Bachmann Stands By Widely Condemned Islamophobic Attack, Finds Ally In Glenn Beck
By Igor Volsky posted from ThinkProgress Security on Jul 19, 2012 at 6:26 pm

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) is doubling down on her Islamaphobic attacks against a top aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, even as a growing number of Republicans are repudiating Bachmann’s charges as “nothing less than an unwarranted and unfounded attack on an honorable citizen.”

During an appearance on Glenn Beck’s radio show on Thursday, Bachmann reiterated her suspicions that Clinton’s deputy chief of staff, Huma Abedin, has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, noting, “her late father who’s now deceased was a part of the Muslim Brotherhood. Her brother was a part of the Muslim Brotherhood, and her mother was a part of what’s called the Muslim Sisterhood.” Earlier this week, Bachmann accused Abedin of working on behalf of the Muslim Brotherhood in a letter with four colleagues to the State Department’s Inspector General demanding an investigation.

“[D]id she have to go through the same sort of process that anyone else has to go to,” Bachmann asked. “Did they check the boxes…That’s all we’re doing is asking a question.”

Bachmann also tore into her colleague from Minnesota, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) — one of two Muslim Representatives in Congress — and complained that he is obstructing her request for an investigation into Abedin’s alleged connections to the terrorist organization:

BECK: Okay. So when you wrote this letter, then Keith Ellison comes out. And Keith Ellison is ‑‑ he has a record of being the Mafia hitman.

BACHMANN: Well, he has a long record of being associated with CAIR and with the Muslim Brotherhood. CAIR is an unindicted co‑conspirator, as stated in the large terrorist financing case that we’ve had in the United States of America and so he came out and essentially wanted to shut down the inspectors general from even looking into any of the questions that we were asking. [...]

We’re asking that the inspectors general answer these questions, and Keith Ellison is trying to shut this, these questions down from getting addressed.

Sens. John McCain (R-AZ), Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Scott Brown (R-MA) have all condemned Bachmann’s charges, which some have suspected are being used for fundraising purposes.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) also condemned Bachmann’s remarks on Thursday, noting, “I don’t know Huma, but from everything I do know of her, she has a sterling character. And I think accusations like this being thrown around are pretty dangerous.”

I think we all know the job situation,,,I mean how could you not? But this thread is about Bachmans new blunder. Her district is just across town from me, so I know about this woman and she should be a cause of concern for the gop. I think she actually sways voters away from the repub party. So thats why this thread is significant at this point. Its pretty telling that you continue to try and avoid these types of things. You are a good barometer of the T-party way of doing business(thinking)....so....thanks for that. She,,again,,is out and out lying here. please read so you, too, can become more informed. Its a good thing, cash

Cash, if you are so interested in where the jobs are start a post with that topic. This post is about Bachman and her big dumb remarks about another person.

And while you are at at it let us known what your republican plan is for creating more jobs hear in the USA and helping the unemployed.

Where is your nose Cash? Don't change the subject. [Smile]

Bachmann is a loony. Keith Ellison is a regular guy. The letter is a publicity stunt for a failed presidential candidate who has lost her spotlight and had her area of control redistricted with the last census.

Chairman Of House Intelligence Committee Drops Support For Bachmann’s Islamophobic Witchunt
By Ali Gharib on Jul 21, 2012 at 1:01 pm

Before facing heat this week for her paranoid quest to root out Muslim Brotherhood influence on the U.S. government, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) got support from the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Mike Rogers. But today, Rogers distanced himself from Bachmann’s allegations about Muslim-Americans.

In an interview with the USA Today, Rogers responded to a wave of criticism about Bachmann’s allegations about Huma Abedin, a top aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Rogers said:

That kind of assertion certainly doesn’t comport with the Intelligence Committee, and I can say that on the record. I have no information in my committee that would indicate that Huma is anything other than an American patriot.

This was not an activity that was sanctioned as any intelligence committee matter.

Rogers was singing a different tune earlier this month when he appeared on a radio show hosted by Islamophobe Frank Gaffney, a sometime Bachmann advisor and source of her attacks. Gaffney asked him about the Brotherhood’s “influence operation” within the government, particularly about the cleansing of Islamophobic F.B.I. training materials. Rogers said:

Well we are revisiting some of those decisions and a member of my committee Michele Bachmann is kind of taking the lead on this particular issue and going through and trying to figure out what they took out of the training materials and what they left in and why did it get changed? And why the agressive language change and how we teach about the Islam religion and radicalism in Islam.

All of that stuff is very, very important to go through and determine if they have been politicized or not.

Bachmann and Gaffney, for their parts, have stuck to their charges. Bachmann took more bipartisan heat this weekend for doubling down and accusing Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) — who has led the charge to demand evidence of Bachmann’s allegations — of being “associated with… the Muslim Brotherhood.”

Romney Adviser Bolton Backs Bachmann’s Anti-Muslim Witch Hunt
By Ben Armbruster posted from ThinkProgress Security on Jul 24, 2012 at 6:48 pm

John Bolton (R) with Frank Gaffney
Today on Center for Security Policy president Frank Gaffney’s radio show, Mitt Romney foreign policy adviser John Bolton defended Rep. Michele Bachmann’s (R-MN) call for the U.S. government to investigate suggestions that government employees — including a top aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton — are affiliated with a Muslim Brotherhood plot to infiltrate the U.S. government.

Bolton has direct ties to the Romney campaign, serving as an unpaid adviser that regularly appears at campaign events stumping for the presumptive GOP presidential nominee. “John Bolton insists on good results for America and is someone I respect,” Romney said in December. “I think he’s a fine man with great capacity.”

On Gaffney’s radio show today (Gaffney is the brains behind Bachmann’s campaign), Bolton said Bachmann and some of her fellow Republicans are just asking questions, adding that he’s “mystified” by the criticism Bachmann has received:

BOLTON: What I think these members of Congress have done is simply raise the question, to a variety of inspectors general in key agencies, are your departments following their own security clearance guidelines, are they adhering to the standards that presumably everybody who seeks a security clearance should have to go through, are they making special exemptions? What is wrong with raising the question? Why is even asking whether we are living up to our standards a legitimate area of congressional oversight, why has that generated this criticism? I’m just mystified by it.

Bolton joins right-wing luminaries Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh in defending Bachmann’s anti-Muslim witch hunt but many top Republicans — Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI) — have criticized the Minnesota Congresswoman’s crusade.

As usual, no substance and reverting to name calling. I have never even thought about going to a TP rally so as usual...making things up like others here to fit your own argument.

I think many people are shaped by where they lived and who they were around in their earlier years.

Not that some people don't change later for different reasons, but from what i have seen the basic ideals stay similiar, although sometimes blided by money etc.

I can't think of anyplace where there are more diverse people to be around (especially middle to low) than being in the Military, maybe there is?

As if the Obama camp couldnt get any lower, they reach a new low with misleading ads to the public. Hows this for a foot in it.

OOPS!

Obama camp denies knowledge of cancer tale it told in May

Oops? President Barack Obama's re-election campaign washed its hands Wednesday of an independent group's vicious (and misleading) ad effectively blaming Mitt Romney for the death of a laid-off steelworker's wife from cancer. Campaign officials flatly denied any knowledge of the facts in the case—but it turns out the widower told the same story on an Obama campaign conference call in mid-May. (The Obama campaign responded late in the day: See update below).
"We have nothing, no involvement, with any ads that are done by Priorities USA. We don't have any knowledge of the story of the family," Obama campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters aboard Air Force One on Wednesday.
The ad features Joe Soptic, who lost his job and his health benefits after Romney's Bain Capital closed the GST Steel plant in Kansas City, Mo., in 2001. Soptic later told CNN that his wife had health insurance through her own employer from that point to 2002 or 2003, when she left that job because of an injury—a detail that undermines the ad's heartbreaking narrative.
"I don't know the facts about when Mr. Soptic's wife got sick, or the facts about his health insurance," deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter told CNN on Wednesday.
But there's a problem. As Politico first reported, Soptic told essentially the same story in a May 14, 2012, conference call hosted by the Obama campaign.

LOL

UPDATE, 5:51 pm: Reached for comment, Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt reiterated that the campaign "didn't produce" the ad and tried to shift the attention to Democratic criticisms of Romney's business record.

You got to love how they can not tout the "big economic turnaround" the promised and claimed in 2009 was happening...just keep on going after Mitt for petty and worthless things that the voters could care less about. You know, the kind of stuff pagan or ray keep regurgitating on here over and over.

Now, I must go back to enjoying my tea and laughing along with Obama about how "shovel ready" jobs were never REALLY shovel ready as sold.

dumb cashcowmoo. the turnaround did happen. we were so screwed your brain is unable to comprendez where we were headed. i toldja then i'll tell you again, we were headed to total social disintegration, people killling each other for food was only 60 days away at any given time in htat two and half year period..

you fools don't have any clue how much credit runs our food prodcution process....
and your guns won't grow meat wheneverybody is taking everything they can find on sight? it will all be gone and or hoarded in 10 days. event he vennison.
thank God they didn;'t listen to the likes of you and Palin and the other freaks that think they know economic principles....
even Bush knew better than you do and he's wetodded.

the cities would have emptied fast, and the citifolk and the slicktalker on TV woulda been dropped on sight in the boonies when they tried to steal the crops there. and peopl like me would been working guard duty on th ecrops for food, no cash.

glassman - posted
even today? we have exactly 72 days of food on hand. do you understand what i am telling you cash?

that level dropped to about 62-63 days in late 2007, and there was nocredit available to ANYBODY to buy seed, plant, treat for fungus and insects, harvest, and eliver raw grain to be made into food. and they all use credit, very few growers have cash enough to actually run for a year without going BK, and even if they do? they have to have supplies that are bought form others who used cedit to get them.. see how fragile it all really is today? in fact it's always been that fragile, peopl just refuse to contemplate it becuase they want to "feel safe" see my quote below cash. it is about you.

the credit was used up by the g-dmn traders who had created a makret that made no sense to anybody. 72 days cash, that's how much food we have no more noo less. the economy cannot be alloweed to swing like that.
