Mortars strike U.S. office in Iraq No immediate word on damage or casualties from attack on Hillah complex This may be a cover-up attempt in progress. The story is still in GOOGLE'S CACHE but has now been erased from MSNBC's site. I agree Repo... An overzealous reporter filing an inaccurate story sounds the most plausible to me...

I don't think it's simply a mistaken reporter. The same story (with more details) has been deleted from FOX NEWS, but is also still in GOOGLE'S CACHE -------------------- "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." - Benjamin Franklin

From the FOX report...Nine out of the ten mortar bombs fired landed inside the complex, police Capt. Muthanna Khalid Ali said, after which the area was sealed off by U.S. and Iraqi forces. U.S. diplomats usually refuse to comment on such reports to avoid releasing sensitive information to insurgents. Calls and e-mail seeking confirmation were not immediately returned by U.S. Embassy spokesmen in Baghdad. Inaccurate but highly mobile, the mortar is growing increasingly popular among Iraqi fighters because it can be fired from a secure location several kilometers (miles) from a target and then quickly hauled away or hidden. Some insurgent groups mount the weapons on pickup trucks, remaining in constant motion except when firing. Tal Afar has continued to suffer scattered insurgent attacks, even after U.S. President George W. Bush in March declared the city an example of progress made in bringing security to Iraq. Tal Afar lies 150 kilometers (93 miles) east of the Syrian border, 420 kilometers (260 miles) northwest of Baghdad. -------------------- "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." - Benjamin Franklin

It could be that the story was killed to further the illusion that anything is going well in Iraq. -------------------- "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." - Benjamin Franklin

Maybe just accepted. Folks might nod their head, should there be a query, to indicate understanding.
