Originally posted by R1 Man: [QB] Gallons: L x W x Average Height x 7.5 = Gallons. Liner sizing. L = L +2D +2. W= W +2D +2. Its cheaper to build a pond once then to do what I've done 4 times. You can find pond pictures on my website to give you ideas. www.michigankoisupplier.com Fish stocking: Take total gallons and divide by 10. So a 1,200 gallon pond should have 120 inches of fish or less. For you to breed, I'd go bigger. What types are you looking to breed? Is Koi popular where you live? Liner needed is 45Mil. Do not buy 20 Mil. It will leak in a few years. Do not buy roofing liner (60 Mil). The chemicals used to make the liner leaches chemicals into the water that hurts fish. Buy your liner off EBay. Look for Pond-Depot, Graystone-Creations or TriumphetGlobal. They have great prices. Filter: Make this one. Buy tub off craigslist. Here is the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmhiyDCRTVM You can also make a bog which is easy. Take that tub and run 2" PVC in a "U" shape to the bottom of the tub. Cut small holes in it for water to leak out of the PVC. Fill bottom with Lava Rocks. Top it off with Pea Gravel. Put various plants in it to be creative. Pump...look on EBay for that. You need to pay attention to the WATTS. Some will drink energy like it was Kool-aid. Get something around 2,000-3,500 GPH that uses 160-225 Watts. I have a pool pump and I plugged it in for 2 weeks and my energy bill jumped $120. So a good pump will pay for itself. Call me if you have any questions. Number is on the website. If you need any Koi, I can get you shipped some for way less then you would spend at a pond store and better quality. Keep me posted. [/QB]
