Does anybody know what the best (here defined cheapest) broker is for penny stocks in an IRA account? I only trade about 5 or 6 times per year. Choice trade or Lowtrade are the obvious cheapest in cash accounts at $5 per trade, but they have an yearly IRA fee of $30, which at 6 trades per year, raises my average cost per trade to $10. I am using Scottrade right now, which at an average purchase price of $800-1000 per trade for penny stocks, comes to $11-12 per trade. I am not going to switch from Scottrade for a measly $5-10 per year savings, which is what I would be saving right now by switching to Choicetrade, but I might switch for a $20 per year savings, just to see what another broker is like. (I know that someone is going to say that I am cheap).
