The player's name is $60 oil. I wish he isn't there because he's making me rethink my stragies every moment. On the other hand, volatility players must be having a lot of opportunities. I real wish oil would stabilized under $60. All the oil analysts think it will be here for a while.

How do you deal with this?

Hi Keith, plz help me understand :

"in options not currently, market needs to turn consolidate pull back, whatever you want to call it".

Having difficulty understand what you mean. Consolidation is a pull back, but "in options not currently" ?

You asked, do you hold long positions?

My New a little more coherent response: yes I hold long positions. Right now, we are in an options thread, currently in options I'm only short.

Thanks for EX, Keith.

Big retreat today. Are your shorts covered by stocks or other options?

Myself: Got a butterfly on AMR. Aug 12 long, Aug 14 short (2x), Aug 16 long. The retreat ate into my profit on the long Aug 12. Two more weeks of trading left. Hmm, looking for directions.

no I straight out bought QQQTN puts currently riding them hoping to ride them until expiration date. Expiration is 10 days away, like to see the Q's around 37.00, that would be nice [Smile]

didn't know about it, you have a link?

I'll be up your way tomorrow, in Hampton beach for a week.

QQQTN, bought first at 1.35 (dumb) again at .85 in and out once from .40 and back in at .45 still holding that.

How high will crude go?

We are actually gaining in crude and distillate inventories and Chinese consumption is slowing down (somewhat). The big excuse for this greed is anything oil commodity traders come up with is a string of refinery offlines. Then there's always the geo-poli factor. I am not buying this as an excuse to gouge the public. Why isn't fuel regulated. It directly impacts world economies. Look at why Japs attack Pearl H. Their imperial army was short on fuel and needed to seize the oil fields of indonesia, and best way to ensure supplies is to knock the US navy out of the way, or at least for long enough time.

Also I am not discounting we have a slide in the making, perhaps a retreat to 60 is likely but I am hoping it will ease gradually because of my short calls.

Oil new high @ 67.70 Aug 24, 2005

Have you alter your strategies for high oil ?
As for myself I am doing nicely on short index spreads. Bad thing about it is $ only release from margin credit balance once a month. I am not long anything unless they are short leg of a spread. Tell me its bad!
