The officials decided that the missile was pointed at Hawaii from its angle immediately after launch and the altitude it reached, after analyzing data collected by destroyers equipped with the Aegis radar combat system and RC-135S electronic reconnaissance aircraft, the newspaper said.
It said the findings support a belief North Korean intended the launch as a protest over U.S. economic sanctions against the isolated regime.

Well, if they did hit Hawaii, Kim Jong Il's goose would be charred. Dustoff would prolly fly over there personally and take out some frustrations if his favorite place were to become broken again.

And if it was, how many thousand miles was the miss? Doesn't sound like anything to be alarmed about if they can't find a better marksman.
Now, let me see, that thing petered out for whatever reason before completing it's initial stage burn. And some wise and ultra smart ballistics genious has decided the known trajectory means it was aimed at Hawaii? Someone better tell that wise and ultra smart ballistics genious that the very simplest sort of balistics (or the most sophisticated) cannot determine a final trajectory until every stage has COMPLEATED it's burn. In other words, it isn't ballistic and you cannot determine the final point of the trajectory (that is, it's intended target) UNTIL it has no more thrust.

My wife heard that N.K. admitted aiming it at Hawaii to me this morning.
I didn't have time to check up on it today.
