PlanGraphics Awarded Homeland Security Interoperability Grant

Monday , November 15, 2004 09:17 ET

FRANKFORT, Ky., Nov 15, 2004 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- PlanGraphics, Inc. (Pink Sheets: PGRA) has been awarded a grant to develop an Internet-enabled emergency response system for the Kentucky Chemical Stockpile Preparedness Program (CSEPP) by the Kentucky Science & Engineering Foundation and the Public Safety and Security Institute for Technology at Eastern Kentucky University's Justice and Safety Center.

PlanGraphics' Spatial Templates for Emergency Preparedness (STEPs) methodology and software tools will be used to produce a prototype interoperable Internet portal for CSEPP over a 10-month period. Development of the emergency preparedness and response interoperability solution is considered to be a foundational activity that will give Kentucky CSEPP and its federal and U.S. Army agency and local government partners immediate access to a large range of mission-critical data and multiple applications needed to improve planning and enhance incident response by all CSEPP partners.

The prototype project will demonstrate both the procedures for designing an interoperability solution and the efficacy of the STEPs enterprise portal architecture and software. It will produce an affordable software product that can be deployed at a full-scale level following prototype completion to make accurate information immediately accessible and to better inform decision-making by presenting the information in a format that is easy to understand and use.

PlanGraphics, founded in 1979, is a full life-cycle systems integration and implementation firm providing a broad range of services in the design and implementation of information technology in the public and commercial sectors. PlanGraphics' experience with spatial information systems and e-services capabilities provides a critical discriminator among other IT consulting and integration firms. PLANGRAPHICS WINS $US1.57 MLN PROJECT IN CHINA

Thursday , November 11, 2004 00:41 ET

Nov 11, 2004 (AsiaPulse via COMTEX) -- (Full text of a statement. Contact details below.)

FRANKFORT, Ky.-(BUSINESS WIRE)-Nov. 4, 2004-PlanGraphics, Inc. (Pink Sheets: PGRA) has been awarded a contract to develop urban road pavement, bridge and drainage facility management systems for Guangzhou City, China.

The $1.57 million project, to be conducted over 22 months, is being financed by the World Bank.

Guangzhou is the capital city of Guangdong Province and is suffering severe traffic problems driven by recent economic growth.

Current road maintenance in Guangzhou is not keeping up with the increased strain on its infrastructure. The goal of PlanGraphics' project is to develop computerized pavement, bridge and drainage facility management systems (PBDFMS) that will be used to improve current road maintenance management.

The PBDFMS will include an integrated information management system and three individual systems for managing pavement, bridge and drainage facilities, respectively.

"The explosive economic growth in China makes rapid deployment of new technologies very important to mitigate the effects on infrastructure and the environment," said Minna Li, PlanGraphics vice president for international projects.

"With our previous and current work already under way in China, we are pleased to be able to undertake this project in Guangzhou City, as well.

"As China continues to invest in infrastructure development, this project will serve as an exemplary model for asset management systems."

PlanGraphics' New Xmarc Release Adds Functions

Monday , December 13, 2004 09:34 ET

FRANKFORT, Ky., Dec 13, 2004 (BUSINESS WIRE) --PlanGraphics, Inc. (Pink Sheets:PGRA) will launch release 2 of the Xmarc Enterprise Spatial (ES) software suite 6.1 on Jan. 2, 2005. The new release will add several key new functions.

For many Xmarc users, the most significant addition will be the "service metrics" function, which will provide performance and usage information for back-end services. It will allow the user to track system performance and make informed decisions about increasing or decreasing the number of service instances, and thus the system's operating costs.

Other added functions will include:

-- Image support: Xmarc Fire will be able to read MrSID and JPEG
2000 image file formats.

-- Audio recording: An audio recording capability will be added
to the Windows version of Fire. The user will be able to
select the recording format.

-- Service time zone management: Timed messages from running
services will now be displayed in local time rather than
Greenwich Mean Time.

-- Resource dialogues: Two new system tools will be added to the
Windows version of Fire. One enables a folder/directory to be
selected from a list; the other enables a color to be selected
or created.

The Xmarc Enterprise spatial suite is a middleware product that is complementary to industry standard relational databases and provides persistent and secure connectivity over an Internet/intranet connection as well as spatial query and rendering. This architecture is solid, reliable, scalable, secure and proven.
