Did anyone else happen to watch that FSU v Miami game last night on ESPN? What a slugfest! One of the more exciting games I have seen in a few years.

Swine Flu Won't Hurt Ole Miss' Season
Posted by Derek Smith September 10, 2009 8:16 PM
Categories: Football

Ole Miss Football practice was shallow Wednesday with 26 players out with the flu. As of today, officials were still trying to identify the virus, but it is believed to be the H1N1 Swine Flu. Among athletes affected were hot-shots Jevan Snead, wide receiver Shay Hodge, right tackle John Kerry, and Dexter McCluster, who spent Tuesday night in the hospital. In all, there were about 381 Mississippi students who reported flu-like symptoms according to University Officials. Although the football team has been hard hit by this nasty virus sweeping the country, the Rebels dream season shouldn't be affected.

Week two of the NCAA football season, just so happens to be the Rebels bye week. Having a week off should be plenty of time for conditioned athletes to recover.

Picking "The U" over G-Tech tonight on ESPN. The Canes might be back, but this will be a big test. Then next week they have V-Tech, then the week after the Sooners. They have quite a tough schedule the first 5 weeks. All four teams they play are ranked. FSU was the first.

Anyone else with any predictions?

Great game last night. Canes put on quite a show. G-Tech got manhandled!

Texas V T Tech only 13 points at half?

Now after FSU dominated BYU, what can we garner from this? BYU beat the Sooners, but BYU was destroyed by FSU. Does that mean the Sooners are that bad? Or that FSU is finally pulling things together this year. Today's new rankings ought to be interesting to say the least.

I'd say both FSU and Miami are finally starting to put the Pieces back together...

As for the Sooners...BYU beat an Oklahoma team minus their Heisman trophy winning QB for the entire second half and All American TE Germain Gresham for the entire game...Just not the same offense without these two guys...Not taking anything away from BYU, was a great win for them...Just don't think Oklahoma loses with Bradford and Gresham on the field...

Who is your team then?

I was happy to see USC lose. Tired of hearing how great they are. Yeah they beat OSU but they only scored 1 touchdown....the other was a GIFT.

OSU 4 life!!!

Crew removed from Oct. 31 game

Associated Press

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Southeastern Conference has suspended officials from last weekend's Arkansas-Florida game after the crew was involved in its second controversial call of the year.

Referee Marc Curles' crew called a personal foul on Arkansas defensive lineman Malcolm Sheppard in the fourth quarter as the Gators were rallying for a 23-20 victory. The league said there was no video evidence to support the call.

Fish: Shouldering The Blame
Marc Curles, who blew the call in the Arkansas-Florida game, owns up to the boo-boo, writes Mike Fish. Story

The same group of officials called the LSU-Georgia game earlier this month, which included a late unsportsmanlike conduct penalty the league said shouldn't have been called.

"A series of calls that have occurred during the last several weeks have not been to the standard that we expect from our officiating crews," SEC commissioner Mike Slive said Wednesday. "I believe our officiating program is the best in the country. However, there are times when these actions must be taken."

SEC associate commissioner Charles Bloom said this is the first time the league has publicly suspended a football crew like this.

The SEC says the crew will be removed from its next scheduled assignment Oct. 31 and will not be assigned to officiate as a crew until Nov. 14.

The league said the crew's bowl assignments could also be impacted.

"The entire crew shoulders responsibility for each play. I have taken this action because there must be accountability in our officiating program," Slive said. "Our institutions expect the highest level of officiating in all of our sports and it is the duty of the conference office to uphold that expectation."

Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino said in a statement: "We took the appropriate steps to address any issues we had with the league regarding this matter earlier in the week. Our focus as a football team has been and remains on this weekend's game against Ole Miss."

Yea, and it was such a close game too. It sucks! Be nice to have a rematch, but that wouldn't change anything, gotta stay on schedule.

the first bad call i could chalk up to a mistake,

but there were several in a row that were worse than bad judgement IMO, and they all favored the reptiles...

i'm not even a fan of either team, and don't bet on sports.

another call for Fla that is bogus.

the officials gave them a TD on a fumble... they'll be showing this one in highlights all week.

Could end up being a close game between South Carolina v Gators. I'll still take the Gators.

Also the Utah v TCU game could go either way. I think Utah will pull the upset.

And last but not least, Iowa v Ohio State. Will take the Buckeyes over Iowa. Iowa was exposed last week IMO.

SC was in the game till they turned it over... still some time left, but it looks like they can't pull it together after the interception...

Update: It's now 55-21 Stanford. I think the USC mystique has been quashed this year.

Glassman, yea, Gamecocks were hanging tough, but that TO could be a backbreaker.
