I think she deserved more jail time! Others, like the Enron execs (Lay, etc.) deserve much more.

i dunno wallace, she din't get convicted of insider trading all she did was lie to the feds....everybody doe it...LOL

the Enron boys should have ALL of their assets STRIPPED and paid to the employees pensions IMO......

i'm having more and more trouble trying to understand how Bush can continue to claim he has done a good job with Iraq.

the only person who voted to go to war in Iraq was Bush. he was granted the authority to make the decision by congress...

i have a serious problem believing what he says anymore....

i would be a lot more comfortable with the situation if he had come out before the Rep Conv and said, things are bad, we've made some mistakes, but we are addressing them....
this theory that admitting mistakes is a sign of weakness and invites more attacks is foolishness. it does seem to garner votes which is even more scary.reminds of the emperors new clothes....
the "fairy tales" have survived thru the millenia because they hold wisdom......

I know this is a Martha thread, but since Glass brought up Iraq, I do find the situation we are in there quite discomforting. We lose face if we stay and we lose face if we leave. Now, more problems are developing in Afganistan. Both N.Korea and Iran seem to be pushing buttons in the wrong direction and now, Russia is in the middle of serious terrorist problems.

What the hell has happened to the world in the past 5 to 10 years? Is it my imagination, or are we going backward as human beings?

no Wallace, i don't think we are any worse or better fundamantally
we have entered into the information age.....
the basic problem as i see it is that we are no more honest or realistic than we ever were....
the new tools are being used for lying and cheating just as much as the old tools....
there is just more opportunity...LOL

can you imagine having to vote for or against Lincoln pre-civil war??? what would you have used to make your decision?

Good point, Glass. I can't even imagine how people found where to vote, let alone get there. Of course, women did not have the right to vote so that might have solved some of the problems getting there. LOL

excellent point Wallace, we are making progress, slowly and painfully. our democracy has slowly grown to encompass all of our citizens. i hope that we/the world are just experiencing one of those "retracements" that are always going to occur. i ASSUME that a lot of people are more than a little annoyed with me for the political posting that i have been doing. esp the efforts i have spent to expose the truth AS I SEE IT. i hope that my efforts result in PRODDING more than few of you to go VOTE that's the only way our system can really work. i can't believe that after the last election, i am still hearing people say they aren't going to vote cuz it's hopeless......
ultimately our troops are fighting for soemones right to vote...
even if the people they are fighting for DON'T DESERVE IT, if YOU don't go vote for somebody you are not supporting our troops

Point taken. I know I said that I might vote for Congressmen and Senators and not vote for Pres, but I just cannot see either one in the White House. If I write in a vote, at least I will be making some kind of statement. I guess?????? You are right, people must vote, even if it's a write in.

Would you believe I got elected to a political position in the boonies of PA as a result of a write in vote. Went to one meeting and raised hell with the local party leader for being in a position of having conflicts of interest. Sound familiar? LOL
Got voted down with another ruckus. Took it to the newspaper (only one in the county) and within 6 mos. the conflicts were terminated and, then, everyone said I was right.

that doesn't surprise me....i've seen a lot of that in local politics....

Having lived in Nebraska, I figure you may have known of David Tews. He was a State Senator there. My wife and I have known him and his wife, Lynda for years. Been in touch with Lynda lately but not David. They got a divorce. What have you heard about him. I suppose you know he is tight with the Bush family.

no wallace, NE was only a short stop on my adventure.....
the only local politics i followed closely there were University of Neb politics and they spent more time and money trying to figure out how to win a footbal game than they did on anything else...they deserve to have two or three losing seasons in a row now IMO...
