I think that it would be good for all to be able to see everyone's IP address, then we'd be able to sort out the bashers. Any Thoughts Welcomed.

when i first came here? we had our e-mails posted in the profiles for all to see...unfortunately a "basher" pointed out that CMK? was a POS, and a "war" broke out....e-mail addresse were hidden for everybodies "good"

personally? i agreed with the "basher" and the claims being made by the "pumpers" were totally outrageous...since i was new to penny stocks at the time? i kept my head low and read...the "bashers" and the "pumpers" are only a matter of perspective...and you really don't want some of the headaches that come with the "wars" that "break out"

I agree that e-mail addresses shouldn't be posted, but is there any harm is IP Addresses? I've been in other forums where IP Addresses where available for all to see. This was basically how the forum leader new who to block from posting when profanities where being posted. Is there any legal reason for IP's not being posted?

Posting IPs would invite denial of service attacks on posters -- and the ones with poor security would get hacked.

Thanks Bob, I've gotten the big picture about this while talking with others about it.

20 yrs ago when the gov first locked me in a room with a black box i was so thankful to pick up a radio station on the gov equip...

today, I am still locked in the room with the black box but now i can access the internet over the black box...

the same black box that I can't talk about i can work, log into the internet talk to you guys and listen to the radio as well...

you see radio waves can't penetrate in here.
it use to be depressing but now its not so bad..
and you would not want my IP address...

Im a telecommunications technician by trade and im telling you IP is gonna be bigger than it already is. And by posting your IP's there could be a huge security not by just DOS attacks etc.. But just wait until CRTC lets everyone go gun wild on VOIP. Lots of problems with security in VOIP and well your ip address would be just like your phone number hahah.

You cannot attack someone with just an ip address, they have to have already opened a trojan or some kind of backdoor program

Also, just proxy and you can change your ip address...kinda hard to track me when I'm using a proxy in Egypt

Of course you can! Lots of people out there with no firewall or weak firewalls or game ports opened up ...

that in itself does not allow access though

there is no such thing as a weak firewill, all of that is relative, as the best firewall wouldn't allow any access at all

I love allstock,
I work a few jobs... and at each job
I check into all stock... each would have
a different ip... i actually have a goverment
job and check in from a secure computer...at
night... I generally never check in from my home computer... so the ip addresses i am using are
not my own... and especially the gov would not
want to be messed with...

i think you will probably find people are checking in from work and would not want that ip address distrubed.

Yes through an Internet protocol address you can acumulate access to a computer an remotley control it if you know what your doing...without a trojan. As well as that you can also Nuke someone easily.. Next time you use a downloading program and download something check your open ports in dos... From this you could instantly nuke someone if you wanted. Anyway just saying IP Address can give a lot of security away.

A) you have to know the protocol is running
B) you have very limited access even if you can find a way into it
