[QUOTE]Originally posted by rounder1: [QB] Here is the thing.... This is gonna be a long rant...so if your having trouble sleeping, by all means continue to read:) Obama is anti-gun...but that hardly matters. I will assume that you are correct in saying that he has not put forth any plans for circumventing the second ammendenment. I don't anticipate that he will. That Sacred Cow is not "ready to go to market yet"...and he knows it. I am quite sure that if he felt like the American people would accept it he would have already tried to do it. The 2nd is the right that if you come for, you better know you can win because you run the very real risk of setting off a "hot" revolution. Surfer's thinking is correct in my mind...I will try to refrain from maligning a political party because the idiocy of our government owes no allegiance to party. I don't know when...but I guarauntee at some point...following our current societal trajectory; the future will see an attempt at gun confiscation. I would imagine it will begin with regulations...making it difficult to buy, own, maintain, or qualify for ownership. I would expect severe and heavy taxes on Ammo. Couple that with what urban (and actually mean urban...not black) kids are being taught to think about guns and you will have diminshed numbers of gun owners in the future...by their own choice "be it from indoctrination or financial coercion." At some point in the future,Cetaris Paribus, the amount of people ferociously loyal to the right to bear arms will be substantially less than those that oppose it or those that don't care enough pick a side. At that point they will take that "sacred cow to market" and finally make the grab for REAL gun contol....think of it as a Prize Fight...no good pugilist starts off the fight throwing haymakers....use the jab, keep'em off balance, soften them up, read and react to feedback...you can tell when he is good and tenderized and ready for a nap...then take your shot. Try for the knockout to early and you open yourself up for a counter by a still strong opponent. That is why the "flaming" guncontrol idiots are not the ones to worry about. Those dumbazzes are playing checkers and not even that well....the ones that are content to simply poison the well with veiled rhetoric in order to influence the societal consciousness gradually are the scary ones...they know the fruit ain't ripe yet....they are playing chess. But I am sick of hearing about how the 2nd needs to be preserved for hunters, collectors, and enthusiasts....that is Horse****e. It was not incuded in the bill'O Rights for those reasons...It was included to ensure that if the people valued their Constitution, they had a means to fight for it against an oppressive government. I also believe that many of the founders knew in their hearts that at some point in the future, one of their succesive generations would have to look at their rifles and answer this question; "I have to do something with this gun...surrender it, or use it now...which of these two courses of action can I take and remain loyal to the idea man's natural state is Freedom." The 2nd ammendment is the one you can't afford to lose...as long as it is maintained, there is always CHANCE to hit the reset button I am of the opinion that if they come for my 2nd ammendment right then it is time for me to fully assert my 2nd ammendment right....but it would be a lot nicer if would never get to that point. Societal change is inevitable...but accepting anything is a first, small, step.....be sure its the direction you really wanna go before you take it....this is a big, powerful, country....its momentum will not be stopped easily once in motion.
