A golfer in Minnesota?
Man I thought everybody up there spent there summers fishing. I get up to the fairbult area a few times a year and try my hand at catching some walleye, with mixed results.

Lake of the woods has too much fishing pressure. Try Rainy. Same beautiful type of lake loaded with islands and bays but half the pressure of Woods. Absolutely incredible smallmouth fishery that not too many know about. Within 5 miles of the launch at Fort Francis Canada it's almost like fishing untouched waters for bass, northern and walleye.

trolling and casting the points, reefs, and bays with an all-purpose rapalla was my best luck at lake-of--the-woods-....caught put-near everything with that approach....

Rapalla Husky Jerk or the new X-Rap are deadly. I've never fished LooW or Rainy from the Minesota side, always just over the border and yes, I've got lost many times, thank God for GPS. Technology is great when I can tell a piece of equipment that I started "here" and 6 hours later I'm "here" and the thing can route me back, well, that's just amazing.
