Well, in 84, a skipper friend [ his USCG License is rated in SHP instead of Tons ] was making the Peru to Singapore run...
He was towing a double tow with a long range Ocean going Tugboat..
About a couple days out of singapore, in the South China Sea, they picked up a radar target at night, and then got a visual on it when a Distress Flare was launched by the Vessel..
Whoops, got a stock starting to run, will finish later..

For all I know it is new a new ac5ivity along the East African coast, but there are frequent "episodes" down through the Carribean.

When the crew began to prepare for the course change and possible *along side rescue* they heard Small Arms fire..
The skipper was on the Radio with another Ship in the Area when what looked like a fire broke out on the vessel in distress...
They then began sqaureing away the Tug and Tow for the rescue attempt..
When they arrived on station, their were dozens of folks fleeing the burning vessel..
They saved as many S.E Asian refugee's as they could.....
In Singapore he found out that he was lucky to be alive...
The gun fire and vessel fire were caused by the refugee's over taking the Pirate's who had originaly taken over they're refugee Sampan..
Still lot's of adventure in the World to be had folks!

Last time I was in the Florida Keys?... [ 91 ] at Key West....
Well, there was a charter boat stolen, with Capt. and Crew...
The people who chartered the boat? well they just killed the Capt. and Crew at Sea, and split for Mexican waters with the boat for a Drug run....
Being in the Sports Fishing buisiness for years, I can understand how it can happen..
When we fire up to go in the morning we are generaly to busy to pay attention to boats beside us in the slips...So very little info was available on the charter..
Unless there are some purdy Girls boarding!!
