So you agree that it isn't up to you to decide who can post. That's good. But you miss the point. It isn't a question of being invited to post on a thread. Posting is the right of the individual, without invitation. The question is not whether or not you must be invited to post and join a conversation. You may. What is questioned is that using that privilege to post in order to participate in insults and name calling is out of place. The question's concern is if posting in a thread not to participate in the conversation, but to enter the thread to post insults, for name calling, for personal attacks, and to spread lies isn't inappropriate. You are certainly not expected to have no personal opinions, but when those personal opinions are, or are so stated as to amount to, an assault on the character or rights of another to have a personal opinion, then common decorum says you have forced them into a decision of either accepting that they cannot post here or to responding in kind. It's an invitation to a so called "flame war" and an entirely inappropriate abuse of the right to post (in case you never thought about it, though no doubt you have). When freedom of expression is misconstrued to allow oppression of another's freedom to express via personal or character attack rather than balanced and respectful disagreement, it ceases to be discussion. It becomes is an attack and an invitation to retaliate, which clearly infringes on the rights of others and leads to anything but free thinking. [/QB][/QUOTE]
