Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!
Has anyone tried to brine a turkey before????
I decided (against my better judgement) to let my hubby try to brine my 21lb bird, luckily it will be only the kids and us this year...I'll let ya all know how it turns out.

Careful ya don't burn the house down if ya deep fry it!

lol..tried deep frying several times (against my better judgement) 1 out of 6 was edible, either undercooked or overcooked, but luckily no house fires! This brinned turkey will be cooked in the oven.

we had two (reported) house fires from turkey friers in the greater Memphis viewing area....

i use my trukey frier to "preheat" chunks of colored glass.... i just set a peice of 3/8ths stainlees steel plate on it instead of the pot, and set the glass on top of the stainless plate to preheat it... and yes, it gets hot enough to melt the glass if i'm not paying attention and leave it on too long.....

Brining the turkey should be fine. My family has always done that with wild game. My guess is you won't notice much of a difference. It doesn't ad a lot of salt to the meat but does draw a lot of the blood out of it.

Wow!!! The turkey turned out great, a little salty but that's ok because my hubby said that he thought he added a little too much salt to the brine mixture, other than than that it was very juicy and tender. I will definately let him try this again.
