I've been staying away for the past two weeks, so this isn't hitting me too hard. Thank god. But on the upside, tonight will be a good night to go "shopping." LOL

Agreed. The only problem is you need money to actually buy something, otherwise you're just window shopping....not that that can't be fun, and is probably better if you can't spot a deal if it smacked you in the face anyways. It's hard to free up money on days like this.

Right, but Shopenhauers dog did it right. Sounds like he freed up his money a few weeks ago.

How I wish I had done that.

Humm. I think the market needed the ass-wonkering it got today.. Had it coming, some would say. Banks have been sliding sideways for weeks now, with the sub-prime defaults, housing slowdown and what not.. and it's a good warning sign when the big money wheelers can't seem to hold their value.

Schop's dog is smart, going all cash in times like these.

Here's the untold benefit of playing small- and micro-cap stocks tho.. they're often so irrational and disconnected from the market at large, that even when Wall St. is burning down, they don't sink.. but turn a profit.

Stocks Plunge on Lending Worries, Taking Dow Industrials Briefly Down More Than 400

NEW YORK (AP) -- Wall Street suffered its biggest plunge of the year Thursday, leading global markets lower as investors fled stocks amid increasing uneasiness about the mortgage and corporate lending markets. The Dow Jones industrials briefly fell nearly 450 points, while Treasury yields plunged as investors moved money into bonds.

agreed,
a correction well over due and probably not finished yet, the majority of americans as awhole are not prospering, the dow is bloated and way overpriced and does not reflect an accurate forecast of this countries economy ( which in many regions is a wreck)!

it looks to me like P&D on the grandest scale...

I wish I could say it was smart...but it would be more accurate to call it "beginner's nervousness." I'm still learning this game, so I tend to err on the side of caution until I feel as if I can do consecutive, small, good trades on my own. I've already been bagged a few times these past few months, so I don't feel as if I'm "there" quite yet. I'm keeping my capital invested quite low until I have some semblance of confidence.

You be laffin', but that's exactly what went down. Look at the end of the day, from 3:20pm or so.. that little rally -- that's the shorts buying back what they sold earlier on.

Some people made a ton of money today, and the wave of panic helped splendidly.

pull a five year chart and look at the 200MDA...
if we dont touch it? i'll be surprised...

if we break thru it? it'll prolly stay below it for a month... we should close the year about 8% up (on th e year) based on history...

but the housing/credit problem should take a couple points from that [Confused]

we are seeing a major fundamental shift into the "ethanol economy" and i don't know how to factor that in yet...

i DO know how to factor it into my weekly expneses tho...

too many people been partying on borrowed money for the last five years... time to pay up.. [Roll Eyes]

Hey Surfer...I'm going snowboarding out in Colorado this winter...I was wondering if you could recommend a good place to go, and do you know when the best time of the year is to go for powder. A friend says he likes Winter Park in April...ever been there? Any suggestions?
