Hi all. I have never traded stocks before, but am intrested in doing so online. Can anyone point me to a good beginners guide and a good online company to deal with?

read lots of books on everything from day trading to how market makers do their job and how it all works and conjuncts. read this board too lots of nice people might help you here (or criple you) dont take buy recomendations as a defenet, do your own research

New to stocks and you are going to start trading pennies off the bat? Before you actually make a trade here, make sure you do your homework. Yes, it's true you can make a lot of money here, but the same goes the other way. As a newbie, don't make the same mistake of jumping on the bandwagon w/out doing your own due dilligence. Goodluck and hit those books.
I'm with Ameritrade as well. 10.99 for all online equity trades. No cost for cancelled orders or orders that do not complete. You don't have to worry about "free ride" acts, and the GUI is user friendly. Good luck.
