Yes, Ronald Reagon. "The Great Communicator" was a great leader. Something lacking currently.

i think Nixon did a lot more GOOD than ReagAn...

he got us outa the Nam, and he got China opened up which allied US to them, allowing UncaRonnie to take credit for the end of the cold war...

look what his reward was? sheeshhh... a coupla third rate lowlifes break into another lowlifes office and Watergate was hatched...

do you really know what watergate was about???

it was kids playing in the sandbox compared to the crimes we are seeing now....

bunch of friggin ingrates.....

and to top it all off? deepthroat was just a pissed off employee passed over for advancement.... [Mad]

I agree with you Glassman, I liked Reagan but Nixon saved so many lives by getting us out of Viet Nam and took a hit for it. To bad someone will not get us out of Iraq and save some lives there.

Reagan's best move was hiding the Alzheimer's--musta been a bitter pill to swallow...that was great drama, though--BLOW DOWN THE WALL, YOU COMMIE!

Nixxon? great at dominoes, lousy at cards...

Ronald Reagan made us feel proud to be Americans after years of feeling down about the post-Vietnam years, Watergate and the Hostages in Iran crisis. And I recall my dad being happy when Reagan brought the brown business suit back into style. And what a debater!

war is big business, he took away the cash cow...

it's good media fodder, they get to play both sides of the fence...
and at the risk of sounding like a peacenik (i'm not) it's really good business for govt contracters.....

the military is there for war...as a member of the military in peacetime? i can tell you it's reeeeallly boring doing your job for no reason.....ever hear the term "hurry up and wait"? i HATE waiting... [Big Grin]

Patrick,

If you loved him so much, why can't you spell his name correctly?

Nixon was miles above Reagan, and I couldn't stand Nixon either.

Reagan, a conservative republican, when both the House and the Senate was dominated by Democrats.
This was his most remarkable acheivement, of holding off the Liberal surge.

Think about what his man could have accomplished had the House and Senate been under Republican control.

Even the Liberals liked him. Ted Kennedy even paid his respects to the "Kipper".

I doubt it. The K is two letters away from the G on your keyboard.

"Of all cursed places under the sun, where the hungriest soul can hardly pick up a few grains of knowledge, a girls boarding-school is the worst. They are called finishing schools, and the name tells accurately what they are. They finish everything but imbecility and weakness, and that they cultivate. They are nicely adapted machines for experimenting on the question, ''Into how little space a human being can be crushed?'' I have seen some souls so compressed that they would have fitted into a small thimble, and found room to move there -- wide room. A woman who has been for many years at one of those places carries the mark of the beast on her till she dies."

I don't mean to sound ignorant, but where does this quote come from?

Public (government) schools today are indoctrinating places for our children.

No wonder todays generation has got their noses pierced.

You don't sound ignorant at all, Chadsly. It's an Olive Schreiner quote. (South African Writer, 1855-1920)
