President Obama repeatedly assured Americans that after the Affordable Care Act became law, people who liked their health insurance would be able to keep it. But millions of Americans are getting or are about to get cancellation letters for their health insurance under Obamacare, say experts, and the Obama administration has known that for at least three years.
Four sources deeply involved in the Affordable Care Act tell NBC NEWS that 50 to 75 percent of the 14 million consumers who buy their insurance individually can expect to receive a “cancellation” letter or the equivalent over the next year because their existing policies don’t meet the standards mandated by the new health care law. One expert predicts that number could reach as high as 80 percent. And all say that many of those forced to buy pricier new policies will experience “sticker shock.”

“This says that when they made the promise, they knew half the people in this market outright couldn’t keep what they had and then they wrote the rules so that others couldn’t make it either,”

More on the link. The lies that were told about this mess should finally open some eyes. Democrats rammed this through with bribes and without reading it. Now look, and its just the first month of the rollout.

yup you are right cash its a mess. Obama may be the undoing of his own well intentions. Something the republicans could not do.

Oh this is sick

House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer conceded to reporters today that Democrats knew people would not be able to keep their current health care plans under Obamacare and expressed qualified contrition for President Obama’s repeated vows to the contrary.

“We knew that there would be some policies that would not qualify and therefore people would be required to get more extensive coverage,” Hoyer said in response to a question from National Review.

lies, lies, and more lies just to shove up the peoples butt. Seeing the scandals, cover ups, and misleading statements on so many issues, Obama has 3 more years to really show his true colors.

why is this all-of-a-sudden news?

it was obvious from the very beginning that people were going to have to upgrade their insurance because the Govt set a minimum standard for coverage.... Upside even went into great detail about this weeks ago..

teh T-Party didn't have to shutdown the Govt and threaten bankruptcy.... all they had to do was wait for this to dawn on people that didn't already know it..... i'm amazed at how many didn't...

CashCowMoo - posted
I know, I wish the tea party guys would have just let them fall on their sword. However, its getting so bad people are forgetting the shutdown, AND are giving it a pass because they see what they were protesting.

if the NSA will listen in on Merkel's personal phone (a friendly head of state with all kinds of treaties in place) ? they'll listen in and tap all the media people too- 1st amnedment be damned...

the love affair is over [Wink]

waht was it Bush said? the Constitution is "just" a peice of paper?

i belive this stuff was going on long before 9-11, it's just more complete and sophisticated now... FB and Google have made it possible to literally file and search EVERYTHING now [Wink]

before? they copied everything and stored it, so they could follow up on leads after the fact, NOW htey can search it real time with google bots and send out alerts for code wrods and phrases, and be pro-active towardds preventing whatever they are trying to prevent, which could be anything they don;t like...

i wonder if you misspell word and make up your ownlanguag? can the ggole bots decipher it and flag you?

The yea party will not get there way for a lot of reasons but mostly they are just to stupid to wage a war without destroying themselves.

So Ray you support the President, congress, and their staffers to be exempt from the holy grail Obamacare? Give me a break man. Wake up.

i'm sorry, but these people and that stupid woman in particular are animals. as in not human.

there's no point in having any insurance at all if you aren't going to cost-average the whole thing. all they did today was act like wolves that haven't fed in two weeks. who do you think pays for uninsured woemn to deliver babies right now? LOL...

those people i watched today are not even worhty of being meber of a wolfpack.

I watched the repubapigs to day and I feel they are sealing there chances in the next election. As in bye-bye baby.

You have to remember that these are the people that opposed affordable health care from the beginning and failed 43 times. They have not come up with any plan themselves for anything. Basicly they don't want anything to change let the poor get there healthcare on the tax payer, over load the emergency centers in the hospitals. And then let the rich be relieved of any of the tax burden.

Not going to matter when a ton of Obama voters are getting booted off their healthcare that they were totally fine with and forced to pay higher premiums.

Lots of static, right now.

Remember the "group gropes," fellas?

FUD?

True, this health-care act has been horribly mismanaged. Yet, it's also true that it's the first genuine attempt to bring affordable health-care insurance to the "rest of the folk."

Some folks complaining about losing their $50-a-month policy did not really have comprehensive policies, at all. They were scammed, and now they're complaining about having their scam taken away...

Reminds me of GLUV

yup.

Plausible deniability. There are so many segments of our framework running on their own agenda. And that's not funny.

i've never been a "fan" of Obamacare. I don't like being forced to buy private insurance. But the recent round of populist complaining about people losing good helath care and being "forced" into Obamacare don't float the boat neither...
this following story is a perfect example of why we desperately needed reform- dumb consumers

here's what is really happening to people;

Another Obamacare horror story debunked "Please explain to me," she told Maria Bartiromo on CNBC Wednesday, "how my plan is a 'substandard' plan when ... I'd be paying more for the exchange plans than I am currently paying by a wide margin."

Bartiromo didn't take her up on her request. So I will.

EXTRA: My camel meat meal in Somalia

The bottom line is that Cavallaro's assertion that "there's nothing affordable about the Affordable Care Act," as she put it Tuesday on NBC Channel 4, is the product of her own misunderstandings, abetted by a passel of uninformed and incurious news reporters.

I talked with Cavallaro, 60, after her CNBC appearance. Let's walk through what she told me.

Her current plan, from Anthem Blue Cross, is a catastrophic coverage plan for which she pays $293 a month as an individual policyholder. It requires her to pay a deductible of $5,000 a year and limits her out-of-pocket costs to $8,500 a year. Her plan also limits her to two doctor visits a year, for which she shoulders a copay of $40 each. After that, she pays the whole cost of subsequent visits.

This fits the very definition of a nonconforming plan under Obamacare. The deductible and out-of-pocket maximums are too high, the provisions for doctor visits too skimpy.

As for a replacement plan, she says she was quoted $478 a month by her insurance broker, but that's a lot more than she'll really be paying. Cavallaro told me she hasn't checked the website of Covered California, the state's health plan exchange, herself. I did so while we talked.

Here's what I found. I won't divulge her current income, which is personal, but this year it qualifies her for a hefty federal premium subsidy.

At her age, she's eligible for a good "silver" plan for $333 a month after the subsidy -- $40 a month more than she's paying now. But the plan is much better than her current plan -- the deductible is $2,000, not $5,000. The maximum out-of-pocket expense is $6,350, not $8,500. Her co-pays would be $45 for a primary care visit and $65 for a specialty visit -- but all visits would be covered, not just two.
