my wife insisted that we watch the old Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer show that she bought the other day. It's the one from 30 years or so ago with the voice of Burl Ives as the singing snowman, remember it? I hadn't seen it in a long, long time, nor had my wife.
Well, in my opinion, that show couldn't be made or would not be allowed to be made today. You want to see bigotry and racism at its worst? Watch Rudolph. As soon as he's exposed for being a red nosed reindeer he's banned from everything. He's chastised by everyone, from his peers all the way up to Santa himself. Santa even tells Rudolphs Dad that he should be ashamed of himself, thereby making the whole Rudolph family outcasts. The pressure is so intense that Rudolph finally has to run away from it all with another outcast, an elf that doesn't like to make toys and wants to be a dentist instead.
All I could think about was Gordon and what his opinion of it would be. Gordon, if you get a chance, please watch it. I'm sure that it'll make your holiday season but just so you know, I reviewed all of the credits in slow motion and George Bush wasn't mentioned. I don't think he had a hand in this one.

LOL? Up? I have my kids watch it every year! they love it...AND? I agree with some of your thoughts...BUT? The thing my kids get out of it? Is even a "mis-fit" has a place in this world...and can even be needed! Not always bad to be different...

I just took a look at our EEO statement on our employment applications. It doesn't mention non-toy making elves or reindeer with off-colored noses. I'm not too worried about the reindeer part but do you think I should update it to avoid a potential lawsuit from an elf?

I imagine you'd need a wax. Shaving the hiney would be a bit awkward.

I started the thread, I have rights of first refusal to anyone needing help shaving/waxing their backside. Don't worry Jordan, you can help Bigfoot if he asks for it. What a job that'd be, he's probably got his full winter pelt by now.
