WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A new U.S. intelligence report says Iran halted its nuclear weapons program in 2003 and it remains on hold, contradicting the Bush administration's earlier assertion that Tehran was intent on developing a bomb.

Nope, the White House sent a puppet into the Rose Garden yesterday afternoon to claim the report "confirmed" what they have been claiming and last night on the talk/news programs on cable they had several stooges claiming that the report only speaks to "non-covert" Iranian efforts to build a bomb and "covertly" their bomb program was thriving.
These guys are really deep into abject fraud and lies.
One week they say the intelligence agencies are telling them there is an Iranian bomb program and the next week, after the intelligence programs all report that they know of no such Iranian effort, they claim there is one hidden from out intelligence programs.
Either way, the report says they have been lying again.

no, let's not bomb them. let's try to open realistic diplomatic relations based on honesty from both sides.
honesty like: we (US) know you (Iran) want to become more powerful and influential, and you know we need your oil so we can meet our financial obligations since we are so deep in debt..
listening to Bush say right now the most disappointing thing in Wash. has been the name-calling.. what a hypocrite.

the sick part in all this is that Bush wants to "prosecute" intent.
i have nodoubt that Iran intends to become a "first world nuclear power".
and i don't mean Ahmadinejad.. (Bush doesn't even know the guys name, he keeps saying "Ahmajinedad")
it's becoming increasingly clear that Bush thinks he is the big brother thought police.
what has top happen is that we need to redefine what being a first world nation means (again)...

Maybe not what one is, but what the responsibilities, rights, and privileges of a first world nation is.
If left up to me, no nation that attempts to undermine or dictate the religious beliefs of another people (or even their own or a part of them) would be allowed to claim to be first class and any nation, this one included, that tried to impose any specified mode of government on another would be 100% boycotted by the entire membership of the United Nations.

one of the most overlooked issues (so far) about this report is that the Intelligence community has stood up to Bush and Cheney.
i have yet to hear anybody comment on that. the civil servants that do all the real work are flexing their muscles here... maybe Bush shoulda fired anybody involved in outing Valerie Plame if he wanted the intel to be "his"...

good point. i think that points directly to the political challenges facing US today.
Dubya ran on the platform of being a consensus builder in 'OO. That sounded good. Somehow it didn't work out.
9-11 could have brought the world together. Somehow that opportunity got missed.

Terror may be used against individuals, groups, races, or even animals. It is used against governments as a means of altering political decisions. It's mechanism is obvious, you create fear in the population and they, out of fear, demand that their government accede to the alterations you wish to bring about.
Dubya and the neo-cons are right. We are under serious and immanant danger from terrorist.
It comes via the tactics of governing by fear (and by lies used to create fear) by the republican machine, with the White House as the major point of emanation.
The biggest terrorist in all the world today and for the last few years, particularly for the United States, but for the entire world, is BUSH!
Out of fear, we permitted mad men to invade Iraq.
Out of fear we leaned on Congress to pass statutes requested by the Administration that violate and make mockery of the Constitution's protction of freedom and democracy.
Out of fear we allowed our military and the CIA and other intelligence groups torture in our name.
Out of fear we allowed an obviously faulty Administration to regain the White House.
It is time to put these terrorist, along with their entire program of lies and propaganda, out!

the intel was NOT wrong before (on Iraq) the fact is that Bush and Cheney manipulated the intelligence.
many parts of the Intel Community protested that they knew better and that Bush and cheney were not portraying a true interpretation of the intel, and that is why the Plame affair happened and Libby got convicted, and Bush pardoned him.
