I know this is a stock board, but Bonds* is up (and I say that with a " * ").
One home run over The Babe. It just ain't right.

Why wouldn't they just give him one test for steriods when he was under so much suspicion?(and his new XXL dome)lol.
Because it's all about the money.
715 what a joke!
Hank did it CLEAN!
And The Babe did it in ALOT FEWER SWINGS!

Highway,

Would that test check to see if he hits more home runs when his levels are higher or lower. Bonds and Griffy do have the best swings in baseball lots of work and good training have done that, thats the part you want kids to know. He has a lot of bitterness maybe rightfully so, and that has been carried with him through his career, unfortunately all the money and records might not mean much as his health starts to fail because of the steriods thats to bad. He has that drive to be the best and to do whatever he needs to achieve that, that's one of reasons why we need rules against these drugs to help protect athletes from themselves.

No one should have pitched to him. Just intentionaly walk him every at bat. I just can't wait for him to go to jail for perjury and hopefully get the Pete Rose treatment and get banned from baseball.

Too much circumstantial evidence + hearsay IMO.

Bonds is simply a product of Major League's exceedingly soft stance on performance enhancing drugs. MBL effectively enabled Bonds by their loose policy. I am not a fan of Bonds at all; however, 700+ homeruns on drugs or no drugs is extremely impressive. Sure, Dbol, test, Deca, Insulin, GH and the rest will give you more power and the ability to recover more quickly, but enhance hand-eye coordination? I think not.

Not to mention: how many pitchers or outfielders who leaped to catch balls over walls, stealing HRs from Bonds, were on the stuff during the same period of time?

__________

What I think is even more disgusting is what the Houston Astros have agreed to pay Clemens for the balance of the season. When Clemens is ready to take the mound there will be ~100 games remaining. Let's say Houston has a 5 man rotation at the time, so Clemens might start 20 games. Last year, Clemens had about 67% of his games go to decision where he won about 62% of the time.

So a little extrapolation has the Astros paying $22 million for 8 wins.

Noice!

Forget that, they should have beaned him every he came to bat.LOL Untill every pitcher in the league was suspended, or Bonds* gave up. What ever came first.LOL

That would have set quite the historical precedent, huh?LOL

I see what you're saying, but if the juice gives you more power, then he has the extra bat speed he needed to take on alot of the pitches he couldn't have hit without the drugs.

Bonds needs to be erased from any and all MLB records. I believe it is pretty obvious he has or is using steroids. Why should a professional sport not test their athletes for performance enhancing or recreational drugs? The Olympics test all athletes after competion, probably before as well, and so should professional sports.

Bonds isn't just inflating his records. Think of the pitchers statistics he is ruining by hitting home runs instead of pop flys. Think of the team records that are changed because a solo shot takes a team out of playoff contention. There is not a single baseball statistic bonds is affecting; his, his teams, and every other team's.

The mere fact that he is doing that should be enough to strike him from the records. Then think about all the millions in sports betting that he is affecting. He shouldn't be allowed to do what he is doing.

I do not see a "The Sandlot" being made about a ball signed by Barry Bonds or any of his types. Matt

Pete Rose got banned, but at least his records are all legitimate. Bonds should be banned.

(AP)

Baseball fanatics won't have to leave behind their beloved teams when they finally go to that big stadium in the sky. Instead, they'll soon be able to rest in peace inside a coffin with team colors and insignia.

Major League Baseball has a marketing deal with a company called Eternal Image. It'll put team logos on caskets and urns. The effort begins next season with the Yankees, Red Sox, Tigers, Phillies, Cubs and Dodgers. It could eventually include all 30 teams.

Good call on the road dog Skip... I sit it out, I didn't have any idea how it'd go last night.

The Tigers were well rested, but you can get too rested.
And, they lost 33 of their last 50 games to end the season.
So, looks like they can be beat.

Thanks man. Well they are giving similar odds today, -130 on Cards +1.5.

I am a cards fan from way back, but 2 in a row in Detroit? Not sure about that. But I might still throw a little at it to make watching the game more fun.

If they do win tonight, though, I'd say they will go all the way.

But... I think I'll sit this one out too. I'll be pulling for 'em though.

Are you sure "steroids" were even known when Ruth played?

Too, I'm convinced that Ruth would have done anything that would give him a thrill or high. He'd eat hot dogs by the dozen to show off and smoked cigars like anyone else did cigarettes. But intentional effort to better his body isn't a thing I ever heard of Ruth doing.

When did steroids become a possibility?

First of all.

(1) Christ was not an American he was cocerned with the kingdom of god.

If you are a christian and a believer you would have to ask your self why would god be concerned about America over any other country.

(2) Our past is certainly not the path a real Christian would have taken.

The policy of our Government was to make sure slavery stayed as an economic institution and when we needed there land we took it from the native americans even if that method ment genocide. And we used the support of established religion to help justify this.

(3) And if that is not enough the people that stole and abused everything there turn in the barrel came when the railroads expanded, and the new industrialist need there land for natural resourses. If they could not buy it they just killed people and took it. And when they needed people to work they just brought in new slaves Chinese and the Irish. That they worked to death

I could give anybody an in depth study and paper on this but that would not be my reason here.
If this sounds Christ like to you you need a check up from the neck up.

Like our loyal presidents followers a few slogans and some jargon are all they use to say I am Christian and I am right. You follow me. I long for the old days ect,ect and ect.

Our Governemnt from the begging has always represented the ruling blok of capitol at the time and protected it. If you want to praise people praise all the good people in our past Christian and other that fought to give us rights, like voting womens sufferage, the abolishinist movement and the labor movment that nobody today has the guts to start again and that includes the unions who people gave there lives up so unions could be legal. Look at the milk toasts that run unions today.

The babe on roids,LOL. Are you jokin'?

In 1935, the male hormone testosterone was first synthesized. During World War II, German soldiers were reportedly given testosterone to increase their performance and aggressiveness on the battlefield.

From the 1950s into the 1970s, both rumors and facts of performance-enhancing drug use combined to increase actual use. Many athletes seemed to believe they had to use in order to remain competitive. Those athletes who require bulk and strength to be competitive, like bodybuilders, football players, and shotput throwers, were the first to abuse anabolic-androgenic steroids. During the 1970's demand for anabolic-androgenic steroids grew as athletes in speed-dependent sports discovered some of the potential benefits to using anabolic-androgenic steroids. For one thing, the drugs allow athletes to train harder because muscle strains and tears repair themselves faster.

The Babe played from 1914 to 1935.
In 2503 games, with only 8399 at bats, he had 2873 hits, 714 dingers, 2211 rbi's, with a total batting avg. of .342.

too funny!

That is the EXACT thing I say when folks ask how long I have been a cards fan! Vince Coleman, Willie Mcgee, Ozzie, Oquendo, Whitey Herzog at the helm. Ahhh, the good ol' days. Heck, I remember them winning the NLCS in 1985 and losing to the Royals in the series. Given, I was only 6, but I remember the wizard doin' the back flips...

No joke!?! My dad actually played golf with Stan Musial in the mid-eighties at a celebrity pro-am in Mt. Vernon, IL (where I was born). I have his autograph on the scorecard they used. Pretty neat. Small world.

Carpenter pitching tomorrow night? I am laying down some cash...
