When I was 4, my parents got a divorce. Custody of me and my siblings were given to my father, and my mother moved away and never kept in contact. The family on my fathers side had basically excommunicated my mother and because she moved around a lot, after 2-3 years, no one knew where she was anymore.

When I reached the age of 8 or so, I began to have a recurring dream that would happen regularly at least once every month or two. In this dream I was wandering through the desert near an oasis, and kept seeing a woman who was always just out of reach. She was calling for me but I never could hear what she was saying, nor could she hear me when I would shout back. If I moved towards here, she would get farther away.

When I reached the age of 13, I was still having this dream and had just returned to school from summer vaction. A good friend of both me and my siblings had also just returned from a vacation from Utah she had taken with her family. Her and I were very close, and on the first day back to school we would always hang out and share our summer stories. This particular year when we met up, she had a strange look on her face. Puzzled, I asked her what was wrong and she proceeded to tell me about her vaction.

Her and her family had spent the bulk of their time at a popular hot springs resort in St. George. One afternoon, while relaxing in the springs, she noticed a woman sitting next to her who she said looked just like one of my sisters. They struck up a conversation, and long story short, this woman ended up being my birth mother. This friend got her contact info, which she shared with me, and I have been in contact with her ever since.

Now... Fast forward a few years.

When I turned 18, I began having another recurring dream.

In this dream, I had taken a trip to Mexico with a few friends, and had become seperated from the group. They looked everywhere for me and I looked everywhere for them and I could not find them. Giving up, they all got in the car, and left me stranded in Mexico. I began to panic as to how I would get back home when suddenly a dark colored Chevy Trailblazer pulled up and the passenger door opened. Inside was a good friend named Mike, who I had been friends with for several years, but hadn't been in contact with, (nor even thought about for that matter), since I was around 11 or so because I switched schools and lost contact with him. In this dream he offered me a ride back to the US when I got back the dream would be over.

That same winter I got a job at a Christmas Tree farm loading trees onto peoples cars. One afternoon, I got a call from another friend, saying he wouldn't be able to give me a ride to and from work, (I didn't have my licence yet), during the next week because he was leaving the next day for a trip to Mexico. That night, I had the same dream about being stuck in Mexico. The next day, near closing time, I had just about finished everything I needed to do and with only 5 minutes left until I was out of there, a black Chevy Trailblazer pulled up into the lot. I walked over cursing this last minute lucy, (and cursing the 4 mile walk I had in front of me), and walked over to the vehicle. Long story short, my friend Mike was the driver, and saved me from the long walk home during the next week until my other friend returned from Mexico. I have been in contact with him ever since.

Fast forward to the present day.

Last night I had another recurring dream. I won't go into any details, but it featured a woman that I've never seen before that I was apparently involved with. (Sorry ladies and gents but it was a rated "G" dream). The first portion of this dream involved our relationship but near the middle, we lost each other while wandering in some kind of "cult" mall. (Don't ask, I don't get it either... I just know it was a mall filled with "cult" members). The rest of the dream consisted of me going all over the place trying to find her. Long story short, the only other times I have had recurring dreams were the two I mentioned earlier.

I am not one to believe in the supernatural or anything like that, (I am probably the biggest skeptic that has ever lived), and normally I would just dismiss this latest dream like any other dream, but based on my previous exeriences with recurring dreams I am begining to wonder what this latest dream means.

Has anyone here ever experienced anything like this before?

P.S. I suspect that some will poke fun at me about this or suggest I am making this up, but after last night's dream I just felt I needed to finally share this with someone.

interesting, i think the cult mall is organised religion in general. The US has hundreds of recognised religions (for tax purposes)

i can rarely ever remeber any of my dreams, but i do have recurring dreams that i remembr in my dreams, sound confusing? it is to me too- that's why i don't really remeber my dreams. I can wake up knowing i had a dream that was part of larger story either recurring (repeating) or serial (like TV shows) as in i had dreams before that were connected to it.

One other odd thing for me? Even tho i don't really remember them? I often feel that i am having other peoples dreams. They are cohesive, but they don't have anything to do with me at all...

ive never had dream that came true per se, but i have often strongly felt that i had dreamed i was in a situation before it happened and didn't remeber the dream until i was in the situation. They also call that deja vu.

Perhaps. I only used the term "cult" because in my dream somehow I knew that everyone in the mall was connected to each other, but it never really was clear what the connection was other than that they were the group and I was being accepted into it through my relationship with the "mystery woman".

That happens to me almost every time I have had a recurring dream. Once I realize in my dream that I've "been here before" it changes. The overall theme and main events stay the same but minor details can vary, though often I do not have "control" of the variables, like one is supposed to have when you are "lucid dreaming".

I've been reading some stuff about dreams today, and I think I am going to start keeping a notepad and pencil on my nightstand. Several websites suggest that people often forget most or all of their dreams shortly after they wake up and so supposingly the quicker you write it down, the more details you will remember.

Also, I ran across this "List of Notable Dreams" on Wiki that is pretty interesting.

This is probably a total coincidence, but I met my wife, (who is Catholic), at a Starbucks in a mall complex down the road from where I currently live, in Dec of 2010, just 6 months after my dream... We married a year and a half later. Weird!!!

yes I to have recurring dreams one I have had for over 50 years. It involves going to a small town that can only be reached on a walking path once their I have all kinds of small adventures good and bad. And these adventures keep getting updated with my life. Some times they involve my personal history other times the future that does not always come true. That is all I have to say about this subject.

I've had recurring dreams too that always revolve around my lesbian neighbors. They always want to give up their homosexual lifestyle and be introduced to a true heterosexual one and I'm the one they choose as the catalyst.

Ray, how much control do you have in your lucid, recurring dreams? For me, I seem only to be able to control certain specific decisions in the dreams, particularly choices that in the dream would result in great danger or death to myself or others. In these critical moments, I can make a choice which changes the outcome from the previous occurrence of the dream, but the rest of the dream continues on without any other conscious input.

I have read that the level of control of one's dreams varies from person to person, but also that control can be increased with "practice".

Upside, you are still trying to connect with your lesbian neighbours? LOL... If only the lucid, recurring dreams I had were that much fun.... I would probably sleep for days on end. My wife would start to get suspicious... Hah!

What about you buckstalker? IWISHIHAD? Ever have any lucid or recurring dreams?

NR, I really don't have a lot of control as to events that happen but I seem to have control as to where I want to go and I am familiar with a lot of places in town. Such as strip bars dept. stores.
The funny thing is there are vehicles of every kind in this town and no one has ever revealed to me how they got there and everybody just says they have always been there.

Two things I would like to say that have actually helped me in life one is my father past away about 12 years ago he always loved to work on cars he lives in this town and he is a very well thought of and respected auto mechanic that owns his own shop and he gives me good advice on life. the other thing at the end of this walking path there is an armed guard who does not let every body in.

I saw this other day surfing the web and you came to mind Upside. Thought you would get a laugh out of it.
