You can see the difference between the recent mall shooting and yesterday's mega church shooting. In the mega church shooting, an armed volunteer church member killed the shooter before he could kill a bunch of people.

I heard the senior pastor of the church say last night that it was a volunteer - so much for believing the news. It may turn out that it was a male scuba diver looking for the ocean that harpooned the criminal. At any rate, someone armed killed the criminal before he could kill a lot of other innocent people.

That's why students should have the right to be armed and dangerous...int's our constitutional right! virginia tech could have been prevented! Some armed student could have shot the Asian before he killed more...

if it were me I would have shot the asian....then scalped the P.O.S. and run around making indian noises!!! [Big Grin]

When honest citizens are not allowed to carry weapons, the only civilians that are carrying weapons are criminals.

Race has absolutely nothing to do with this issue.

we talked about this in the mall shooting thread a few days ago, if more folks were armed they could have layed that punk out before he killed all those people.
Just like the guy who used his concealed weapon to drop the little puke shooting folks at the mall a few months ago here in utah, who knows how many lives were saved by these brave people carrying guns.
didnt they say there were 7000 people inside that church he was heading into? fish in a barrel. that woman deserves a medal.

Do you resent her for some reason? She certainly saved many lives and I don't care how she FEELS. She is a hero.

I also applaud that guy in Texas that shot that riff-raff that was stealing from Neighbor's house.

you misunderstand, i have empathy for her. she took a life, it needed to be done, but if you think it's all that simple than you haven't done it.
many many cops and soldiers that make clean kills still have problems with it....

the guy in Texas shot somebody in somebody elses yard the way i heard it..

to that? i say "it's just stuff"... we make more all the time...

i'll look when i can take alonger break..

or you could save me the trouble and post the speicfics yourself.. cut-n-paste, post a link etc.

I believe the woman in the church shooting was a hired armed guard, not just some random person at the church who happened to have a gun.

The church authorities felt threatened and took steps to protect everyone. Obviously the correct decision.

What they didn't do was tell everyone to bring their firearms to church. If the guard was faced with 4 or 5 other people pulling out their weapons who's to say she wouldn't have shot them also. Having every citizen walking around with a gun is not really a good environment, at least it's not one I want to be around.

No, she wasn't a hired armed guard. She appeared on TV with the senior pastor. She said that she is a worshipper at the church whose ministry at the church is to provide security. There were several of these volunteer security worshippers at the church yesterday and they did no shoot each other.

You do understand that the criminals are walking around with guns all the time and they shoot people every day? How many law abiding citizens with concealed carry permits shoot the wrong person? Can you think of even one instance? I can't, but there have been MANY instances where armed civilians have stopped a criminal - the church shooting being the latest example.

Where they security personnel?

It sounds like everyone knew she and the others assigned to that ministry were armed. They more than likely had a plan of action in case such a situation developed.

I worked for a security company at one point protecting jewish facilites. Some of the security officers were armed and everyone knew who had a gun.
If a situation had occured and a random person pulled out a gun the reaction would have been to disable that person. It would not have made any difference if the person was acting as a hero or perp. the reaction would have been take as a threat.

This church shooting ended with a security personnel doing the shooting, which is why it probably ended without more damage.

As far as the guy shooting the burglers in his neighbors yard, they could have just a easily been the neighbors kids pulling a prank. I wonder how grateful the neighbor would have been then?

That's ridiculous. I'm quite certain that Mr. Horn could tell the difference between the neighbor's children and some Columbian adult males that were bashing in a window with a crowbar. I haven't heard much talk about these scumbags being illegal immigrants from Columbia who were involved in an organized crime ring. Where's that border fence?

We'll I don't know Mr. Horn so that's speculation, but I do agree if we don't do something about uncontrolled immigration it will be the destruction of our republic.

About 90% of everything he says is speculation, tempered by a preset opinion that everyone is not only wrong if the don't agree, but also everyone begs for his bias and pronouncements announced at full volume over and over and over....

I think that, essentially, uncontrolled immigration has been a hallmark of our republic, without which we might be an unimportant little Atlantic coastal North American country, jealous of and overwhelmed by huge, powerful, and very rich western neighbors, with loyalties to their royal mother nations in Europe.

I don't know the solution to the so called "illegal immigration" problem or even that it is so much of a problem as it is being built up to be in republican propaganda, but I do realize it is pretty much the hope of the Party to be competitive in the 2008 elections (they always build some sort of effort to bring prejudice and hatred into elections in order to divert and dictate the attention of the masses).

Now to short circuit the eager misquoters and Party line loyalist with their RNC talking points mentality,

I HAVE NOT AND DO NOT ADVOCATE OPENING THE BORDERS TO OR INVITING SWARMS OF THOSE DIRTY OBVIOUSLY EVIL- INTENT WETBACKS THAT HAVE PROVED THEMSELVES SO IGNURTT AND UN-AHHMURICUN THEY REFUSUS TA EVEN LAURN GOD'S GUD ANG-LESSH....

.....what I said was, "I don't know".

Yeah, we heard you the first time you said that.

And you said it and said it and said it and said it and * * *,

though it seems to be hardly was noticed within the abundance of name calling and insult.

OK, do you beleive that anybody has the right to blow somebody away because they see them committing ANY crime?

where do you stop?

quite frankly? the dude murdered two people, property loss or not.

if it had been two white kids breaking into a neighbors house? he'd already be in jail... on a million dollars bond.

i predict that if he doesn't get charged in Texas? the Feds will be all over hizzazz, and i can tell you the Feds had to create these kinds of laws because of the similar behaviour in a few of Texas' neighbor states too..

No, but this is not where I would stop. If someone is stealing from taking your property, your neighbor's property, or threatening your family, that's a justifiable shooting in my book.

quite frankly? the dude murdered two people, property loss or not.

He certainly killed them, but he didn't murder them. A very important difference.

if it had been two white kids breaking into a neighbors house? he's already be in jail...

Nonsense. Race was not and is not an issue in this case, except where the black panthers are sticking their noses in.

There was recently a young man in my area that was shot for stealing a bale of hay after repeatedly stealing other stuff from the same location. They charged the owner of the property. If they put me on the jury, he'll not only get off, but I'd like to nominate him for an award. One more criminal gone!!! Gotta like that!

Hitler said the same thing.

there is, in the US, a presumption of innocence until found guilty by a jury of peers...

even SWAT snipers have a hard time with killing people. as a mtter of fact? the very best CRIME PREVENTION snipers shoot NOT to kill if possible, becuase they can...

"Nonsense. Race was not and is not an issue in this case"

I wonder if they said something like that to James Byrd, Jr. I know they said it later on. They are still saying it.

Even in most the KKK lynchings they weren't dishonest enough to make such a claim.

Ain't it thrilling for us to have a contributer here that has such a powerful and unerring ability to know and read the minds of others and is generous enough to share those thoughts with us so we can be enlightened TOO.

bdgee,

I'm sure you're right. This guy was a flaming racist and so his plan to "get" the Columbians was to sit in his house and wait for Columbians to rob his neighbor so that he could shoot them. I think all the wacko leftist propaganda is starting to get to you. EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS IS NOT ABOUT RACE! Geesh!

Murray shot himself in the head, said police Sgt. Skip Arms.

Volunteer security guard Jeanne Assam shot Murray after he entered the church. Though investigators had earlier suggested he killed himself, they credited Assam's bravery with averting a greater tragedy.

Assam, a 42-year-old former Minneapolis police officer, said her faith allowed her to remain steady under pressure.

Looks like she can sleep tonight knowing it wasn't her bullet that killed this guy.

Whatever you "think" you are being cleaver about, you didn't simply miss the bullseye, you completely missed, not just the target, but the entire backstop.

I never ever spoke to anything to do with anyone killing anyone or robbing anyone, be they Columbian, Georgian, English, or maybe one legged albino dwarfs wearing Derek Jeter jerseys and playing flutes made of polished ivory.....or hinted thereof.

What I did speak of without intent to hint or side step the issue is that it looks like you have an over riding racial bias that you try to hide under a blanket claim of feigned indignation toward people who you "claim" are not up to standards you want to demand (while too often pointing out their race as you froth and harangue), whether or not you deserve or have any right to be making those demands.

Do you have any notion who would answer to the name James Byrd, Jr.?

Don't make the mistake of believing I am saying everything you so adamantly hate has to do with race, because I quickly and enthusiastically agree that your bias, though it can clearly be explosively ignited by race, enjoys a much wider scope.

Maybe you ought to only participate in discussions simple enough not to challenge your mental capacity?
