Regardless, Etrade will report very high write downs tomorrow. It is not time to buy at this level, it most likely will go below $2 again. Long term it will be fine...I'm not saying trading profits next year won't be down. They probably will. But in a few years out when the HELOC portfolio is off the books and its just the bank and trading earnings...you should see at least .50 EPS they were doing way over $1 prior to the HELOC issue, and share price north of $5.
