Severe Weather Outlook

In the Atlantic Ocean, there are a couple of disturbances that could develop further over the next couple of days.

One is a low pressure center located about 215 miles NW of Bermuda and moving toward the NNE at about 15 mph. The system could become a tropical or subtropical cyclone over the next day or two before Interacting with a front. Look for showers and some higher surf around bermuda overnight.

A broad area of low pressure is located about 850 miles east of the southern Windward Islands in the Atlantic. This system appears fairly well organized and could develop further over the next 48 hours. Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunters are on standby to investigate the disturbance on Wednesday as it nears the southern Windwards.

In the eastern Pacific, a small disturbance about 950 miles SW of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, still bears watching as it churns toward the NW at 10 to 15 mph.

In the western Pacific, Typhoon Usagi (100 mph) will likely strengthen further as it turns toward southern Japan. Projected arrival time there is early Thursday (U. S. time). Usagi is currently well NNW of Guam and moving toward the NNW or NW at about 7 mph.

Severe Weather Outlook

In the Atlantic Basin, two areas continue to be monitored; one near the Windward Islands, the other in the Northern Gulf of Mexico.

Just west of the Windward Islands, a tropical wave was triggering increased thunderstorms this morning, as it continues to move off toward the west.

While this area is not climatologically favorable for tropical development, if thunderstorms continue to flare, an area of low pressure could form. Another Hurricane Hunter aircraft is schedule for a possible flight into this area this afternoon.

Over the northern Gulf of Mexico, a cold front has left behind a trough of low pressure, which continues to be the focus for thunderstorms this morning. A broad area of low pressure is currently in place, and may begin to get better organized today.

A Hurricane Hunter aircraft is also scheduled for a possible flight into this area, if conditions warrant later today.

Regardless if this system develops tropical characterizes, increased thunderstorms will impact northern Florida, and parts of the Southeast into Friday.

In the eastern Pacific
