"The Business Roundtable report says Americans in 2006 spent $1,928 per capita on health care, at least two-and-a-half times more per person than any other advanced country."

"The United States is 23 points behind five leading economic competitors: Canada, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom and France. The five nations cover all their citizens, and though their systems differ, in each country the government plays a much larger role than in the U.S."

"The cost-benefit disparity is even wider — 46 points — when the U.S. is compared with emerging competitors: China, Brazil and India."

"But what this study shows is that the U.S. is not getting higher levels of health and quality of care."

If our health care system is so bad, I wonder why people from these other countries with socialized medicine come here for treatment?

No, but you will keep on believing that lie and you will keep on passing it around within your perfect circle of fools that have neither the knowledge nor the comprehension of facts to know better.

CCM. That is factored in the comparison. We are paying more than twice as much as anyone else for healthcare.

The argument has always been that it's ok because our healthcare is sooo much better.

It's not. And this report (among others) proves it.

Our system is based on first come, first served. Some people who want faster service will venture to the states for tests or procedures and are willing to pay cash for it. Rich or POOR, we all have access to excellent health care. Some just want it faster. Some experimental procedures are not allowed in Canada and people will go to the US, Switzerland, Germany and so on..

What's this I've heard about, it's something called rationing. A person that needs a procedure is rated by age and if the procedure is cost effective. Have you heard of this?

You are about as bright as a burnt out 10 watt light bulb and just about as useful

No not really. Age does play a part in the selection process but only to the point of best survival prospects during and post operation. Your lifestyle and fitness level plays a big part in how long you will live. People who look after them selves have a better chance of getting transplants when a donor organ becomes available compared to a patient that may have multiple issues and life expectancy of a few more years.

I found this on the net...

"At press time, MedSolution was in the process of sending 6 US patients to its partner hospitals in India and France for surgery, Knox said. About the same number of Canadian patients were undergoing medical assessments to qualify them for the service."

Seems like our system here in the states is about the same as far as refusing service to some.
When I lived in Canada I never once thought about going south for any sort of treatment.

hey Robot, do they have prescription commercials on TV in Canada?

people don't seem to realise that we pay for those dam things in our insurance...

beside the fact that i really don't care to hear about peoples plumbing problems during the news? it's pure theft...

we do not pay directly but we pay...
and the drug co's are spending more on advertising than they are on research.

it's one thing to advertise to doctors, but directly to pateints?

While traveling in the US I have been to three hospitals and a dentist and they all asked how I was going to pay before they asked where does it hurt.
Isn't the problem in the US the lack of good coverage for everyone?

A friend of mine in the Carolinas sold his house and two nice cars because his insurance wouldn't cover his daughter's medical bills. Moved to a bigger city and put the wife to work.

I don't know how I would handle starting over at 40 somethingish.

It's affording good coverage that is the problem.. not that it isn't available.
I pay $537 a month and have an upfront deductible I have to pay plus all kinds of limits on pretty much everything.
I remember paying nada when I was in Canada.
Of course the taxes were more... but not that much more.

it's 12000$ per year in the US for decent coverage.

Ya we have them too but not as often as we see the US commercials. I had had a few beers one night when one of your products came on TV and I swear I would rather have the disease than all the side effects. I laughed so hard....and yes I spilled my beer.

They are getting at the heart of the target market and that's just wrong. I think it's like candy to a baby the way they go after sick. Makes people think the solution is in that pill and you better go get some before it's gone. Think of how much they spend on consultants to come up with the language to put into those commercials.
Yes it is theft.

Isn't spilling beer a sin in Canada?

Robot - posted
That is a lot of money to have to decide on spending on stuff that may or may not happen to you.

That's out of reach for a lot of people. Glad I don't have to think about it. One small thing we need is like a $10.00 user fee for a trip to the hospital. This would cut down on the people who go in for colds or the flu instead of going to their Doctor's office.

Yes spilling beer is a sin but I have a few extra hidden just in case.

Typing slow here. I am still working the phone and the computer looking for work and workers.

Are you perhaps referring to Octomom? You do realize she is an embodiment of the pro-life philosophy right?
