Originally posted by lilpennypincher: [QB] Some DD......and info. I'm excited IBM is just the beginning Smart Chip has in the works.... Coming off the pinks by May 15th... Mr. Svigals has since revised his 2010 projection to $2 trillion in smart payment transactions and $12 billion in smart loyalty transactions. “Payment transactions using loyalty-incentivized, smart chip devices will grow at an annual rate of 75% over the next five years, to over $1.4 trillion. The revenues from loyalty transaction processing, including servicing and licensing, will exceed $8 billion by 2010, growing from a current nominal base.” EVEN BETTER! Smart Chip Technologies (OTC: SCTN) is a Software Technology Company with a "gateway" Patent and end-to-end Smart Rewards Management System. Smart Chip Technologies licenses its loyalty business process patent to Companies that are building smart chip solutions for North American, Asian, and Australian markets. Additionally, SCTN markets its smart card expertise and loyalty system globally to banks, retailers, OEMs, system integrators, and CRM systems. On the heels of one of the first and longest running successful U.S. smart card loyalty programs, Smart Chip Technologies is launching its next generation loyalty solution. e-llegiance™ is the multi-platform smart chip loyalty application engineered for EMV, Global Platform, and MULTOS compliance to simplify credit/debit card integration. This state-of-the-art Loyalty Program Management System is compatible with existing magnetic-stripe and bar code cards, and is forward compatible with the next generation of mobile commerce devices including smart cards, point-of-sale terminals, handheld PDAs, laptops, TV set top boxes, smart key fobs, and mobile phones. The loyalty system is also designed for compatible integration with applications such as electronic payments, CRM, transit, gaming, access, and security. SCTN provides complete rewards program management, transaction processing, and accounting services through its Loyalty Central™ software and back office operation. Industry luminaries are forecasting the North American Smart Card market to reach $3 Trillion by 2008 (Smart Card Alliance, 2001). The convergence of traditional retailing with global e-commerce and m-commerce, combined with the demand for fraud-resistant financial transactions and EMV (Europay/MasterCard and Visa) deadlines, is driving the migration to smart chip-based payments. Nearly 2 billion magnetic stripe payment cards in use today are expected to convert to smart cards by 2006. Smart Card markets are emerging globally and Smart Chip Technologies (SCTN), with its next generation rewards program management system in development and gateway-patents, is in the middle of this wave. What makes a card or consumer device "smart" is the microchip embedded in it. The microchip, which replaces the magnetic stripe commonly found on the back of other transaction cards, allows the storage and management of large amounts of data for one or more Financial, Telecommunications, Transportation, Security, Access, Healthcare, and Retail applications. SCTN's patent covers any application where customer loyalty data is stored on a portable device (chip/card) by a terminal or another base device. The Company’s “smart chip” integrated platform will enable merchants and banks to instantly process loyalty credits and rewards. Loyalty Central™ and e-llegiance™ provide maximum flexibility in the real-time management of click-and-mortar incentive programs, establishing business continuity across the physical, mobile, and virtual worlds. Smart Chip Technologies (SCTN) revolutionizes loyalty programs by providing instant, real-time management and redemption of loyalty points, rewards, and incentives. Bank Card Issuers and Merchants will have unlimited versatility to instantly administer and manage their customer rewards programs to fit changing needs. Originally launched as the "Kids Card" program, combining cardholder loyalty and charitable fund raising to benefit local schools, the Company's successful 4-year Production Trial was one of the first and longest running U.S. smart card rewards programs. e-llegiance™ is the multi-platform smart chip loyalty application engineered for EMV, Global Platform, and MULTOS compliance to simplify credit/debit card integration. The SCTN application allows a client to run a bar code and/or magnetic stripe card program simultaneously with smart cards in the same program, while conveniently migrating cards and POS terminals to advanced technologies one at a time. Given that financial card transactions will become smart-chip based within the next 2-5 years, Smart Chip Technologies offers a patent-protected, future-proof means of managing all customer loyalty programs on a single platform regardless of type. This dynamic rewards management system will grow along with a client in the midst of ever-evolving card, payments, and loyalty transaction processing industries. Smart Chip Technologies' turnkey customer retention solution: The New Standard in Smart Loyalty Retailers have been using reward programs for years. The impact of global goods and services offered via the Internet increases the competition for consumer attention. As a result, consumers are becoming more demanding and expect loyalty incentives. This is driving businesses to pursue more creative measures to differentiate themselves through innovative customer relationship management (CRM). Smart rewards programs have become the most convenient vehicle to establish continuity between the physical and virtual worlds. Smart Chip Technologies'(SCTN) loyalty patent claims cover the business process involved in the storage of any consumer incentive stored on a smart chip or device. Together with the end-to-end loyalty system, the patents provide a common platform for allocating and redeeming incentives, regardless of whether a sale is made online or at the local mall. The patents are influential in accelerating the international trend for loyalty and payment integration on portable devices, including smart cards, laptops, personal digital assistants, cellular phones and other Internet appliances. The technology independent, business process patent is key to SCTN's end-to-end loyalty solution, designed to meet device evolution from current smart card technology to future generations of smart portable devices. U.S. Patent # 5,806,045 issued September 1998 Australia Patent # 703349 issued October 1999 Mexico Patent # 200007 issued November 2000 Japan Patent # 3416141 issued June 2003 Canada Patent # 2182596 issued in April 2004 In his book, Smart Cards 2010, recognized industry expert Jerry Svigals confirmed that loyalty on a smart card is a significant market driver. He writes: current nominal base.” Mr. The revenues from loyalty transaction processing, including servicing and licensing, will exceed $8 billion by 2010, growing from a current nominal base.” Loyalty Patent Abstract U.S. Patent No. 5,806,045 “Method and System for Allocating and Redeeming Incentive Credits between a Portable Device and a Base Device.” A customer incentive system involving a plurality of service or merchandise providers comprises a customer-carried, portable device, a provider device, and a base device. To earn incentive credits, the customer enters into a transaction with one of the providers participating in the incentive system. A transaction amount is derived from the transaction and, based on this amount, an incentive credit amount is computed. The base device performs this computation by deriving an incentive code and cross-referencing this incentive code with all customer incentive codes stored on the customer-carried device and incentive program codes stored on the provider device to derive an incentive rate. This incentive rate is applied to the transaction amount to derive the incentive amount. The incentive amount is stored on the customer-carried device. To redeem the incentive credits stored on the customer-carried device, the customer enters into a second transaction with the same provider or another participating provider. A second transaction amount is derived from this transaction and the customer may choose to redeem some or all of the incentive credits stored on the customer-carried device to lower the transaction amount. When incentive credits are redeemed, they are subtracted from the incentive amount on the customer-carried device. By using a customer-carried device, transactions may be conducted off-line. Thus, no concurrent communications link with a central authority is needed. Mach. Wrapping up the quiznos deal.....should be today. Hold up on getting off the pinks due to tax time...auditors have everything and the MONEY! It's just getting them to finish up the red tape.
