The aim is to nominate 5 stocks that will ALL show gains of a minimum of 30% by Friday the 20th of December 2013 so start looking into your Crystal Ball and come out with the 5 winners.

THE BASIS OF THE COMPETITION:
The competition is partly intended for light entertainment. But it is also hoped it will throw up ideas for further research, and possibly investment: ideally, stocks with real potential to make good steady gains, with low downside risk.

It is permissible to nominate stocks that have already been selected by others. However, please try to avoid having a the same if possible.

The last date for nominations before open of the markets on Monday 7th January 2013.
You can post any time from now on but not later then Monday 7th of January before the bell remember the price posted will be posted from the close on Dec 31st 2012.

Analysis is welcome to explain why your picks may perform as you expect.

Good idea Boo...There are certainly some great stock pickers registered on this site...Hopefully some of them pop in and participate...

Long:
IPXL...Profitable, cash rich bio...PDUFA for their first branded drug (IPX066) on 1/21/2013...

IRBT...Classic over reaction to guidance and cliff worries...Lots of cash (over 30% of current m/c) and beautiful balance sheet...takeover target IMO.

DMND...Loaded with shorts, all the nonsense is priced in...Will bounce hard with any positive news...

Short:
CRM...I think Oracle will start taking market share and cut into their "Non-GAAP" [Roll Eyes] earnings...Hopefully I'm wrong cuz this pig is by far my favorite stock to trade lol

AZO...Sales are shrinking but share buybacks are propping up eps...When the buybacks cease this gets flushed...

Thanks HV, I'd like to see some of the Allstock's Vets come out of the off topic section and make some picks. We'll see.

I have a couple bio's that have some events coming this year that I'm betting on as well as a couple others. My picks are all under $5.

Posted by BooDog on :

Long AVL 1.36 Avalon Rare Metals Inc. (AVL) Still some financial issues with this one so may be a struggle. 124,189,402 shares out in Oct.

Short VVTV 1.80 ValueVision Media Inc. (VVTV I was actually tempted to go long on this one. A shift in management and the resignation of director Patrick O. Kocsi changed my mind. Still, a fairly low float so could make for a couple decent flips. If they can manage to stay afloat it could work out for longs.

Long CTIX 1.83 Cellceutix Corporation (CTIX)
-OTC BB This is my story stock. With a couple compounds showing some unique potential this year could be very interesting for them.

Long STEM 1.63 StemCells Inc. (STEM)
-NasdaqCM I know they seem to always cut themselves short with their financing deals and once again this could be their downfall. Could see a nice dip because of this as well. Still putting this one on my list though since a couple of their compunds should be proven this year.

Long ACAD 4.65 ACADIA Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ACAD)
-NasdaqGM Another bio that I think has some decent potential. Going into PHIII and expanding their pipeline. I am especially interested in thier potential for Parkinson's Disease psychosis and schizophrenia. We'll see how it works out.
