maniac, in which case it is probably that and not the religion or any of its practices that is the problem,i.e., because the unibomber was a super nutcase does not mean every one of his beliefs [whatever they were?] was faulty, just the way he answered to them.)

it's not even being Muslim budge. these practices go much further back than Mohammed's Revelations.

Yes, I know.

I tried to remove the evil of it all from that specific religion, even from any religion. It's becoming an absolute slave to a belief that I see as the devil (I didn't capitalize "devil" intentionally). In these extreme cases and I tried to point out that that may be a mental illness, not even the belief. Religion (or maybe just obsessive beliefs, many which would escape any definition of religion) simply provides an atmosphere in which outlandish extremes may be accepted.

well without being judgemental?...

we in the US have lost our family identity...

we are factionalised in much different ways...

these murderers in this case see the women in their family as the vessel of their familial integrity and feel justified in "breaking" the defiled vessel...

the Japanese broadly maintained similar "honor codes" until their "westernization" after WW2...
Sepuku was the answer to lost honor for men, i am not as familiar their females version but they have a different ritual for the women. i think it involved drowning or strangulation...
