Hello I was just wondering if anyone is willing to work with me in giving me advice in ways to finding better stocks? I see people on here give good stock picks but I wanna know the main reasons behind them, I in other words I want to be like them instead of being fed the picks. What are the main factors one looks at? How do I know if a stock is at a good purchase price? Are moving averages a main factor in determining if a stock will go higher or lower?

If anyone is willing to work with me please e mail me at mike7131_99@yahoo.com or leave a reply. I know it may be alot to ask but I figure if I never ask I will never know. Thank You,Mike

Could anyone recommend any good books?

There are hundreds of online sources of
information for stock investments. Run
an internet search on stock related terms
such as,

"stock investment"
"stock market"
"buying stocks"
"investment strategy"
"investing in stocks"

You will be kept busy reading for at least
a year, with no need to buy books. After
working through internet resources, you
will be in a better position to pick books
which best meet your needs.

Take very good notes! There is a lot to
learn and remember.

If you are asking about investing--then you need to buy a subscription to investors bz daily or the Wall Street Journal---start reading the news-----it takes a while to put together a picture of the markets----trading is a little different--if you want to trade then you need to focus on technical analysis.
some of each is the best--but neither can be learned overnite----
in todays market you want to look for quality companies that are oversold--it is beginning to look like there will be a lot of them if this keeps up much longer---

My advice would be to run away. Trading stocks will make you old before your time.

Still here?
Then spend a lot of time reading the posts on the boards and ask questions about the stocks people pick, most will be glad to give you advice and explain where they got their info. Purl, Bob Frey and Glassman who answered you post are great on this but this is only a start, as you learn, put it into praticle aplication on your own picks. In order to be any good at this you will invest tons of time and effort and still lose money at first. Good luck trading
