MEET THE MEMBERS OF THE MOB.... The Wall Street Journal had an interesting item today on President Obama's town-hall event in New Hampshire. It noted, among other things, the gathering of protestors outside the event that "verged on a street brawl," with "opposing forces lined up like screaming armies on either side of the street."

One of the protestors, in particular, brought a unique perspective.

Diane Campbell of Kingston, N.H., held a sign with Mr. Obama's face superimposed on a Nazi storm trooper, a sign, she said, that was made by her chronically ill mother.

Her mother's hereditary autoimmune disease is treated with expensive transfusions of gamma globulin, paid for by Medicare. Her sister, Louise, was born with no arms and one leg, and is also covered by Medicare, the government-run, health-insurance program for the elderly and disabled.

"Adolf Hitler was for exterminating the weak, not just the Jews and stuff, and socialism -- that's what's going to happen."

Now, my goal is not to pick on Diane Campbell, whom I do not know. She's quite clearly confused, though, and has come to believe some ridiculous lies. Campbell has apparently been so enraged by the right-wing nonsense she's been told, she feels entirely comfortable going out in public with signs comparing the president to a Nazi, and telling a reporter, on the record, that health care reform is comparable to Hitler's Holocaust.

But let's not overlook the irony of Diane Campbell's situation. Government-run, taxpayer-financed health care has kept her mother alive. Government-run, taxpayer-financed health care provides treatment and care to her sister. Based on the descriptions, it's safe to assume the costs associated with treatments for Campbell's mother and sister are enormous, but taxpayers and a socialized health care system pick up the tab. What's wrong with that? Not a thing.

Except, of course, that Diane Campbell is now trying to convince people that health care reform is both radical and dangerous.

I'm reminded once again of something Josh Marshall said the other day, about a different right-wing protestor: "[L]et's all collectively throw a little cold water on our faces and just realize that this is some really crazy stuff. The health care debate is now being driven by a perverse nonsense feedback loop in which the Palin/Limbaugh crowd says all sorts of completely insane lies, gets a lot of ... how shall we put it, impressionable people totally jacked up over a bunch of complete nonsense."

you're right we're done.

when they let total morons into town halls have a poltical voice? we are toast.

it's death by a thousand paper cuts.

you just cannot have a decent debate with an idiot

the logic here is so perfect. we NEED a freemarket economy, we need to allow companies to fail so that we can start new co's from scratch that will be better.

who cares if poor people don't have health care cuz they are lazy ignorant bums that don't deserve it....

oh, wait a minute, that's the wrong argument for today, today we are arguing that the govt will provide limited health care for all and only successful productive people will be allowed access?

sheesh... i think we left the lead in the gasoline for wayyyyy tooooo long [Big Grin] ...

People are mad...not just about health care about everything. They are holding the congresspeople accountable and it isnt looking to good for the congressmen and senators signing bills without reading them.

why did it take so long? these people weren't mad when Bush was in office.

this stage was set (other than health care) two years ago.

Because under Bush the crash didnt peak like it did under Obama. Also, Bush didnt overpromise like Obama did when running for President. He told everyone everything they wanted to hear more than the average politician.

Obama, Pelosi, Frank, etc Are the most liberal of the liberal. It doesnt get any worse than that, and most of America is moderate that leans right. You give the extreme left the stage and boy it goes downhill fast.

when a company gets in trouble? they have two options fold up shop or find more money.

the US was in trouble in 2003, we had cops cars sitting in garages cuz we didn't have the money to gas them up states were cutting jobs.

what was Bush's plan? give out free money. they gave tax rebates. 2 of 'em, they encouraged everybody to borrow money and go shopping. people did. nad that is what caused the economy to collpase.

Bush actually said it was our patriotic DUTY to go shopping...

Remarks by the President to Airline Employees
Chicago O'Hare International Airport
Chicago, Illinois
September 27, 2001

Excerpt:

?When they struck, they wanted to create an atmosphere of fear. And
one of the great goals of this nation's war is to restore public
confidence in the airline industry. It's to tell the traveling
public: Get on board. Do your business around the country. Fly and
enjoy America's great destination spots. Get down to Disney World in
Florida. Take your families and enjoy life, the way we want it to be
enjoyed.?

then he cut taxes, and some people argued that would generate even more income for the govt. in reality the deficit soared.

has Obama and the Democrats in Congress increased that spending? YES! but what else could they do?

when a company (or a country) is faced with bankruptcy? they have two choices, borrow money and work on becoming solvent again or fold...

people say cut spending, well guess what happens when you cut spending? the GDP drops, thats technically called recession. that's right, the GDP is ONLY a measure of what people and the govt spend it does subtract what we spend overseas from what we sell overseas....

the GDP drops and more people lose jobs, govt jobs go away, and those people don't have money to spend, the private sector cuts jobs on cue during a recession simply because they HAVE to expect reduced revenues.

we've been on this track since CLINTON and GINGRICH. the major turning point was repealing Glass-Stegall.

i've said it before, i'll say it again, Obama is no superman, he can't cure US, nobody can but ourselves.

the angry people have a right to be angry, BUT they are not armed with the truth.

the truth is? we have built a house of cards here over 4 decades now...

the Govt uses deficit spending to increase the GDP. GDP takes NO measure whatsoever of how much of the money spent is borrowed, and worse, so much of the money spent is simply in the margin , it's not colateralised... when the Govt borrows money? they do not put up collateral they go on a wink and a nod...

Obama got elected because alot of peoplw were angry already cash, now more people are angry cuz he got elected.

if the GOP had their way and bailed out no one? we would be in the greater depression.

i'm not speculating here. it's not a guess. the banks would have been run on, and htat would have been it.

sure people are angry they just lost half their retirement investment unless they went to cash or Gold last year. housing investments? just as bad....

people need to make sure they don't try to destroy Oabm or a liberal or conservative or ANYBODY just for spite, cuz we cannot afford to have the govt suddenly unable to do anything.

and WHO? is a conservative?

Bush didn't over promise? i voted for him in '00 he damn well did overpromise.
he promised money to religious organizations that never happened. he promised no nation building,
man, i cannot even begin to list the lies Bush and Cheney did.

they broke the law over an over again and NOBODY complained.

NObid contracts are an abomination of not only freemarketism but they are ILLEGAL.....

sorry man. i did not wake up one day and decide to change party, i stuck by Bush as long as i could, i am a practicing fiscal conservative, i may have some social attitudes that don't fit, but Bush was no fiscal conservative, ever.

Sick Heil: Racial Paranoia, White Victimology and the Hitlerizing of Obama

If you get a chance, today or perhaps tomorrow, do yourself a favor. Look up some file footage, perhaps on YouTube, of Adolf Hitler, addressing his followers. I know, it doesn't sound like the best way to spend your day, or even a few minutes of it, but trust me, there's a point to the recommendation. While you watch, notice the unhinged shouting, the wild eyes, the veins on his neck, the psychotic bodily gesticulations. Then, take a look at footage from yesterday's town hall meeting, called by President Obama in New Hampshire, in which he sought to lay out his case for health care reform to an audience that included supporters and opponents of his plan. Notice: no shouting, no wild eyes, no bulging jugular vein, no apparent sociopathy whatsoever. Indeed notice as the President actually seeks out questions from people who disagree with him, and then thanks them for making good points and raising legitimate concerns, even when the premises of their questions are dead wrong, and largely originated in crazy town.

Then ask yourself, is this the man that much of right-wing talk radio would have us believe is a Nazi? The political reincarnation of Hitler--ya know, the lunatic I asked you to watch first? Really? Really? Wow. Sometimes, it's hard to know where to begin.

On the one hand, the comparisons seem literally bat-**** insane. Especially when considering that at the same time folks are comparing Obama to the world's most infamous right-wing fascist, they are at the same time calling him a Marxist, and a left-wing radical. Oh sure, they try and say that Hitler was really a leftist, ya know, because the Nazis were National Socialists. Of course. And hot dogs are made from puppies.

Seriously, a good read...there's more--this is merely an excerpt.
