More than 1500 American ("Coalition") and Iraqi forces are engaged in Operation Swarmer, an all-out air assault on Samarra, an area north of Baghdad. 200+ tactical vehicles and 50+ aircraft are involved. According to CNN, more than one town has been targeted.
It seems that the military geniuses in the administration believe that demolishing one or more towns, killing and wounding even more Iraqi civilians, is the best way to deal with sectarian strife. Anyone remember Fallujah? One wonders if the hospitals were targeted first? One wonders how many dead bodies are going to be secretly buried in football fields this time?
There are no embedded reporters, only old footage taken weeks ago or photos carefully doled out by the Department of Defense.
Several FOX Military Analysts have emphatically stated that you can't bomb your way out of an insurgency.

You are 100% right you cannot, you cannot bomb your way out of an insurgency. Not by doing this you either have to make a vacant parking lot out of the country ,find a political solution,or leave. The Bush people keep hopping some other option will come up if they wait they have been waiting for over 3 years and under preforming and going backwards IMHO and losing respect in the Arab world and being hated at home. Not only does most of the world not like him, a lot of it Iraq is to blame for most of it. And they way he treated countries for not joining the conflict. Plus most of the world is not stupid they can see what is going on and want nothing to do with it. lol Mr. Bush you will most likely go down in history as a big mistake or the perfect example of the peter principle

The way this administration works so closely with the media and attempts to destroy reputations, (See: Murtha), it's very brave to stand up to them.

It's just a large cordon and search. Nothing more, nothing less. Oh, and by the way, Fallujah was much bigger. And your comment about hospitals being targeted first, too funny. By the way, what FOB were you on over in Iraq? You seem to know a lot about what goes on over there.
