AP reported that ten members of the thirty two member Food and Drug Administration advisory panel, who voted that a group of powerful pain killers should continue to be sold, had ties to the drug makers.
They had ties to either Pfizer Inc., or Merck & Co., ranging from consulting fees and speaking honoraria to receiving research support from the companies.
The panel voted 31-1 to keep Pfizer's Celebrex on the market, 17-13 with 2 abstentions in favor of Pfizer's Bextra and 17-15 that Merck's Vioxx should be allowed back on sale.
Merck pulled Vioxx from the market Sept. 30 after heart problems were reported in some users. Similar questions were later raised about the other two drugs.
Without the votes of the ten drug-company-connected FDA members the result would have been 12-8 to recommend withdrawing Bextra and 14-8 to keep Vioxx off the market.
Money talks and the drug companies talk big in government.

wait till the mercury in dental fillings gets the attention it deserves....
the average amalgam filling contains enough mercury to pollute a 10 acre lakes so badly that eating any fish from it would banned...
Eating Tuna may be more toxic than either vaccines or fillings. No credible evidence that harm results from any of these - just unproven possibility.
Opps! Now the laywers will go after Tuna fishermen, tuna canners and distributors, and grocery stores.
At some point the consumer has to take responsibility for their own welfare and quit blamming their poor decisons on business and other "deep pockets".

....Eating Tuna ia more toxic than either vaccines or fillings. not true Art... amalgam slowly dissolves CONTINUOUSLY...forever... abd removing the fillings(as opposed to yanking the teeth) is MORE dangerous than leaving them in...
and consumers have less choice than you imply....
the ADA has sanctioned many dentists who recomend NOT getting amalgam fillings..

No credible evidence that any risk is incurred. Just scare internet BS. Same with Aspartame - only potentially bad (as is chocolate) for Phenylketonurics as warned on the label of the product. Cigarettes, and even table salt, are more harmful.

Alzheimer's presents with mild to moderate memory loss and depression, then later increasing memory loss, and some apathy and withdrawal, then death.

Absolutely. Did you see the movie, The Madness of King George with Robert Downey? Lead in pottery/cookware made him bonkers, as historians later figure out.

Olestra, the no-calories fat substitute, can remobve toxins from the body.
Can also cause some digestive upset or gas.
