After trying for two days I finally got a short position on TZOO at $38 The next two days it went up over ten dollars to $49..wheeewwwww man o man ...but with a book value of .50 cents and a trailing p/e ratio of 233. Future earnigns valueation of 118. Wow!!! Yahoo's is 62. I don't believe there is a better short out there to have. Thing is good luck getting any but I suggest trying. Their website is www.travel*zoo.com If you need more info...Its such a joke at even $41 which was the close Friday.

interesting idea, i like it. careful though, you're sounding almost as skeptical and cynical as me! hope it pays off for you

I just noticed the Investors Business Daily took it from number 1 to number 2 on it's 100 list.

looks like the new TASR. careful with those shorts!!

It is under a short squeeze. A third of the float is shorted. But in the end there can be only one outcome. And that is an enormous fall. Doesn't matter if it runs to 90 bucks tomorrow, within another month, two tops it will be in the twenty dollar range. Gonna continue to try to get more shorts on this one. Good as money in the bank. Oh yea this surge has pushed its forward p/e ratio to 140.

i'm sure it will work out in the end just like TASR did. the trick is too average on the way up if you can. carefully of course

IT LOOKS LIKE TZOO IS HAVING IT'S DAY AND I'M NOT SO CONFIDENT ABOUT A SHORT POSITION ON IT. THEY HAVE THE STOCK UPGRADE AND THE PRICE IS REALLY MOVING. I SUGGEST YOU COVER YOUR SHORT TODAY AND LICK YOUR WOUNDS.

TZOO IS A VERY STABLE RESPONSIBLE STOCK AND THE THOUGHT OF IT FALLING FROM THESE LEVELS TO ME IS IMPOSSIBLE.

JUST FOR THE RECORD HERE FOLKS, MY LAST POST ABOVE THIS ONE IS A SPOOF. I PUT THIS OUT FOR THE FOLKS WHO MAY BE NEW OR SIMPLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND.

DO NOT TAKE MY PREVIOUS POST WHICH IS DIRECTLY ABOVE THIS SERIOUSLY. IT IS A POKE AT BRAND.

TZOO IS IN MY OPINION, COMPLETELY OVER-VALUED AND THE RISE TO $52 TODAY IS A SHORTERS DREAM IF YOU CAN CATCH A SHORT PLAY ON IT.

TZOO IS GOING TO FALL JUST LIKE MY K-MART (KMRT) WHICH CURRENTLY IS $80+ SHARE.

KEYWORD FOR IT:

PATIENCE

ALTHOUGH I SEE THE FALL COMING SOONER THAN MY BELOVED OVER-VALUED K-MART UNFORTUNATELY.

I never thought for a second you were serious, I knew your underlying message. But do appreciate you clearing that up.

here's another article about the absurdity that is TZOO:
http://biz.yahoo.com/fool/040909/1094754600_1.html

brand, i don't know what to say, except that i am rooting for you. what a *ridiculous* stock, it *has* to crash and burn. i agree with the linked article in that it's just completely disconnected from fundamentals and reality. it will have to crash in the end, but - yeesh, can't believe the ride this thing is on.

another interesting short-situation stock is JOSB. they released a very good Q today, beat expectations, yet - sunk. their short is a freakin' 57% of float!!

sometimes, the markets just make no sense and make you throw up your hands in disgust and wonderment.

blue_in_MI - posted
by comparison:

forward PE for JOSB: 13

forward PE for TZOO: 800 or so

JOSB - good Q today, beat expectations: dumps

TZOO - does squat today, up $8

truly absurd

I seen that Blue...Hilarious, Inmates running Travelzoo....I do have some concern in the short term about it continuing to run with the very small float and so many shares being held in short accounts...But I do know that it will be coming down...Its basicall just traders running the price up but it cant continue....I have been trying to get more shorts on it but unsuccessfully. There just aren't any to have right now....I have no fear at all within a month or less it will drop dramatically....At the same time noone likes to see continuous growing red in the portfolio.....Thanks for your contribution...

Will this loser ever stop going up...Forward P/E ratio is around 160 now. Trailing P/E ratio is 364.2 Yahoo's trailing P/E ratio is 125 and they have an income 400 times plus that of TZOO...I keep trying to get another short, but a no go... Just too many people already got it shorted.. As long as the traders continue to buy and play this one it will climb. But very soon the snowball will turn direction and roll DOWNHILL and when it does, I will be smiling. Cause right now I am pulling my hair out...

I AM SITTIN HERE IN COMPLETE AMAZEMENT OVER $65/SHARE FOR TZOO. I CAN NOT SAY A SINGLE THING ELSE ABOUT WHAT I FEEL WHEN I SEE $65/SHARE FOR THIS STOCK.

I HONESTLY SIT HERE AND PICTURE A GLITCH AND OUT OF THE BLUE, SEE TZOO DROP AND DROP AND DROP AND MAYBE THE GREATEST DROP ANY STOCK HAS EVER SEEN. I THINK THE ONLY THING MORE AMAZING THAT TZOO HITTING $65 RIGHT NOW IS OUR CONFIRMED LAUNCH DATE FOR QBID BEING 2095.

TZOO I SEE AS ONE OF THOSE INTERNET BUBBLES THAT HAS SURVIVED AND WILL POP BUT IT'S A MATTER OF WHEN AND WILL YOUR MARGIN ACCOUNTS HOLD THE SHORT FOR THAT PERIOD OF TIME. GEEZ...

I THINK ABOUT SOMETHING LIKE DELTA AIRLINES TRADING AT $4/SHARE AND MICROSOFT AT $27, WALMART AT $53 AND TARGET AT $47 AND GET READY FOR THIS..... SOMETHING LIKE TZOO TRADING AT $65/SHARE; INCREDIBLE. IF AT ANY POINT I THOUGHT K-MART WAS WAY WAY WAY OVER-VALUED; TZOO HAS COMPLETELY TAKEN A NO. 1 POSITION IN MY MIND. 2 YEARS FROM NOW WHEN TZOO IS FORGOTTEN ABOUT OR .001-.10/SHARE WE CAN LAUGH AND SMILE ABOUT TODAY.

I KNOW FOR CERTAIN TZOO WILL FALL BUT THE QUESTION IS: CAN MY PATIENCE AND MARGIN ACCOUNT HOLD OUT TO COVER THAT SHORT; RIGHT BRAND?

i know what you mean but you are using poor comparisons. you can't compare companies based on share price. ie... msft 27 vs tzoo 65. means nothing. i tried to short it yesterday but no shares available to borrow. might try again today

Well I hedged it this morning. Had to do somehting could not afford to cover and lose so had to take a long position to even out my losing on the short. Besides there are no shorts to get on this one. Anyhow long at 67.50 So let her climb now...Screw it I will keep a fairly tight stop loss and see if I can't work this stock....
