CHICAGO, Dec 13, 2004 (BUSINESS WIRE) --Zacks Investment Research, Inc. and one of Zacks' featured advisors, Donald H. Rowe, and Rowe's publication, The Wall Street Digest, have concluded an investigation into the fraudulent use of our respective brands for the illegal promotion of a California company, Nicodrops, Inc. (Pink Sheets:NCDP). It should be noted that Nicodrops management and their investment relations firm, The Cervelle Group, fully cooperated in the investigation, and we believe that they are wholly innocent in this matter.
"Essentially, what we were dealing with here is the spoofing of our widely known brand "Zacks.com Profit from the Pros" in an email by some unscrupulous party to promote the Nicodrops stock for their own personal gain." stated Stephen Reitmeister, EVP of Zacks' Internet Group. "Along with the illegal use of our brand they also falsely featured one of our newsletter experts, Donald Rowe of The Wall Street Digest. The obvious intent here was to use 2 respected names in the investment industry to give their promotion the air of respectability. The fraudulent e-mail was sent to an unknown database of investors. Zacks' network administrators have determined that the investment research firm's site security was never compromised during the incident, which took place on or about December 1, 2004. Zacks and The Wall Street Digest will pursue all legal recourse in this matter to bring the guilty parties to justice.
