It sounds like Bush is asking to limit the campaign discussion away from the war in Iraq.

If this goes thru, i think we need to be VERY AFRAID.

I do not like having to discuss it either, but this war is THE ISSUE.

i wish, it was on Fox 1 minute before i posted it....
Bush did not say it in so many words, but he did say that discussing this was bad for the Iraqi interim govt., and our troops which is OBVIOUS, i kept my tone way low for a long time out of respect for the troops.....
the Fox TV anchor is the one that specifically said Bush was going to try to limit the discussion... i know better than to believe these guys, but they are the ones that try to get the spin working FIRST....

I will say this I think the tone the Democrats have taken over the last year, year and one half, has gotten more of our troups killed than had a more positive atitude been taken. You don't have to agree with the war just watch what you say and when ya say it. I sure the terrorists just love Ted Kennedy and John Kerry by now.

i dunno timberman, i started posting earlier this year about my concerns over how the campaign could really be bad for the troops....
it has looked to me like the war was run to INTENTIONALLY pull the terrorists into Iraq, i called it a wolverine trap....
(try a search thru allst. for wolverine)

problem NOW is it doesn't look like this insurgency really was expected....

politicians really get into trouble with war, Bush HAD to get this interim govt up and running or everybody would have said it was OUR oil grab.... now we have this govt. that isn't a govt. that's why the troops are in trouble IMO...i don't argue that the the DEMS are better....
it's all partisan maneuvering...

I agree they need to kick butt and quit playing around with those people over there. Also need to tell the new government that we will do what we have to do regardless of what they want. Its our people at risk.

i end up defending Kerry, but it's not support, it's becuase this election will probably be just as close as the last one...and if Kerry wins, a lot of what MY PARTY is saying will make us look weak....we aren't...either way, Kerry or Bush we will win this war, and i expect we will secure a safe oil supply for some time to come...
i am also obviously concerned about integrity....
diplomacy isn't 100% firepower, 90% yes, but not 100%

Well, PG i don't like to talk politics cuz absolutes can't be applied--LOL-- the Iraq thing may be a wolverine trap. The bait has been set out and now we will see how many show up to play. It's better to be the hunter than the prey and this is one way to get the job done. I don't believe the ends absolutely justify the means.

nuclear reactors are stupid.....

it was pumped as cheap energy....

we haven't BEGUN to pay the butcher bill on them yet....
Nebraska just payed over 100 million (and they are bankrupt) in breach of contract penalties for backing out of a deal to build a disposal facility.....
disposal of the spent fuel rods is the real problem.....
nobody wants them, but we keep making more.....

we do have other problems here that don't get much press...
the "liberal" scientists write papers on them and the government keeps ignoring them....
We spread radiation over the WHOLE midwest doing tests on big bombs after WW2....
want more??? it still shows up in milk, but nobody wants to hear about it....

and yep the Russki's let a lot of peole die and many many more are still dying, maybe for the next 10 generations.....

I agree glassman. These reactors are poison. They should be illegal unless they are willing to build the breader reactors (I think thats what they call them) to remanufacture the waste. Even then I don't like them. Theres one of them here in PA Three Mile Island. Think about it who in there right mind would build something like that in the middle of a river. If something ever goes wrong not only the air and land but the bay and ocean (if leaking) would be ruined. duh At the expense of sounding like a treehugger we need to get on the ball and invent new technologies for a safer cleaner fuel. There are some but need much work to improve.

Timber, I doubt that the family of a murdered US or Iraqi soldier or a murdered Iraqi or US civilian would call it "playing around". And it is not just YOUR people at risk. Your attitude concerning your new "democratic" government for the "sovereign state" of Iraq reveals a lack of appreciation for either. Do you want a sovereign state their or not? If not, then what do you want?

i think what we have over there right now is a puppet government that was planned out YEARS in advance of the invasion, and i have found enough evidence and brought it here in the form of links to support my case pretty well.

historically, Iraq, Afghan,Iran and MOST of the mid-east KINGDOMS have required brutal kings/emporers/dictators, whatever you want to call them...WHY? because that's the only way to run those groups. they only respect raw power

any successful democracy in Iraq is not likely to resemble American democracy in any way other than name.....

when our president props his hand-picked "sovereign" puppet up on TV and tries to tell me he is our important ally i have to laugh......he was running and hiding from Iraq and he couldn't stand up to Sadam without US and i doubt very seriously he would last 5 days if we pulled out today and i also doubt he will be able to defend himself from HIS OWN people in 6 months or a year either...........

i don't believe the real danger to Allawi is from Al-queda, i believe the real danger to him is IRAQIs

Duncan I have now idea what your talking about or where your comming from with that statement. I was refering to the uprisings in Iraq being handled more over time, politically. Had you read glass's earlier thread you would have seen that. I wasn't refering to our troops playing around I ment that non military leadership was playing around. An example of what I was refering to is that we've had that Al sader (or whatever his name is) cornered at lest twice now, and had to let him go because of political decisions made by nonmilitary leadership. Only to have more fighting later and our people and Iraqi people military and non killed. Look, if Iraq wants to make these decisions with there people thats one thing, but when it affects (puts our troops and civilians in danger) our people thats another and it shouldn't be allowed to happen.

timberman, i did understand what you meant, and i think that(the fact that you need to re-explain) goes to the heart of what's really wrong today....

(no offense intended here bodyguard)

too many people are trying to communicate in soundbites and slogans...

or MORE PROPERLY too many people are ACCEPTING communication in soundbites.....

none of it is simple...

the TRUTH of Iraq (as i see it) is we took it away from Russia and France and we did it for the oil...PERIOD accept it, and quit trying to wrap MY flag around it.....
i offered my life for it, and many others did too, and to me, it's an insult to say there is something patriotic going on....

that said, we need to hold Iraq just to pay the bills.....
so let's stop lying to ourselves.....

this garbage about the troops hearing the politicians saying bad thing about how the war is going is hypocrisy....
the current admin is guilty of making more propaganda than anybody else...
they are the ones that have steered the campaign to terrorism not vice-versa...
holding the RN Conv. in NYC was a blatant move to solidify them as the ani-terror party and it's propaganda (spin sounds better, but that's just more spin..LOL)

glass, sounds like your buying the Dem spin huge......

the campaign is about terrorism, should be and doesnt need to be steered. whar repubs should only have convention in n.dakota????

kerry has shot both his feet off with his flops, bottom line. Dems have spent way more money on those 527 tv ads than repubs, but r's are beginning to catch up.

by the way, i love that windsurfing one-LOL

Kerry goes to Wisconsin stares the swing state in the face and says "Lambart field"-LOL
----no one gonna vote for him there now... windsurfing and NO brain on football....

did you see him getting off plane with Hopkins.....guess he's a big tough fight fan now-LOL

enjoy the day.

Hey Glass, With Kerry's past history of aiding and abetting former enemies via public discussions, don't you think it wise that Bush would wish to limit Kerry's ability to do it again? Seems to me Bush is the one concerned for the well being of our troops while Kerry utilizes death counts and pessimism to further a faulted and failing election bid.

When has Kerry ever promised to do anything about the Saudis?
When has Kerry done anything but try to hinder our millitay's advantage over other nation's millitaries?
Next easily refutable point?

if anybody is aiding and abbetting the enemy
i would point DIRECTLY to who is hanging out with the Saudi's........
gee i wonder who that is??????

watch and wait DQR Kerry's been laying it out....

he said it VERY CLEARLY last week
and has said it before, but it goes unnoticed by the general media..

this is what i mean when i say that we need to spend a little more energy DD'ing our vote....

i am taking copious notes and doing my homework....

the ads on TV are ALL CRAP...fast food politics..

i like PRIME RIB and baked potato with lots of sour cream, broccolli with lemon pepper..

just saw the new Saudi ad about Jim Baker representing them...looks like they got the facts straight on one for a change...LOL

i have also done my own research, Mike the slob Moore seasons his facts with a lot o'fiction and i haven't seen the movie yet.

BUT....

Do a google on Robert Jordan... look at him very closely if you really care...

even you Keith have said you want the Saudi's....

i can't find a connection of Kerry to them, but i doubt he is pure either....

Bush's family connections to the Saudi's go all the way back to the 30's (the Walkers--as in G H 'Walker' Bush))...it's so old and rotten that there isn't even any smoke left from the gun.....

how many Saudi's were on the 9-11 planes?????? 15 of 19

did you know that Sudan claims to have confiscated ALL of Osama's money back in the mid-90's and now we are trying to get a war started there too?????
if they did, where did the 30 million$+ come from to fund 9-11???
and isn't it a little odd that after they made these claims, they are suddenly being targeted for crimes against humanity? the only actual video i've seen was a dozen guys beating on ONE...i don't say it isn't happening, but,you can't-

tell me this smells like roses...LOL
