I assumed that the problem existed only between our two homes, because we have RCN phone service as well. I called RCN on August 6 to report the problem. I e-mailed them the next day and received a replay stating that the problem had been reported. They promised that it would take 24 to 48 hours to repair the problem. I called RCN again on August 9 to tell them that I still couldn’t get through. The young man I spoke with (Daniel) told me that there was no record on a complaint. He promised to have the problem repaired. That night, we received a call from our grandson’s teacher who said that she had been trying to call my daughter all day, and the phone rang and no answering machine picked up. We were able to reach my daughter on our cell phones since they have a different area code. We then informed her that it was obvious that she could receive no local calls at all. She then called RCN to report the problem. Since that time, she had been unable to receive ANY calls from anywhere. Obviously, this would be a problem for anyone. However, in our case, we consider it to be of extreme importance. Our grandson is handicapped, and it is vital that his teachers be able to reach my daughter in the case of an emergency. As for me, I had a stroke two years ago, and it is very frightening to know that I cannot reach the relative who lives closest to me. My daughter tried to call RCN today and they hung up on her twice. She finally was able to speak with a woman named Siobbhan who was rude and said "So you have cell phone don’t you? What’s the problem". My daughter asked to speak with a supervisor and the supervisor refused to speak with her. We need to have this problem repaired IMMEDIATELY. Please help us.
