Well, that flyover was pretty cool. I was thinking that NO had this, but GB is dominating. The passing is amazing.

Aaron Rodgers is a bona-fide bad-ass

it was good game, too bad one had to lose. I think Rodgers is going to get picked off alot this year if he keeps throwing that way. It seemed to me that NO could have easily picked three of those receptions that looked great, the Defense was just not looking for the ball at the right time...

if he does keep throwing that way and he doesn't get picked off, he will have friggin awesome year, but several of those throws were catchable by either O or D.

since i have gotten over being a fan of the Dedskins, i like NO and GB, and since NO is closer i'da rather seen them won it.

ESPN has some new way of calculating Quarterback ratings...

Seems Rogers did pretty well in their estimation.

Do the Saints have those crazily-athletic D-backs they usta have, when they were picking everything and anything?

glassman - posted
yeah, they were step for step with GB's receivers but Rodgers put the ball right where it needed to be, and the Dbacks were not looking, hence the receptions, but at least two and maybe three of those receptions would have been ITCed if the d-backs had looked, defintley good when they are not looking but it's not a long way from hero to dog when you are threading theball that tight play after play.

Indy didn't do well today, and i liked seeing Pittsburgh get used by The Ravens [Wink]

watching the dedskins now, but i am not seeing them play at NO or GB levels...

it's way too early to call, but i like the idea of NO and GB playing again for the NFC title...

I like GB mostly cuz they are fan owned, i like that alot.

Loved the redskins DE bat/INT return.

Hated Romo/loser/bonehead diving for the goal... Romo's gotta go-go. On paper? Cowboys were 2 TD losers; on the field, we had it pretty much tucked away until Romo reverted to rookie chit.

glassman - posted
yeah, i couldn't beleive he coughed it up there... that's kinda how he's always played tho...
if Romo makes it in? he's a hero, made something outa nutt'n, but he didn't, and then he coughed.

i've toldja before that one of my hobbies is rooting against the Boyz and the Yankees, but i wouldn't rub that loss in on anybody. It actually reminds me of watching the redskins for the last 12 years... seen it a couple dozens times, finding new and unusual ways to lose games [BadOne]

how about Indy and Atlanta? it's a long season, but they didn't show up this week.

i ain't gonna get my hopes up for the 'skins this year, but i guess i can't call 'em ded after that game.... i left the DC area 20 years ago now and i really don't like the new owner. I know th eYankees regularly prove that you CAN buy a championship, but that doesn't mean i'll root for peopl who think that way...

Philly and Vick look hard to beat, but i ddin't see the game. I heard a comment that Vick was not well protected and that will end up hurting him. Sometimes the team just won't coalesce around a guy like Vick after they get the 10 million dollar signing bonus [Wink]

I was to say something about the Army NAvy game today....ooohhh so close. Sailor boys win though. As for the Saints Packers.....definitely a game to watch.

glassman - posted
OK, so we are getting close, and i have to say that i am rooting for the Giants tomorrow.

I know that would screw up my Saints V the Packers for the NFC championship, but i am rooting for the Saints and i don't want them to have to go to lambo feild....

course they have to get past the 49ers today, and i haven't seen the 49ers play once this year...

glassman - posted
i've watched alot of football this season, and i've never seen a secondary be allowed to play as "physical" as the 49ers have been this game...

i've seen the steelers get penalised many times for helmet to helmet where the 9ers are getting free pasess, and pick up a resulting fumble, and then a Dback pushes a receiver down and then gets the interception...

or tripping a receiver and no flag?

not trying to take away from the 9ers D- just wondering why the refs are not being consistent...

should be a good second half...

glassman - posted
well it was a good second half, but not good for the Saints... i guess i'll be rooting for GB after all [Were Down]

now you guys all know why i don't bet on sports...

sheesh, the only team i picked this weekend was the Patriots and i hate them....

this bounty scandal is a joke.

anybody who's ever played knows that.

i used to get stickers on my helmet in high school...

i always looked forward to sticker handaout day the most of all practice days. game day was the best. pure adrenalin all day long

as to the bounties? 1500$ is a bottle of wine to many of these guys. that ain't chit.

people even in DC cheered when Taylor broke Heisman er i amean Theismans leg... many Skins fans hated him cuz he was not as good as his mouth.

football is a contact sport. so is Nascar... life is good.

right on......i watched that Theisman game.....that hit was great.

what's funny to me is that i studied (lirterally) Judo for years before i put on pads...

Judo takes not hurting your opponent as you control their whole body at one time to a very high art form.
It is actually considered bad from to hurt your opponet, but we all know peopl get hurt.

my instructor always blamed the guy who got hurt fro not accepting that he was being Controlled and taking the fall with grace. alot of people got broken collar bones, and that is from grabbing onto your opponent while you are going down instead of slapping (literally) the mat to dissipate the shock you are about to take......

when i got to football? at first my coaches critisized me for not "crushing" people. so i changed my ways and they were very happy... of course chokes and armbars were still frowned on in football [Big Grin]

here's a good example of basic Judo being used to Control somebody who supposedly knows how to fight, nothing fancy about it, plain and simple Judo beginners techniques- note how the guy slaps the mat before he passes out? i watched and even "had" many people refusae totap the mat and then they passed out. that was also considered bad form on the part of the "victim"

a man's gotta know his own limitations [BadOne] :

one more thing about that match? in a Judo sanctioned match? the Judoka won with a full point (IMO) called Ippon at 46 seconds. It si the opinion of the Judge whether a throw is a full point or a half point (wazari). A full point or two half points ends the match on the spot. The reasoningbehind that is obvious from the eventual outcome of the match anyway. Control has been demonstrated and relinquishing that once attained is unthinkable. [Wink]

so, people who think football should be less dangerous should watch this video, it's one of the gret fights of the world, and it's between one of the best ju jitso fighters and one of the best Judo fighters, it could beboring tot he unintiated cuz they spend about 90% of the time to break each others limbs off. The fight really revolves around getting the proper grips rather then actually applying the pressure of the grip. The end is rather quiet becuase Royce Gracie doesnot tap out and passes out for split second. Those of you who have sympathy for him should not, he's a dirty fighter, i can show you dozens of fights where he doesnot respond instantly to the referees tap and stop when he wins with arm and legbars or chokes, i can show a vid where he clearly deliberatley steps on the back of the head of an oponent laying facedown on the gorund that he has already (barely) beaten, and who is nearly unconscious if not choked out...

it's slow to watch, it's in japanese, and it is a fascinating display of the closest thing you will legally see to a hand to fight to death outside of warzone:

boxing? LOL, boxing is for sissies.

Gracie was a great Jiu-Jitsu fighter but only with the gi...Once the mainstream circuits went away from the gi the traditional Judo and Jiu-Jitsu fighters (sadly) started to fade away...Completely different art to fight without a gi...

As far as boxing lol...I completely agree...They can keep Klitschko, Hopkins and Mayweather...My money would be on Dos-Santos, GSP and Henderson...The fight would be over before Larry Merchant even had a chance to make himself look like a complete jack-ass...

wow, happy valley, i was beginning to think i was the only person here who likes the martial arts...

i wish that when i got out of the Navy back in th e80's i had actually followed up on my ideas to bring more 'realistic" fighting to the US public, i had been to places where they were fighting in asian martial arts for money and thought that the US could do it too given right circumstances, but i didn't see myself as promoter/develper then, just as afighter who had destroyed too much of my shoulder to do it anymore...

the asians also fight chickens for big money and while i didn't think that i aproved of cokfighting then? i eventually learned by raising gamechickens myself that unlike dogs, chickens fight to the death cuz they evolved to do it and that the hens actually sit/stand by and "egg them on" [Big Grin] it's now illegal in 48 states, and i don't care one way or the other but i saw people betting briefcases full of cash in asian pitfights...
