this one is about to take off again! 95 mill OS and 200 mill AS with patents pending on new adult stem cell technique!!

look for a major bounce for CLBE,the 10-Q next month should be the best they ever had and rumor has it the microbank has opened so a PR should be hitting anytime! Could run into the low teens again!

This is from the last shareholder release;
However, the study shows CalbaTech had the second lowest market capitalization. "We believe this means that CalbaTech has tremendous stock upside potential. If our revenues and profits begin to reach pro-forma projections, particularly with LifeStem's Stem Cell MicroBank(TM) Service to open this month, the stock price should respond accordingly," wrote James DeOlden, CEO. The entire letter follows:

Hit .04 but watch it close, look for an EOD rally because many feel good about this week and may close near .08's imo. This runs to the teens fast so get ready.

there are 3 CLBE thread right now, which one are we using?

Posted by T e x on :

that's the problem with tieing thread titles to one-time events...

Posted by QuestSolver on :

I just wish we could edit titles on Allstocks...

either way CLBE I believe is heading back into the double digits again and may end up staying there this time.I think some SCLL investors have started moving into this because of the last SCLL DEF14 filing and CLBE is a far better investment imo.

THIS MONTH is only 2 days left and I hope they don't PR anything on Friday unless its before open and any statement like this has to be given some serious consideration as to the true value of the management of this company......

First Quarter 2006 Financial Results/Stock Performance

The first quarter of this year is reflective of our belief in the CalbaTech model, as well as the actions we have taken over the past year. KD Medical, Molecula, and another of our other wholly-owned subsidiaries, Molecularware, Inc., all were profitable and as a whole experienced a 25% growth in revenue. LifeStem is primed for success as the pricing and cost structure of the Stem Cell Microbank(TM) Service will be profitable from each collection.
Recently, an industry source published information regarding each of the public companies competing in the stem cell arena. Of the sixteen companies listed, CalbaTech was listed third in EBITDA (Earnings Before Income Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization), and first in average daily trading volume, yet had the second lowest market capitalization. We believe this means that CalbaTech has tremendous stock upside potential. If our revenues and profits begin to reach our pro-forma projections, particularly with LifeStem's Stem Cell MicroBank(TM) Service set to open in June, the price of our stock should respond accordingly.

We have put the building blocks in place and have begun building a truly successful company. We are pleased that you have chosen to invest in CalbaTech. Thank you for the trust and continued support.

Sincerely,

MMs have the ability to run it
without PR, if they get enough
cheap shares. Last run was done
without a pr. They used to PR to
trap investors. It happened five
times in the last two months.
See the chart, and you will find
out a pr is not a good time to get in.

I disagree Jim.....a PR on the opening of the microbankl (that will already open in the profits) will confirm the clear direction of the company and read the share holders letter on the 13th. Check out the site for CLBE...

I think in all seriousness that the next break out for CLBE will eventually send us into the .20's and thats nots just a guess,I base it on the company and the history and whats coming up for them and the industry altogether....this is a big deal in the works and if anyone here is invested in STEM or SCLL you may want to invest a lot more here, just look at the other stocks and compare what they have and take a serious look at just exactly whay CLBE has.

Great chart for bottom bounce.

I hope it will have 2-week run,
slow but steady. The new SEC
rule will make MMs' manipulation
more difficult. So they will maximize
their profit by pushing pps higher. I
still expect a 5X in 6 weeks.

yes I think .05's will come quick now

stocks here an opinion from a pro chartist I deal with.

OK breakout nowwwwwwww.........I jumped on bid took out the .044s!!!! Arca orders filling book box now..... NO big sellers to .08 we will see short opposition around .055 and a squeeze past .06!!!

I am more conservative and see a slight retrace around mid .05's but I also see this eventually heading to the .20's in the near future...believe me its overdue.

Posted by stocks1984 on :

just by looking at the chart, it has been on a steadily decline and when it attempts to break out off the top bollinger band it bounces and heads back down. thats my only worry. but i might buy here if i strongly feel we could see double from these levels

All otc stock trading is a form of gamble.
The chance of getting 5X in 6 weeks, if
you take a position now for:

a. CLBE: 75% (0.04 5X will be 0.20)
b. XKEM: 2% (0.062 5X will be 0.31)

So, this is my gamble. You have to play
yours. Just play on paper and see who is
right or closer in 6 weeks. I agree with
Quest on this one.

This is a gamble. If you worry too much,
I suggest that you put your money in a
bank. This stock is controlled by the MMs,
and now they have tons of cheap shares,
they just want to raise the pps to unload
their inventory. Just watch it for 6 weeks,

Good morning all,I will be away from the computer for most of the day but hopefully be back long before close!!

I like how they lined up each division to compliment each other!

Research Reagents Division

In 2003, we acquired Molecula, LLC, a company in Sterling, Virginia, that sold transfection products. In 2004, we acquired KD Medical, a company in Columbia, Maryland, that supplied research products to more than 300 National Institute of Health (NIH) laboratories, as well as most of the major pharmaceutical companies. While both were generating revenue when acquired, neither was profitable. In the past year, we have worked diligently to make the Research Reagents Division the profitable base we intended.

The first step was to incorporate a new Molecula, Inc. in Nevada, and then combine the operations of Molecula and KD Medical into one facility to more efficiently capitalize on their synergistic operations. Next, marketing efforts were coordinated to take advantage of common markets. Finally, redundancies in the management teams of the two companies were eliminated. The result is that the Research Reagents Division reported a net profit for 2005 and again in the first quarter of 2006. Furthermore, this Division is reporting a 25% growth in revenue for the quarter ended March 31, 2006, as compared to the same period in 2005.

The next move is, literally, a move, into a new location. This Division will be moving into a new facility with two validated Class 100 clean rooms and a complete quality control laboratory that will be used to grow revenues in two different ways. One clean room will be used to increase the manufacturing capabilities of the KD Medical product offerings, so as to manufacture a higher quality of product, and to expand the current custom product offerings to the NIH as well as major universities and pharmaceutical companies. The second clean room will be utilized for other potential growth in revenue by allowing the Division to perform contract research for the many pharmaceutical companies located in this region.

Finally, the Research Reagents Division should also experience growth and greater profitability due to a recent understanding with a large media company to produce some of KD's routine media products. This is intended to allow KD to more aggressively sell these routine products, with greater profitability due to a decrease in redundant labor, and to enter markets that were previously unavailable due to cost competitiveness. This should result in an increase in revenues and allow KD to focus more attention to manufacturing custom products.

In summary, we believe that the Research Reagents Division has become a steady, growing, profitable foundation upon which we can build a greater return for our shareholders.

heres a recap of the S/H letter....any CEO that can boldly make statements like this must KNOW FOR SURE where Calbatech is heading.

the study shows CalbaTech had the second lowest market capitalization.

Dear Fellow Shareholder:

We at CalbaTech, Inc. thank you for your investment in our Company. The goals at CalbaTech are two-fold: To acquire revenue generating Life Science "tools" companies, that provide products and platforms to researchers, forming a profitable base by which to provide the Company with cash flow and allow it to seek higher reward projects; and to develop those higher reward projects that will provide the opportunity for a greater upside to our shareholders. We believe we are well on our way to accomplishing both of these goals.

Sincerely,

James DeOlden

Cellular Therapies Division - LifeStem

In 2004, we purchased I-Stem from Dr. Jason R. Van Tassell, M.D. I-Stem owned the intellectual property to the Stem Cell Delivery Device, an endoscopic device capable of delivering adult stem cells directly to infarcted cardiac tissue. Dr. Van Tassel created the concept after hearing about an Illinois teenager who became a cardiac cripple after being shot in the heart by a nail gun. The teenager had adult stem cells injected into his blood stream resulting in cardiac tissue regeneration. While the teenager does not have completely normal cardiac function, the results were significant, allowing him functionality. Dr. Van Tassel reasoned that if stem cells injected into peripheral blood could cause significant cardiac tissue regeneration, then cells injected directly into the cardiac tissue would have even greater efficacy.

Subsequently the Company formed LifeStem, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary, to further I-Stem as well as to enter the new emerging field of banking adult stem cells for autologous use. This was determined after canvassing current stem cell banking services and realizing that there was a tremendous void to be filled, as the market had competitors at opposite poles. There are several companies collecting umbilical cord blood from newborns, which contain fertile stem cells, and there are other companies that are collecting autologous stem cells from adults in extremely inconvenient, invasive, costly, and time consuming ways. The former only helps those of the generation being born today whose parents have the foresight to take advantage of storing cord blood, and the latter does not provide non-invasive and convenient collection and storage of adult stem cells at a reasonable price.

We also determined that there were not any companies offering to collect adult stem cells from more than one tissue source. Some stem cells are more likely to develop into blood cells and similarly related tissues, while others are more likely to develop into bone, cartilage or muscle tissue. We therefore developed the process of harvesting stem cells in micro quantities to be cryopreserved for future transplantation into the client. We filed a patent application for our Stem Cell MicroBank(TM) Service, which is promulgated on the belief that it is unnecessary to collect an amount of stem cells sufficient to fully reconstitute one's entire immune system at the time of collection. LifeStem's Adult Stem Cell MicroBank(TM) is the only company to offer "micro" collections of stem cells from two different tissue sources thereby offering greater potential for treatments for multiple diseased conditions.

To a large degree, we believe that the adult stem cell collection and storage market mirrors the cosmetic surgery market, with its emphasis on proactive and preventative healthcare. People likely to have cosmetic surgery are concerned about quality of and longevity of life, they are health conscious, college-educated, and tend to seek non-traditional medical services. To this end, in December 2005, we signed a distribution agreement with Solana MedSpas, a developer and syndicator of medical spas, with 25 medspas currently open and operating and plans for more than 50 additional locations to open during 2006. In accordance with this agreement, adult stem cell collections will be performed at medspa locations using our Stem Cell Microbank(TM) Service. We are also working to contract with physician's offices to carry our Stem Cell MicroBank(TM) Service and believe that cosmetic surgeons, cardiologists, and orthopedists will be excellent distribution sites. With these agreements, we believe we will be ready to make an explosive entry into this marketplace as we perform the first collections in June.

Don't get your panties in a bunch boys, this will be sitting at .045 range at close. Next week should be nice. Hold for at least another 2-3 trading days.

No panties, I go commando.

The bid keeps tightening up then goes back to .043....this baby would move if it was hit at the ask

Today, it might hit 5 cents, next week, who knows with the rumored news and all.

Posted by QuestSolver on :

my last target was .10 to .12 and it fortunately broke .14, I think in the short to mid term this should eventually hit .20's and I expect this to break near .50 by end of year if all goes as the company has projected....the next quarterly will be the best the company has ever had imo.

Posted by QuestSolver on :

fine tuning the PPS right now!! this is ready for a little pop soon!

Posted by QuestSolver on :

going for .05's now!

Posted by stocktrader22 on :

won't get near .05 today, an hour left and it's slow. Close at .045

Posted by QuestSolver on :

LOL....I seen this move almost .02 in 20 minutes, now we have 53 minutes to move 3.100ths of a penny.......LOL..we'll see.

Mark my words!

Posted by QuestSolver on :

we should be seeing a little retrace anytime now but bid support may be stronger then I think, the last 15 minutes is the key time for CLBE

Posted by stocktrader22 on :

Oh now look how quickly you changed your tone...back to .045 like I thought it would. There are no buyers right now. We'll start a move on Wednesday.

Posted by QuestSolver on :

what? I didn't change anything....between 3:20 and 3:40 is where CLBE usually takes a dip.

Posted by stocktrader22 on :

There is no buying.....like I said nothing really going on today, just more accumulation. It will start moving on WED

Posted by djg7 on :

.047 x .048 will move with buyers.

Wow...now its starting to move...my mistake...good call questsolver..ill let the master talk from now on

I think it started to get away from them, so they increased the spread.

hey, nothing wrong with green everyday... this slowly goes higher day by day.. im all for it... [Smile]

Posted by stocktrader22 on :

Yea, any type of run was stopped by the bid being pushed back!

Posted by djg7 on :

Agreed. MMs create big spread and this comes to a screaching halt. We're still green.

Posted by QuestSolver on :

they are looking to fill orders it seems, routing from everywhere! very very nice

Posted by stocktrader22 on :

I'm guessing they want to hold it back till Monday and let it explode with more time left then 13 minutes.

Posted by Squire38 on :

Personally I would like to close at 5, or more. It would put us at 13.6% for the day, but we would be in the 5s.

Posted by QuestSolver on :

we should see a decent rally early next week....gapper Monday imo.

Posted by stocktrader22 on :

Can we get to .06 next week? Let's see what the news tells us

Posted by Squire38 on :

It did go up 10 cents in 5 days last January.

Posted by QuestSolver on :

if this breaks 4 mill and .05's its going to be insane week next week.
.06 is a very low target my friend, this is an easy double digit play if your playing short term.

Posted by stocktrader22 on :

Can't hit .05 with this spread, no!!!

Posted by QuestSolver on :

squire...it hit .14 from .022

Posted by djg7 on :

Sounds good to me. I'll just hold and maybe do a lot of golfing next week. It seems everytime I go golfing during the day I come back my screen is green.

Posted by QuestSolver on :

yeah right....look at the 4 mill!

Posted by Squire38 on :

I should restate my post, I rode it up 10 cents in 5 days last January.

Ok, next time you play to golf, give me a days notice to buy posistions in everything you are in. Shoot, I'll even pay your green fees.

Spread narrowed EOD. We can't complain about this day. Nice slow steady climb. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Squire, I was green only three times in the last seven days (except today) and those were the days I golfed. If you ever get up north I'll pay for your green fees.

This looks like a good one. It's about time because it was been a tough month. Let's hope for a very green July. Thanks everybody!

This thing is going to RUN huge next week. If you are not in it now, you are still okay, monday you can get in before the spike that day. Look at how steadily the price increases, instead of a pump and dump that goes up 100% and an hour later is down 20% from opening price. There has been a lot of accumulation going on, and the MM's have been holding this back IMO. Couple this with some good news about their stemcell microbank opening, and this is a winner!

Posted by QuestSolver on :

The largest problem that most stem cell stocks and companies have had has been the ethical issues that are involved....thats all removed when it comes to Calbatech-CLBE thats 100% focused on adult stem cell extractions only and so now the walls no longer exist.CLBE as many already know is not you typical penny stock,I feel as good about this one as I have about buying all the BIPH I could from .09 to .25 back in the day......there are very few med sector penny stocks that stand out above the rest and we are in one of them here.

Vatican and Stem Cells
Friday, June 30, 2006
The clash between scientists and moralists that Jordan highlights below is displayed also in reaction to the recent comments by Cardinal Alfonso Trujillo of the Pontifical Council for the Family concerning excommunication of those involved in embryonic stem cell research.

The comments are reported here, and scientists’ reactions here.

Meanwhile, the Church wholeheartedly supports the use of adult stem cells (which has already proven effective), as indicated by this story about a Missouri priest.

Posted by djg7 on :

Good post Quest. There are already some who support embryonic stem cell research. However, there is also a large group of people opposing this research.

CLBE is prforming adult stem cell research which increases public support from many opposing embryonic research. There will be fewer road blocks for this type of treatment. This looks like a winning situation. Support from the Roman Catholic Church is also huge.

Embryonic Stem Cell Research ‘Far Behind’ Adult, Says Ethics Group

By Michelle Vu
A recently revived bill expanding the funding for embryonic stem cell research is opposed by a research ethics coalition that calls instead for greater funding of adult stem cell research, which it says has shown greater results than its counterpart.

“We oppose that bill for two reasons – number one: we believe this is unethical research; this is using human life as a means to someone else’s end,” said Gene Tarne, communications director for DoNoHarm: The Coalition of Americans for Research Ethics. “It is ‘commodifying’ human life by necessarily entailing the destruction of living human embryos.”

On Thursday, a bill that would expand funding for embryonic stem cell research was pushed forward after being stalled in the Senate since the House passed it in May 2005.

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, urged by Nancy Reagan, “untangled” objections to the bill and moved it closer to being passed, according to The Associated Press.

The bill allows for the government to fund human embryonic stem cell research.

Tarne explained his opposition to the bill by highlighting that there are no cures yet for embryo stem cell research and no benefit yet shown in human patients.

“There are no cures,” the Research Ethics Coalition spokesperson said Friday. “You are sacrificing the embryos on purely speculative research.”

“Their success in the lab has been very, very limited.”

Tarne pointed out that while there was media frenzy over the John Hopkins University’s report on the successful use of embryonic stem cells to repair damage spinal cord in rats last week, DoNoHarm and Sen. Brownback (R- Kan.) had hosted a press conference and reception last week that featured human patients who have received a therapeutic benefit from either adult or cord blood stem cells.

Among the patients was a woman who had received an adult stem cell treatment for her spinal injury who has, as a result, regained some sensation and feeling and was able to walk with the assistance of braces.

“Meanwhile on the embryonic stem cell side we have people still in the lab still trying to do work with rats,” compared Tarne. “This was probably a great advancement for embryonic stem cell, but in my opinion it shows how far behind they are that they wouldn’t even dare try this in a human patient when we are already trying to treat spinal cord injures in human patients using adult stem cells.”

Tarne concluded, “The practical objection is that there is only so much research dollars available from the federal government so we want to spend those dollars in the best possible way and the most promising avenue of research. If we go ahead and pass this bill it would just take more money away from the adult stem cell research, which has already helped people and put in its place this highly speculative path that after 25 years of working on animal model still has not had a successful animal model of treatment that they can transfer to a clinical trial for a human patient.”

for all you chartist out there that doesn't understand what a double bottom is and are looking at the CLBE chart.

http://www.investopedia.com/terms/d/doublebottom.asp

by Darwin

Double bottoms form after extended and aggressive short selling drives the pps down over several weeks/months...but the long term investors know that is a great time to buy up cheap shares and are savy enough to buy in the red and continue to develop large holdings in a stock ( read past thread and you can see those who did just this..nice job to those traders!). it is the sentiment of these longs that stop the bleeding and stabalize the stock from falling any further.

the first bottom is formed when short sellers realize the bottom has been reached and now want to cover their shorts and buy up new shares to realize profits..new investor sentiment catches on with other traders who may have bought at a higher pps and they too begin buying.

after several days the reaction high is hit but volume and buying pressure fades, shorts see this and jump back in driving the stock pps down while many of the bulls sell to take profits. on very light volume the second bottom has now been formed..sometimes it will fall through the previous bottom but not always.

it is at this point when a huge short covering begins ( which is anticipated on this thread) You see the second leg down never falls like many believed it would and selling pressure fades...the shorts get very nervous and begin buying to cover thier shorts and a new group of bullish speculators begin buying and taking long postions (eg. many on this thread of late!!) and a reall rally begins. continued...........................

Posted by QuestSolver on :

it is this point when short covering becomes a frantic pace and buying pressured is massive. ( many on this thread are anticipating just this)

to be valid a double bottom must:

-volume increases as stock moves toward the first and second bottom, usually volume will be greatest at first bottom because the savy investors are accumulating like mad.

- reaction high must be penetrated

- after reaction high has been penetrated pps tests breakout level (new support) and it cannot go below support or double bottom is invalid

clbe has done all of these..and now we have our trump card which is microbank news on the very near horizon..this is to be one of clbe's most profitable divisions.

hope this helps..insight is appreciated. GLTA!!!!

This is the stock that everyone should be talking about over this weekend...look for .08-.12 short term.

Posted by Squire38 on :

I'm guessing tomorrow it should climb up to 6 - 6.5 cents on rumored good news. Come Wednesday it should climb again, then begin to run after PR (maybe a slight retrace after PR so MMs can shake out a few shares).

Everything stated is my own opinion.

Posted by QuestSolver on :

although the market closes at 1:00 tomorrow I think we can expect a high amount of volume, many now see this is a major investment and is now about to go well into another trading arena soon.Major news after the fourth has been confirmed multiple times.

Posted by stocktrader22 on :

Only problem I see here is that RSI is almost at oversold levels

I've noticed that NOV/APR is always an up time for STEM CELL stocks. So coming from that - Now would be buy time. It also seems that time is closing in on an diverse and wide open research, but they are making good progress and being more widely accepted, with more testimonials.

Posted by QuestSolver on :

AJ...now is definitely the time to buy and hold on for major things about to happen not only for CLBE but for stem cell usage now that all ethical issues are removed.

BTW Good morning all.....

the upcoming news can contain several differant subjects but I think the main content will be the opening of the Microbank which should already open in the profits. The last share holder letter announces the June opening. The company has been fairly tight lipped concerning other questions but the last quarterly shows the rev direction clearly so we may get positive direction for profits and revs in the PR also. There are some nice lines directly from the CEO which I like,"We believe this means that CalbaTech has tremendous stock upside potential. If our revenues and profits begin to reach pro-forma projections, particularly with LifeStem's Stem Cell MicroBank(TM) Service to open this month, the stock price should respond accordingly," and also "KD Medical, Molecula, and another of our other wholly-owned subsidiaries, Molecularware, Inc., all were profitable and as a whole experienced a 25% growth in revenue" and "Stem Cell Microbank(TM) Service will be profitable from each collection" and even this "the price of our stock should respond accordingly"....these statements take a lot for a CEO to put into a share holder letter and no one in a leading management position could me more clearer then this.

B/A at .049 and a short step to .055

Posted by djg7 on :

Let's break through .05. L2s look good after that.

Posted by QuestSolver on :

todays trading will be unpredictable due to the short day so we may get dips early or not at all but anyway I think this closes above .055

Posted by Squire38 on :

.049 x .049, pretty tight spread if you ask me. [Smile]

Posted by djg7 on :

Volume may also be down. There is too much going on today. Many have Monday off to celebrate the 4th.

Posted by Squire38 on :

Looking at the L2, it seems we might stall out at .055 today, pretty big wall there. I think once we get to 55 there will be 9 MMs hanging out. But that would be another 10% green.

guys, 800k volume in 10 minutes.. awsome !

for those who think a sell off is coming near a dime be careful, the re-entry will not be easy and the market needs the shares. This should be seeing the .20's in the very VERY near term.

Now, you got to believe the MMs'
ability to pump, even without a pr,
after they have collected the majority
of the shares. Just hold your shares tight,
and don't worry about the shakes and swings.
I will just watch how they play the game.

yes once we break .07 we'll a have a smooth ride up until atleast .08

I look at it like this....everyone thought real resistance was at .055 and hoped we hit it......well now look......I am more then pleased at the PPS right now and was hoping for a close anywhere in the .05's but the closer we get to the end of trading today the more I think we may close near .08

Questsolver, you ripped this right from **************...you didn't receive that email. Not to mention, Knopick would be thrown in jail if this was true. The original poster can get in very big trouble for false things like this.

I urge you to confirm this yourself, you will get a fast and prompt response. I think we are in for a very very good PR Wednesday, with real numbers to back it up not just fluff.

I got two confirmations about the e-mail posted by outside sources but Paul finally got back to me with this...

that e-mail post is not true according to Paul, he just responded to my request and it won't matter anyway, the PPS is heading far north next week. I banned the posters on the other site!

is .10-.15cents a possibility?
what about the longer term like end of summer/year?

Posted by QuestSolver on :

CashCow...eventually I think the short term we hit the .20's but by year end I believe .50 is an obtainable target....trading this right will be quite profitable such as flipping for freebies and trying to hold a long position free.I think we will get some retracement once we hit the .08's to .10 but it should be minor and then pick back up into the double digits.Once it hits the low to mid teens we can expect the same retracing and if further news gives support then we should start really rolling.

Hello,

I am a current investor of CLBE and have been hearing on the message boards that many investors have contacted Paul in regards to a future PR. I am writing to verify whether the company is expecting to release a PR this week? I bought into the company based purely on Technical analysis, however the rumors begin and that's when it started to go up. Therefore, is there going to be a PR posted by the company this week?

thank you, stocks1984

**Please do not take this as any form of pumping, I did my DD and sharing with you investors my information. Seems to me that we will get a PR before the end of the week, hopefully tomorrow because the chart shows a probable turn of a reversal

Quest is over at another forum posting often, many of us are holding our shares and expecting double digits by next week. We have some of the best traders over at HSM in on this one, Quest, Metical, Kapone, Grizzums, and others... I feel really good about this and didn't sell any of my 280,000 shares on the shake today as I knew I did my D+D, this is a solid company with real audited financials and they are profitable, not to mention CLBE is in a rapidly growing industry. Once we get past .07 the shorts will run for cover and we'll move fast and hard IMO.

thanx stocks1984,got a similar e-mail late yesterday from paul...I just hope the press release hits today and not on Friday!! We also need to break the .07 wall which I will help drop it if we can hold near it! Once that falls we hit a dime or more imo and fast.

Very interesting article

Column: Stem cell policy requires your investment
Thursday, July 06, 2006
By Sharon Emery
Winning the hearts and minds of Michigan citizens is not usually required when setting the state's economic development policy. Relating to their pocketbooks is generally sufficient.

But the beleaguered state's attempts to capitalize on cutting-edge biomedical research requires the average citizen to make a personal investment in the debate over how Michigan should proceed on stem cell research.

What's required of us? Something even more painful than handing over our tax dollars

Figuring out where we stand on a public policy issue with moral implications beyond, say, the relative fairness of the Single Business Tax.

Specifically, should the state invest in research that uses stem cells extracted from embryos that are destroyed in the process, or should it focus on so-called adult stem cells taken from bone marrow and umbilical cord blood, which does not harm the donor.

"It's a very personal religious and moral issue that no one should avoid forming an opinion on," Kathleen Russell of Ann Arbor said at a February press conference. Russell has early-onset Parkinson's disease and supports embryonic stem cell research, but noted the issue had induced soul-searching in her own politically divided family.

Michigan law prohibits research that harms an embryo, so scientists here must work with stem cells that have been extracted elsewhere. Backers of easing Michigan's restrictions, as proposed by Rep. Andrew Meisner, D-Ferndale, say current law discourages research, harming patients who could potentially benefit, as well as economic growth.

"If politicians would get off the necks of researchers and allow them to research in a way that is ethical and transparent, we, too, would see breakthroughs," Meisner said recently.

Opponents say extracting embryonic stem cells is immoral and offers no more prospect for cures than adult stem cells. House Republicans recently introduced bills aimed at boosting state investment in adult stem cells by creating an umbilical cord blood bank from which adult stem cells could be extracted.
"My money's on adult stem cell research ... time and time again that's where we see breakthroughs," Rep. Jack Hoogendyk, R-Kalamazoo, said in outlining his support for the package, which is also backed by Reps. Leslie Mortimer, R-Horton, and Glenn Steil, R-Grand Rapids.

The Case for Adult Stem Cell Research

http://english.chosun.com/w21data/html/news/200510/200510060016.html

Catholic Church Funds Adult Stem Cell Research

The Catholic Church in Korea has decided to donate money for adult stem cell research. The move comes amid strong Vatican opposition to embryonic stem cell research and is reflects support for research into an alternative.
The Church has been among the most vocal opponents of embryonic stem cell research based on the belief that embryos are human beings. In Korea, a country leading that field of science, the Catholic Church is donating millions of dollars to aid research involving adult stem cells in the hope of reducing the increasing reliance on embryonic stem cells to treat hard-to-cure diseases.

"The research harms the integrity of life, and that's why we cannot accept the use of embryos," the church said. It wants to fund research on adult stem cells derived from bone marrow or umbilical cords that would otherwise be discarded after a baby is born. They say this is more practical and does not cause ethical controversy.

Stem Cell Therapies In The Future
In Stem Cell Therapies Today, we saw how stem cells are being used to treat diseases such as leukemia. Stem cell transplant procedures also show promise for treating neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease.

What does the future hold for stem cell therapies?

Researchers and physicians are working to design stem cell therapies that

Are more effective, and
Reduce the invasiveness and the risk to patients
Today's stem cell therapies usually rely on cells that are donated by another person. This raises the possibility of donor cell rejection by the patient's immune system. In the future, it may be possible for a person to use a sample of his or her own stem cells to regenerate tissue, which would reduce or even eliminate the danger of rejection. How might this be done? Some possibilities include:

Collecting healthy adult stem cells from a patient and manipulating them in the laboratory to create new tissue. The tissue would be re-transplanted back into the patient's body, where it would work to restore a lost function.
Therapeutic cloning, as described in Creating Stem Cells for Research, might enable the creation of embryonic stem cells that are genetically identical to the patient.
One less invasive way to achieve this goal would be to manipulate existing stem cells within the body to perform therapeutic tasks. For example, scientists might design a drug that would direct a certain type of stem cell to restore a lost function inside the patient's body. This approach would eliminate the need for invasive surgical procedures to harvest and transplant stem cells.
On the surface, the possibilities for stem cell therapy seem limitless. Couldn't we use stem cell technologies to replace any diseased or damaged tissue in the body? To answer this question, researchers must figure out the true potential and limitations of stem cells. Some questions currently being addressed include:

How long will a stem cell therapy last?

The reason we age is because our cells do. If adult stem cells are used in therapies, will the tissues created from those cells age and malfunction more quickly? Scientists don't yet know how long different stem cell treatments might last.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/4396156.stm

this is whats happening in Korea.....don't you think the stem cell banking is going to go crazy here to so people will have a resource of their on stem cells for any problems in the future?

Applications flood stem cell bank

A new global stem cell centre in South Korea says it has been inundated with applications from patients willing to take part in research at the institute.
Officials said about 3,500 patients volunteered on Tuesday, the centre's first day accepting applications.

The project is being led by cloning expert Dr Woo Suk Hwang, who has pioneered the development of stem cells tailored to individual patients.

Critics say using human embryos in research is unnecessary and unethical.

But proponents argue that stem cells taken from embryos offer the best hope of new treatments for a range of diseases and injuries.

By the end of Tuesday, some 3,500 applications had been received via the internet, telephone, fax and in person, said Lim Jong-pil, an official at the research centre at Seoul National University Hospital.

The centre did not receive any applications from foreign nationals, even though they were eligible, Mr Lim said.

It has not set a deadline for applications, neither has it decided when trials will begin.

Kary B. Mullis (The Unusual Origin of the Polymerase Chain Reaction, Sci. Amer., April 1990, p. 445).

He testified for the defence (against PCR) at the trial of OJ Simpson.

He also believes that HIV does not cause AIDS.

He's the head of the CLBE scientific advisory board.

question---I read in a new article recently that the current value of the stem cell industry in the year 2005 is about 500 million dollars. They estimate that the industry by the year 2010 only five years from now will be worth 30 Billion dollars a year...
With a 60 times the revenue in 2010

Questions such as?
We handle all CLBE news releases, shareholder calls and do numerous other initiatives for them, including finding other investors. We have been with them from the start and, indeed, helped management with a previous project. CalbaTech has at times hired other vendors, such as Agoracom, to assist in particular efforts. I spoke with them last night and again urged them to move forward with a news release on the stem cell banking achievements. Hope this helps.

a great post from the other board!

I humbly believe that all of us here, to a man, are looking for the one. The one that is going to exceed expectations quarter after quarter, for years. You need not be the giant in your industry to accelerate earnings. You need only to accelerate earnings. Performance is what moves stock prices from pennies to dollars to splits to dividends to retirement.

There are mainly, in my view, two positions in any market, growth and value. We invest in CALBATECH because we are looking for growth. It seems to be happening right before our eyes. Management is indicating that 2006 will show profitability, and the launch of the Stem Call Microbank could very well blow the doors off of those expectations.

I firmly believe that, when the microbank is embraced, most of the financial resources will be diverted to opening new microbanks. I don't care if you bought McDonalds, or Burger King, or Wendys, or Arbys, or etc...... if and when they were in the pennies. The rewards were fantastic.

May we all agree that first, the science of stem cells is real, and second, there is no better source than our own cells???? Add to that fact that the US government and the Catholic church will bomb or burn at the stake anyone who is willing to commit embryonic homicide.

I am banking on CLBE's brain trust to realize the dream of maintaining a raw material of treatment for the plethora of diseases which may be combatted with Adullt Human Stem Cells.

Profits will be made initially from the fear of the people, a fear that I have voiced for myself and consider realistic. There will be early adopters that are willing to leverage a little financial risk to overcome the limitation of their mortality. When the actual stem cell therapies, some of which have been successful already, go mainstream, there will be a certain rush. As I have stated, it will not be out of the ordinary for your health insurance company to require you to spend time collecting your stem cells in order to maintain your coverage.

Perhaps the next step is to bring that collection process to the people. Please give me credit when the CALBATECH crew stops by to collect your sample. After all, I thought of it first. (if I didn't, pls disregard.)

JohnDoe - That is a big misconception. Especially with growth companies like CLBE.

Is it just me or am I the only one who sees countless companies time and time again who run for weeks on GOOD NEWS?

This is not running on rumors or hype, it is in a state of price correction and the chart clearly shows that with the new support we have formed in the .06's

Tomorrow is going to be a breakout day for CLBE imo, especially if we break resistance at .07

if we break that it is straight into the double digits and beyond!

DO YOUR DD!

Good morning all! Wow,finding so many great articles and anyone can see from all angles why the adult stem cell banking and related issues will surely succeed in a massive way! Maybe thats why the CEO clearly said that CLBE's stock now has the potential for tremdous growth!

Scalp tissue might become stem cell source

PHILADELPHIA, July 12 (UPI) -- U.S. researchers have isolated a new source of adult stem cells in scalp tissue that might be able to differentiate into several cell types
University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine scientists say if their research proves to be safe and effective in animal and human studies, it might eventually provide the tissue needed for treating such disorders and peripheral nerve disease, Parkinson's disease and spinal cord injury.

"We are very excited about this new source of adult stem cells that has the potential for a variety of applications," said senior author Dr. Xiaowei Xu, an assistant professor of pathology. "A number of reports have pointed to the fact that adult stem cells may be more flexible in what they become than previously thought, so we decided to look in the hair follicle bulge, a niche for these cells."

Xu and colleagues report their findings in the American Journal of Pathology.

this shows how controversal the embryonic stem cell issues are and why all attention will come directly to ADULT STEM CELL uses and R&D!!! Calbatech will be on top of the list!

DENVER (AP) -- President Bush will probably issue his first veto if the Senate approves a bill to expand federal funding of embryonic stem-cell research, White House aide Karl Rove told a newspaper's editorial board.

"The president is emphatic about this," Rove said in the meeting Monday, according to a story posted on the Denver Post's Web site.

The House has already passed the stem cell legislation, co-sponsored by Rep. Diana DeGette, D-Colorado, and Rep. Mike Castle, R-Delaware.

Rove said he believes the legislation will pass the Senate with more than 60 votes sometime this month -- "and as a result the president would, as he has previously said emphatically, veto the Castle bill."

The Bush administration has allowed federal funding only for existing lines of embryonic stem cells. Researchers and patients' groups say that policy hinders vital research.

"We were all an embryo at one point, and we ought to as a society be very careful about being callous about the wanton destruction of embryos, of life," Rove said. He said research shows "we have far more promise from adult stem cells than from embryonic stem cells."

Rove was in Colorado to speak Sunday at an Aspen Institute forum.

can't believe level 2 getting jiggy already...LOL...only 3 MM's under a dime and only two at .088 and one at .095.....yes...looks like a good day ahead but for all you newbies remember yesterday, they will probably drop this and bounce it back to higher levels a couple more times throughout the day so either walk away from your computer or have a handy supply of Rolaids,Tums or beer!..LOL

Posted by QuestSolver on :

BTW the people who were talking about the "sell on news" therory....did ya look at FHAL yesterday....and they had 2 PR's....LOL....see, smart money doesn't always sell on the news!

Posted by QuestSolver on :

and theyre off and looking good after that short fake to pick up some more in the .08's for support!

Posted by djg7 on :

Here we go again. It's fun to watch.

Posted by QuestSolver on :

look they are doing this perfect!! they are slowly going back and forth buying into the gaps and filling at each level...now I am convinced they feel this is head north...and I mean seriously north!!! do you actually think they want any average Joe share holder holding shares in the single digit pennies? No way, they are about to entice sellers and they will catch hell buying back in!! this now even looks more like BIPH then before!

Posted by QuestSolver on :

get in ASAP people I am telling ya!!! look for the .20's near term!!

Posted by djg7 on :

This will have it's dips to shake people. I'm not going anywhere Quest. I learned from my last screw up.

Posted by Schwabie on :

me 2 !

Posted by QuestSolver on :

they are now filling in all the .09's first therefore raising the support to a stronger level...this will be breaking a dime soon and if this continues we will seen the teens and twenties in the short term imo.

Posted by Schwabie on :

walking it down

Posted by QuestSolver on :

with todays lows in the .08's I feel pretty damn good about this filling gaps and heading farther north soon!

Posted by djg7 on :

I just got back. I see we are establishing new low resistance points for each bounce which keep going up. I like what I see!

Posted by QuestSolver on :

djg7....support due to the gap filling now in the .09's is outstanding, they are really setting this up for some serious long term gains imo.

Posted by djg7 on :

I agree. They had to fill the gaps before they walk it up. That's a healthy thing to do. This will be a fun ride.

Posted by QuestSolver on :

no one is able to get an good size blocks between .09 and .092 without moving the ask out of the way and no AON buys are getting hit it seems....LOL whats that tell ya? shares are running scarce now in the lower .09's

Great chart. I hope the MMs can break
thru the 0.10 wall soon.

heading into the lunchtime lull....remember recently the day that CLBE hit .07? and it retraced back only to KILL the .07's the following day.....its because they retraced to fill the rest of the orders before they clobbered .07's....I wonder if that plan is to be repeated now with the dime since we touched it already!

from the other board

Compare the trend 6 months ago. We are going to continue to rise. More volume would really help though

also from the other board

CLBE is making a pattern. The last candle shadow touched the 7 like an arrow pointing to the resistance. And look back across that chart at the huge resistance there. It took a couple of days to dig through it but it did.

Then yesterday it ran up and shadow touched the .095 resistance, like an arrow pointing where it would break out next. Then it backed up and refilled all the .08's Built a platform and then today it ran up and shadow touched the 10 resistance, also leaving an arrow pointing to the next break out. now it has com back to fill the .09s making another solid base to run for the next level.

My guess is we close *.095 or so. tomoorow it breaks the .10 down easilly ruinning up to shadow touch the 11.5 mark and then com back and fill the .10's in nicely.

now if a PR breaks, throw all that out the window. It could be an all out break run with that PR. Either way, i wish i could get funds available today to get more in the low .09s. This is the new support, .07s are long gone. and .08s are getting burried right now. LOOK at that chart, it is so friggin beautifull.

for the poster that ask why this was moving, besides the price correction that was overdue this here could have a little to do with it...

Sincerely,
James DeOlden
Chief Executive Officer

any thoughts on how we did today?

I bought in kinda early so im stuck red right now.

Looking at the charts, our .08 close is still above the 5MA, 10MA, 20MA and the RSI 14 hit 70; I am hoping it will either stay around 70 or break it going higher, but at this point this can go either way... However, the MACD 12,26,29 are still positive and the histograms still show some strength. Also, it looks like the 20MA is going to cross the 200MA next week or later so if we can maintain these levels, I think a push to the .10's are possible... all my opinion of course.

Tell me what you guys think!

Bush veto awaits stem-cell research bill

http://www.cantonrep.com/index.php?I...61&Category=23

the quote from the above articles =>

"The bills would then move to the White House. Rep. Mike Castle, R-Del., who authored the original bill, said he expects the president to veto the embryonic bill quietly, then hold a signing ceremony for the adult stem cell bill, touting his support for stem cell research."

"Opponents of the bill are, like Bush, firm in their belief that destroying embryos for science is immoral. They say that adult stem cell research is closer to curing some diseases."

This is why I believe CLBE will be at a dollar at some point in the reasonable near future:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...071201425.html

<<In a delicate election-year balancing act, Frist also will bring up a measure that would ban so-called "fetal farming," described as growing fetuses for the sole purpose of harvesting tissue. The other would fund research for stem cells derived from adults.

The House would then act quickly to pass the two non-controversial bills and all three would be sent to Bush for his signature. Bush would veto the embryonic bill and sign one or both of the others, giving him and social conservatives in Congress fresh evidence to present to voters this fall that they support stem cell research.>>

Next year, I wouldn't be surprised to be sitting around waiting on a PR from CLBE that they are going to get Federal funding for their part in Adult Stem Cell research.

Paul Knopick: Stock Insight on CalbaTech (OTC BB: CLBE)

(The web site http://stockdollars.********.com/ has a new report today on CalbaTech (OTC BB: CLBE). The conclusion follows. This is not a paid report. We very much recommend you visit their new site: http://www.stockinsightia.com/ . Paul Knopick E & E Communications)

The ideal entry for CLBE would be .041, but I do not think we'll get that opportunity today. If we do, I expect it to be quick.

In summary, we have a company with some exciting prospects in a very new market in the medical science industry. Their revenues and earnings are growing, and according to the CEO are ready to accelerate even further. Additionally, he feels that the stock is undervalued at its current price level based on these expected future developments, and I would agree.

...That the debate is happening at all is the result of a deal brokered by Frist, who broke a yearlong standoff between supporters and opponents of the legislation. To satisfy opponents and clear objections blocking the debate, Frist also is allowing votes on two related bills. One, sponsored by Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., would encourage study on stem cells derived from sources other than embryos. The other, sponsored by Santorum and Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., would ban so-called "fetal farming," the possibility of developing fetuses and aborting them for scientific purposes. Those two bills are uncontroversial. The House is expected to approve them Tuesday by voice vote, and Bush is expected to sign them.

The above info was taken from an article on MSN today. That article can be read at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13903040/

Tuesday is shaping up to be a real good day for CLBE. The PR could come in the AM but my guess is they will release it AFTER the vote on Tuesday to reference the bills passing the Senate. I say the PR comes out in the late afternoon or in the AM on Wednesday.

I would like to report a fact: the MMs
let the pps jump from 0.071 to 0.075 with
a volume of 84k. This indicates that the
MMs have full control of pps movement.
They can raise it or dump it, depending
on their need, either to unload or collect
shares. So we should treat ClBE as pump/dump
stock from the MMs point of view. You should
set a target for profit taking. Never consider
it as an investment unless CLBE is moved
to Nasdaq. BTW, the MMs have used PRs to
create 5 fake runs in the last two months.
This is my personal opinion only.

Frist Remarks On Stem Cell Research
posted July 17, 2006

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, M.D., delivered the following statement on the Senate floor Monday as the debate over stem cell research began. The remarks as prepared for delivery follow:

“Earlier this afternoon, we began debate on what has become the first major moral and ethical challenge to biomedical research in the 21st century: the future of stem cell research.

“Modern science advances by leaps and bounds. Less than a century ago, there were no antibiotics, no vaccines. Measles, mumps, small pox, polio — all diseases that ravaged our population a hundred years ago – and yet today, they no longer intimidate us. They're virtually eradicated.

“With such forward momentum, biomedical research is constantly changing. And that means that the rules and processes governing stem cell research must constantly be reassessed — and changed – when fitting. It should not be driven by the research community alone. This is our responsibility as United States senators.

“That's why we're here today. We have before us three bills: S.3504, the Fetus Farming Prohibition Act; S.2754, the Alternative Pluripotent Stem Cell Therapies Enhancement Act; and H.R.810, the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act. Each addresses a different facet of the issues raised by advancing stem cell research. And each demands thoughtful deliberation.

“I came to this floor five years ago — on July 18, 2001 — and laid out a comprehensive proposal to promote stem cell research within an ethical framework. I proposed 10 specific interdependent principles. They dealt with all types of stem cell research, including adult and embryonic stem cells.

“They have kept me consistent and guided my assessment of stem cell research since it first came to the forefront. And they've provided a framework for evaluating the various pieces of legislation on stem cells that have come before this body. My 10 principles are:

1. Ban embryo creation for research;
2. Continue funding ban on derivation;
3. Ban human cloning;
4. Increase adult stem cell research;
5. Provide funding for embryonic stem cell research only from blastocysts that would otherwise be discarded;
6. Require a rigorous informed consent process;
7. Limit number of stem cell lines;
8. Establish a strong public research oversight system;
9. Require ongoing, independent scientific and ethical review;
10. Strengthen and harmonize fetal tissue research restrictions.

“Principles are meant to stand the test of time — even when applied to a field changing as quickly as stem cell research.

“I believe that embryonic stem cell research and adult stem cell research should be federally funded within a carefully regulated, fully transparent, fully accountable framework, ensuring the highest level of respect for the moral significance of the human embryo.

“But, we should fund research only on embryonic stem cells derived from blastocysts left over from fertility therapy, which are destined to be discarded and destroyed.

“I am pro-life. I believe human life begins at conception. It is at this moment that the organism is complete — immature, but complete. It's genetically distinct. It's biologically human — living.

“Development is a gradual, continuous process. We were all once embryos — human life at its earliest stage of development. And accordingly, the human embryo has moral significance and moral worth. It deserves to be treated with the utmost dignity and respect.

S.3504, the Fetus Farming Prohibition Act of 2006 (Santorum and Brownback)

“Fetus farming — the implantation and gestation of a human embryo in a human or animal for the purpose of aborting for research — falls far short of "utmost dignity and respect."

“The Fetus Farming Prohibition Act of 2006 (S.3504) ensures that this practice is never employed in human research in the U.S.

“The purposeful development of a human embryo — the manufacture of human life — for experimentation and its ultimate destruction is morally reprehensible. It offends the conscience, degrades the value of human life, and isn’t medically necessary.

“Yet it's a practice that some in the field of developmental biology may be inclined to pursue. Not only does it demonstrate a flagrant lack of respect for nascent human life, but it creates powerful incentives for women to undergo an intense regimen of superovulation drugs and surgery, with potentially devastating side effects. It could exploit women, the most likely targets of egg harvesting for fetus farming.

“Under no circumstances could human fetus farming be labeled ‘medical advancement.’ It's the exact opposite: an unconscionable regression of the mores that define our culture — a culture that holds the utmost respect for life and health.

“I have seen firsthand how new medical discoveries and techniques can save lives and make life more fulfilling for others. But I have also seen how fear could and did delay scientific medical advances. To bridge this divide, we must reject a fear of scientific and technological advance. Instead, we must work together to build an ethical framework for pursuing it.

“But even while we reject a fear of scientific and technological advancement, we must still live within limits. Limits do not hamper human advances, but rather allow us to preserve them and promote them. That's why we can reject the practice of fetus farming while still embracing the hope offered by stem cell research. Senators Brownback and Santorum worked hard to bring this important legislation to the floor, and I hope my colleagues will join me in supporting it.

S.2574, the Alternative Pluripotent Stem Cell Therapies Enhancement Act (Santorum and Specter)

“On July 18th of 2001, I said,

‘We should not let the potential of this research drive the moral considerations themselves….We do not know what the next great discovery is going to be six months from now....So the oversight process has to be responsive, has to be ongoing. It has to recognize that science moves very quickly.’

“That's why we're here. We recognize that science cannot be practiced in a vacuum. We need to promote and accelerate medical advances — but we also need to ensure that research practices are channeled along lines that respect human life and dignity.

“What seemed impossible, even five years ago, now seems possible. Exciting techniques are now emerging that may make it unnecessary to destroy embryos — even those that will be discarded anyway — to obtain cells with the same unique pluripotential properties as embryonic stem cells. Cells that have the capacity to become any type of tissue in the human body, and the ability to renew and replicate themselves over and over again, indefinitely.

“For example, an adult stem cell could be ‘reprogrammed’ back to an earlier embryonic stage. This may prove to be the best way, both scientifically and ethically, to overcome rejection and other barriers to effective stem cell therapies.

“To me — and I would hope to every member of this body — that's research worth promoting. And that's why I fully support S.2754, the Alternative Pluripotent Stem Cell Therapies Enhancement Act.

“In May of 2005, the President's Council on Bioethics issued a report bringing these alternative sources attention. At that time, I asked several of my colleagues to come together and consider how we might encourage their development. With more federal support and emphasis, these newer methods may offer huge scientific and clinical pay-offs. They may bridge moral and ethical differences among people who now hold very different views on stem cell research because they avoid destruction of any human embryos.

“These alternative methods of potentially deriving pluripotent cells include:

1. Extraction from embryos that are no longer living;
2. Non-lethal and non-harmful extraction from embryos;
3. Extraction from artificially created organisms that are not embryos, but embryo-like; and
4. Reprogramming adult cells to pluripotent state through fusion with embryonic cell lines.

“We are already driving and promoting ethical alternatives like adult stem cell and cord blood research — both of which have become important in the course of treatment of numerous diseases.

“To date, adult stem cell research is the only type of stem cell research that has resulted in proven treatments for human patients. And stem cells taken from cord blood have shown great promise in treating leukemia, myeloproliferative disorders, and congenital immune system disorders. Recently, cord blood cells have shown some ability to become natural cells, which could lead to treatments for Parkinson's disease and heart disease.

“Every day we unlock more of the mysteries of human life and more ways to promote and enhance our health. This compels profound questions — moral questions with which we understandably struggle.

“Transplantation posed questions similar to those we now face with stem cell research. What are the markers of a ‘dead’ embryo — meaning it displays specific signs that indicate it won't successfully implant?

“If we can answer this question — if we can devise a moral and ethical framework — then it's my belief we'll have the chance to save many lives, and make countless others more fulfilling. That's why it's imperative that we get our stem cell policy right — scientifically, morally, and ethically.

“I'm a physician. My profession is healing. In all forms of stem cell research, I see today, just as I saw in 2001, great promise to heal. Whether it's diabetes, Parkinson's disease, heart disease, Lou Gehrig's disease, or spinal cord injuries, stem cells offer hope for treatment that other lines of research cannot offer.

“Adult stem cells are powerful. They've effectively treated many diseases and are theoretically promising for others. But embryonic stem cells are uniquely necessary for potentially treating other diseases. Unlike other stem cells, embryonic stem cells are pluripotent. That means they have the capacity to become any type of tissue in the human body. Moreover, they are capable of renewing themselves and replicating themselves over and over again, indefinitely.

“President Bush recognizes this. On August 9, 2001, shortly after I laid out my principles for embryonic stem cell research, the president put into place a policy, which I supported, that for the first time allowed federal funding to explore the potential of embryonic stem cells. The president's policy was generally consistent with my seventh principle: Limit the number of stem cell lines. To establish this limit, he used a date. Lines derived prior to August 9, 2001, are eligible for federal research funds.

“However, in the text of the very same principle, I clearly said that Congress must conduct ongoing oversight.

H.R.810, the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act (Specter and Hatch; Castle and DeGette)

“Over the last five years, we’ve learned that, while it was widely believed 78 embryonic stem cell lines would be available for federal funding, that has proven not to be the case. Today only 22 lines are eligible. Moreover, those lines are starting to become less stable and less replicative than initially thought.

“While human embryonic stem cell research is still at a very early stage, the limitations put in place in 2001 will, over time, slow our ability to bring potential new treatments for certain diseases. Therefore, while I agree with the president's policy, I believe it should be modified.

“That is why I support and will vote for H.R.810, the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act. H.R.810 is far from perfect or ideal. However, H.R.810 does include a few essential restrictions. While the bill, as written, restricts funding to blastocysts left over after IVF that would otherwise be discarded (my fifth principle), it also has significant shortcomings.

“First, it lacks a strong ethical and scientific oversight mechanism. Second, the bill doesn't prohibit financial or other incentives between scientists and fertility clinics. Third, the bill doesn't specify whether the patients or clinic staff or anyone else has the final say about whether an embryo will be implanted or will be discarded.

“Were circumstances different and had the House not acted so quickly, I think we would have seen a thoughtful and thorough rewrite of the bill. Thus, with appropriate reservations, I support the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act.

“Many of my colleagues have, like me, spent countless hours grappling with this issue — the future of stem cell research. How do we balance pro-life positions with the potential for new life and health offered by stem cell research? There is, perhaps, an inclination to avoid such difficult issues, to ignore them and let others debate. But I have come to realize: We must participate in defining research surrounding the culture of life. If not, it will define us.

“Let me close with a cautionary note. Today, I've heard a number of my colleagues, myself included, talk about the potential for healing — the inherent hope — offered by both adult and embryonic stem cell research. But it's important that advocates not oversell this potential for medical treatments. This evolving science is relatively new, and much basic research remains before we can reasonably expect to see clinical trials and possible treatments.

“Finally, let me thank all of my colleagues. We share many, many different view points on stem cell policy and fetal farming. The three bills represent important steps in defining science policy and advancing the practice of medicine. I hope that the votes tomorrow will show there are areas of consensus among us, and that where differences exist, we can respectfully articulate and vote our conscience.

Jim I am sorry but your way off base on you line of thinking with CLBE but I do respect your opinions. The shares are so thin now that almost any individual buyer or seller will affect the PPS,just try it tomorrow with about $1000 and put a bid in differant from the one we see and see how fast it changes. The MM's have a lot less to work with here and this morning I put a massive buy in in the .05's (790,000 shares) and only got 5k and as you see thru my postings I kept raising it but also provided solid support in the .06's to. I only got just over 500k today out of my target of 800k under .065.The insiders own a boatload which is tied up and many holding now are long for whats the obvious is heading our way due to all the press on adult stem cell issues. Either way I am not sure it will gap since CLBE rarely does but it will be heading north imo.

JIM why have you switched your mood from being for sure with CLBE as a 6 week hold and are now saying we should be careful and not consider CLBE as an investment anymore?

just doing some DD alone shows why this is an outstanding investment and you should always hold a core position for the future.

The Senate is scheduled to vote Tuesday on a package of three stem-cell bills. One of them could force President Bush to hand down his first veto.

Discussions in the Senate on Monday involved many impassioned discussions about the moral status of an embryo, some supported by dubious statistics. We've updated our Stem Cell FAQ so you can follow along on C-SPAN and call bullpucky when you hear it.

a great view from the other board....

My feeling still is that the PR will not come out until after today's Senate vote on the stem cell bills. CLBE wants to use the press coverage from that event to push themselves into the public eye. My guess is a late afternoon PR or early AM tomorrow. Just makes no sense to put out a PR this morning in front of the senate vote.

but they would be foolish to not use this nationwide attention with adult stem cell research to their advantage

FROM THE OTHER BOARD!!

I wanted to get his opinion, independent of "if" and "when" a PR would be produced, on WHY this stock was trading in the pennies and WHAT is going to move the value of this stock up. Here's what I wrote and his reply:

Paul,

I have been interested specifically in Adult Stem Cell research progress. I've read over the last 5 years that the progress made has gone from "Adult Stem Cells may have benefits...." to now reading about how Adult Stem Cells have corrected the injured spinal cord of a lab rat. I have started buying Calba Tech stock a few months ago for pennies per share. I plan to continue accumulating more but would like your opinion on where this company is heading. I've read about some initiatives, including the launch of the Microbank. I was hoping you may be able to advise why the shares are trading so low and what is going on with Calba Tech that will add value to the stock. Thanks in advance for your reply.

Regards,

His reply -

CalbaTech bought several cash-producing firms (K-D Medical for instance) in its first years of existence to give them revenue for other projects. This includes its stem cell banking project, which is being launched now, a news release on it expected any day now. The potential benefits of stem cells for curing or treating today's intractable diseases are enormous. CalbaTech did a financing which hurt its stock price significantly. It is (we all hope) digging out of that hole. I hope this helps.

Paul Knopick

Two things... (1) He volunteered the whole "news release" bit without me asking. (2) I didn't dig as deep as many here and did not know about the bad financing that took place.

Conclusion - PR will be released "any day now". And, since this is a profitable company now, past bad financing stands a good chance of being resolved. These items, coupled with the future of Adult Stem Cell progress, = dollar land, IMHO.

remember back a few months ago how many sold during the dry period but now the world has changed and this is just the beginning of the season for CLBE and with all the blocks lined up and all the numbers stay correct and if the fundamentals remain inline we are probably looking at and end of year close around .50 or so imo of course......the market is primed for this and its subs and showing a profit will only add to it!

Hey - I'm new to this thread but I just wanted to clear up a bunch of misconceptions out there. I work in politics in DC and know what I am talking about. There are three bills out there. One bill would expand federal funding for research using cells derived from embryos. The two other bills the Senate will pass tonight include one steering funding toward stem-cell research that does not involve embryonic cells (the only one everyone in CLBE should care about) and another banning the practice of "fetal farming," the development of embryos for the sole purpose of research.

Bush will only veto the embryonic funding bill!!! He supports the other bills!! Good article from National Journal's Congress Daily - it's subscription so you might not get it.

FYI - Watching C-Span 2 (part of the job) and they are voting right this minute on the only bill that anyone here should care about - financially speaking, that is.

Stem Cells Might Be Making Last Appearance In Congress
With the Senate set to cast its last stem-cell vote of the year today and a presidential veto a foregone conclusion, backers of expanding embryonic stem-cell research might have a long wait before the issue comes up again. To be sure, supporters of the House-passed stem-cell bill are vowing to continue to press the issue despite the White House and parliamentary roadblocks. "I intend to find any moving vehicle I can, any bill that might be germane, to attach this to," said Rep. Diana DeGette, D-Colo., who authored the House-passed bill with Rep. Michael Castle, R-Del. Democrats also have political reasons for keeping the topic alive: They believe the issue is a political winner for them. "This issue is not going away," said Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions ranking member Edward Kennedy, D-Mass. "There are some issues you cannot get off the national agenda ... this is one of them."
But under the consent agreement the Senate adopted for considering the stem-cell bills, no other stem-cell bill or amendment will get a vote in the chamber this year. And some see the Senate outlook under Majority Leader Frist, who supports the embryonic stem-cell bill, as the most favorable for the legislation for the foreseeable future. Frist, who is retiring at the end of this session, is expected to be succeeded by Majority Whip McConnell, who is opposed to the bill, if the GOP maintains the Senate majority. No similar agreement precluding additional stem-cell votes exists in the House, although the chamber's GOP leaders oppose more votes, making it unlikely they would give backers of the bill another chance to bring up the divisive issue.
Meanwhile, the Castle-DeGette bill is expected to easily garner the 60 votes later today needed to pass the Senate. But both sides are watching how many more votes it nets: Backers are aiming for a symbolic 67 votes -- the number potentially needed to override a presidential veto -- while opponents are aiming to keep the number low. The House this evening is set to clear two additional stem-cell bills after the Senate passes them. One would ban the practice of "fetal farming," the creation of embryos for research, and the other would direct federal funding to stem cell research that does not rely on embryos. White House Press Secretary Tony Snow today said President Bush will waste no time vetoing the legislation altering the president's 2001 policy restricting research on embryonic stem cell lines once the bill makes its way to the White House. "My understanding is it will be pretty swift," Snow said of the promised veto. Snow said there would be no ceremony marking the veto, though there might be a signing ceremony for the two related stem-cell bills the president supports. -- by Emily Heil

Wow, Federal funding by the government. This is huge for CLBE.

Posted by QuestSolver on :

also from the other board

The Senate voted 63-37 to clear HR 810, to expand federal funding for embryonic stem cell research. President Bush has said he will veto the legislation. When a bill passes both Houses of Congress (House and Senate) it comes to the President and he can either sign it or veto it (a little more complex but the general gist). A veto is basically rejecting a bill. A veto can be overidden but it needs to then pass both Houses with a 2/3 majority (not just a simple majority) - which means 67 votes in the Senate. I severely doubt 4 Senators would switch their votes on this- unless they want to kiss their jobs goodbye. Sorry in advance if you knew what a veto is. Honestly, I know nothing about Canada's government and if you started using terms I was unfamiliar with I would be lost.

The Senate also voted 100-0 to pass S 2754, to encourage/fund research into obtaining stem cells without destroying embryos(aka-adult stem cells). This is what CLBE will live (hopefully quite well), or would have died on. This bill has the President's support and will be signed into law.

Calbatech = Adult Stem Cell

Bush = President

Senate vote Embryonic Stem Cell Bill = yes

Bush Embryonic Stem Cell = no

Senate vote 67%+ > Bush

Senate vote 66%- < Bush

Senate vote = 64% = Bush win = Adult Stem Cell win = Calbatech win

Sort of... not that adult stem cells would have "lost" but it gives those who work with adult stem cells a victory

The damn adult stem cell bill did not pass because of a procedural obstacle. However, Karl Rove did say Bush would pass it because:

"Bush would veto the embryonic stem-cell bill, Rove says ... Bush said research shows “we have far more promise from adult stem cells than from embryonic stem cells.” ...

GLTA holding here for the big ride with 20K shares. Wish you all the best and most fortunate!

Embrionic stem cell no

CLBE only deals with adult stem cells.

So this is huge!!

This catastrophic stuff is nonsense. Everyone pay attention.

As I understand it, Calbatech has formed their company to be compliment to all stem cell research.

They gained access to the National Institute of Health and major druggies through KD Medical:

Quote:
In 2004, we acquired KD Medical, a company in Columbia, Maryland, that supplied research products to more than 300 National Institute of Health (NIH) laboratories, as well as most of the major pharmaceutical companies.

One of their divisions is dedicated to producing delivery systems to provide stem cells to the organs that need it:

Quote:
In 2004, we purchased I-Stem from Dr. Jason R. Van Tassell, M.D. I-Stem owned the intellectual property to the Stem Cell Delivery Device, an endoscopic device capable of delivering adult stem cells directly to infarcted cardiac tissue.

Then they began to working on banking adult stem cells:

Quote:
Subsequently the Company formed LifeStem, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary, to further I-Stem as well as to enter the new emerging field of banking adult stem cells for autologous use.

Quote:
We therefore developed the process of harvesting stem cells in micro quantities to be cryopreserved for future transplantation into the client.

Quote:
LifeStem's Adult Stem Cell MicroBank(TM) is the only company to offer "micro" collections of stem cells from two different tissue sources thereby offering greater potential for treatments for multiple diseased conditions.

Then they began spreading their collection sites, first with

Quote:
To this end, in December 2005, we signed a distribution agreement with Solana MedSpas, a developer and syndicator of medical spas, with 25 medspas currently open and operating and plans for more than 50 additional locations to open during 2006.

Also with:

Quote:
We are also working to contract with physician's offices to carry our Stem Cell MicroBank(TM) Service and believe that cosmetic surgeons, cardiologists, and orthopedists will be excellent distribution sites.

We are talking about a company that is very well placed for what some have called the only significant technological revolution since the microchip.

There is no catastrophy save the promise of stem cells never bearing fruit.

Very unlikely, IMO.

My position has not changed at all for CLBE,simple due diligence in the company may show you why I believe it will close THIS year out at or above .50 and imo will be trading between $2 and $4 a share within 18 to 24 months if not sooner.

Solana hopes to break out of the swell of spas with what it bills as a unique service: stem cell collection. Although the research is largely unproven, adult stem cells are seen by some as offering potential for treating heart disease, Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease and spinal cord injuries.

Solana has teamed with Irvine-based CalbaTech Inc. to collect stem cells at some of its spa locations. CalbaTech is a biotech company that’s part owner of Solana.

Solana draws stem cells from the abdomen for $3,000. The service is being offered in La Quinta and Pasadena. It plans to roll out stem cell collection to its 18 California locations, said Chief Executive John Buckingham, who codeveloped a spa management program at the University of California, Irvine.

Local investor John Garcia, who had his stem cells banked 10 years ago theold-fashioned way—they were painfully extracted from bone marrow—put Solana and CalbaTech together, Buckingham said. Garcia is founding principal of Tustin-based Angel Strategies LLC, which has invested in Solana.

Solana said it expects to have 38 spas open by the end of June and about 50 by the end of 2006.

Solana MedSpas’ overall strategy includes continually evaluating new technologies and services that will exclusively deliver leading edge products and services to its client / owners. A stunning example is their recent agreement with LifeStem, Inc., to offer its Stem Cell MicroBank Service through select locations in the Solana MedSpas network, making Solana MedSpas the first medical spa network to offer an adult stem cell collection service. Recent research indicates that autologous (one’s own) adult stem cells hold the potential for treatment, cure and possible prevention of numerous afflictions such as heart disease, Parkinson’s Disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, and spinal cord injuries. LifeStem, Inc., headquartered in Irvine, Calif., is a wholly owned subsidiary of CalbaTech, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: CLBE), a publicly traded emerging life sciences company concentrating on providing products and platforms to the research market for biotech and pharmaceutical companies and to academic institutions.

People aged 35 - 50 had the most procedures done - 44% of total.
75% of U.S. population age 35-65 has some treatable, pigmented lesion.
Men account for 25% of medspa procedures and the trend continues to grow.
In just the female age group 22 – 34, there were 2 million users from only 1,000 suppliers – demand far exceeds supply and is expected to continue for 20 years.

Independent Market Data

Dr. Marian Luban, CEO MedSpa Alliance – “No other firm in the MedSpa industry has figured out how to pull off a national MedSpa business development program.”

International Spa Association – “MedSpas have grown 147% in last five years – highest growth of any spa type!”

Dr. Robert Keller of the Pebble Beach, California Skin Institute cites three factors to understand the phenomenal growth in the MedSpa industry:

• The alternative medicine movement: Dr. Andrew Weil
• The physical structure of spas are already in place
• The baby boomers now make up 51% of total U.S. population

The spa industry is growing at an incredible rate, with experts pegging the average revenue increase at 114%. This astonishing growth is attributed to the demand for the “stress-free” environment, a place where people can escape the frantic, daily grind. The spa industry registers 155.8 million visits every year with a steady triple figure annual growth seen within the next 10 years. In 2004, the spa industry accounted for $11.2 billion in revenues.

12,000 Americans turn 50 every day (1 every 8 seconds!) and this will continue for the next 20 years. Studies show the number of Americans over 55 will grow by 60% in the next 20 years and their buying power will exceed $2 trillion by 2007. In addition, within the next five years, boomers will experience the biggest transference of wealth in U.S. history, making them wealthier.

Illinois' governor announced Thursday he was diverting $5 million from the state budget for stem cell research, despite repeated objections from state legislators.

The move came a day after President Bush vetoed federal legislation that would have expanded funding for embryonic stem cell research.

Illinois lawmakers have previously voted down stem cell funding over ideological differences, and this spring they didn't take up the governor's proposal for $100 million in funding over five years.

"Investing in research that can save lives and prevent serious illnesses is more than a sound public health strategy, it's our moral obligation," Gov. Rod Blagojevich, a Democrat, said in a statement Thursday.

The money will come out of administrative funds already set aside for the state Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Blagojevich said.

Stem cells are building blocks that turn into different types of tissue. Embryonic stem cells are able to turn into any tissue, given the right biochemical instructions. Scientists hope to harness them to regenerate damaged organs or other body parts.

Many opponents of the research consider embryonic stem cells to be early human life

Schwarzenegger Gives ($)150M Stem Cell Loan

A day after President Bush vetoed expanded federal funding of embryonic stem cell research, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Thursday authorized a $150 million loan to fund California's stem cell institute, which has been stalled by lawsuits.

Schwarzenegger, a Republican who has been trying to put distance between himself and the unpopular president as he seeks re-election this year, said the state cannot afford to wait to fund the critical science associated with stem cells.

"I remain committed to advancing stem cell research in California, in the promise it holds for millions of our citizens who suffer from chronic diseases and injuries that could be helped as a result of stem cell research," Schwarzenegger said in a letter to his finance director.

The state's voters created the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine in 2004 when they passed a ballot measure that authorized $3 billion over 10 years for stem cell research.

Lawyers with ties to anti-abortion and anti-tax groups have sued, arguing that the institute is unconstitutional.

On April 21, a Superior Court judge ruled the institute was a legitimate state agency. But if opponents continue to contest the agency in court, they could hold up the institute's financing until at least next year.

Elsewhere, Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, a Democrat, announced Thursday that he is diverting $5 million from the state budget for stem cell research, despite repeated objections from state legislators.

"Investing in research that can save lives and prevent serious illnesses is more than a sound public health strategy, it's our moral obligation," he said.

The money will come out of administrative funds already set aside for the state Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Blagojevich said.

From: SessionsIR.com

SessionsIR.com: Genentech Named Best Firm by Fortune: CLBE, STEM, YMI, SNY, DNA

(CLBE) is a great mid-long term investment. They just recently reported a significant increase in revenues for the past 9 months. With another profitable quarter, this one could break out to new trading ranges. This is a not another junky catchpenny. They sell quality products and are engaged in a business that will play a huge roll in stem cell developments these next few years.

Here are some the quotes from their recent 10K:

-Regarding LifeStem's stem cell banking service: "It is not unreasonable to project potential revenues approaching $100 Million within 36 to 48 months with as few as 10,000 clients."

-After the acquisition of KD Medical, the Research Reagents Division has two companies with combined 2004 revenues of approximately $1.2 Million in gross revenues. Within three years, it is anticipated that revenues will grow to $5 Million.

-The Company anticipates the launch of LifeStem's stem cell MicroBank in the first quarter of 2006, which the Company believes will lead to significant additional revenue.

CalbaTech, Inc. ( OTC:CLBE) has made impressive strides in the last year. As well as acquiring KD Medical, the company generated substantially increased revenues of $952,312 in the first three quarters of 2005, up from $128,940 during the same period last year, an increase of over 600%. The company is understandably pleased, particularly since operating expenses remained relatively steady, allowing for acquisition and financing costs, despite the significantly increased activity.

CalbaTech, Inc.. The Group's principal activities are to provide products and platforms to the life sciences research market, both for biotech and pharmaceutical companies. The customers include federally funded research centers, supply stores, university and private research centers, medical distributors and Original Equipment Manufacturers.

Clabatech CEO is giving us all some insider information with this statement from the last letter to shareholders.

"We believe this means that CalbaTech has tremendous stock upside potential."

Some will ignore this but to the few that have done hours of DD and really researched this company, we know this company is growing a rapid pace in an industry thats projected to grow from 50 million to 10 billion in the next 4 years. Can it really get any clearer? Most will wait until financials come out but then you are going to be chasing this one up. ANd with the low float this will move like TDCP did. From what I've read the stem cell banking centers are Calbatechs most profitable division and they are just starting out with opening these facilities.

I bought this stock because trading pennies can be very stressful, I've been through it all with pennies and I'm ready to take on a different trading style now that I made back my losses with PAIV a few days ago. My plan is like Quest's, buy into a good fundemental company and sit on it.. I'll hold this at least a year, taxes won't be nearly as bad and I have no doubt it will be trading well over .25 by next year, but I like Quest's $1.00 expectations better LOL.

Next week should be fun, charts are looking better and PR should be out, then we have the 10Q a few weeks later, I expect those numbers to be good as well. Combine all of this with the float #'s and we have a winner here!

why CLBE? and why now?

CalbaTech Announces Increase in Revenues to $412K, Company Posts a Net Profit in First Quarter, Expects Net Profit in Current Fiscal Year

James DeOlden, CalbaTech CEO, said the Company "anticipates that revenues will continue to increase significantly from operations in the coming year because two subsidiaries, Molecula, Inc. and KD Medical, Inc., have combined their operations to be more efficient and these subsidiaries are moving into a new facility that will increase and improve manufacturing capabilities, and will create new custom product offerings to the National Institutes of Health, as well as major universities and pharmaceutical companies.

Also why now... if you read the last letter to shareholders you would have read the CEO talking about pro forma projections point to CLBE stock being heavily undervalued right now, if we get some substance in the next PR this should go like a rocket. We know the press release is coming very soon. I guarantee you CLBE is on everyones microcap watchlist since all of the attention on the forums and the recent 400% run, when the PR and 10Q hit the streets I think we can expect .20 or more, it really wont take much buying pressure to get this up over .20 as this is a very low floater. Email from CLBE, obviously they want the PR to have a good effect so expect the PR early next week!

Am working with them on the language in a release. Won't be today; Friday is for bad news.

Isn't CLBE on the SHO list? If this runs on PR the shorts will be forced to cover.

We emailed Paul last Friday, he was finishing up the highly anticipated PR.. It sounded like they were ready to release it Friday but planned onholding off as Friday is for bad news... We should hear from the company this week for sure. This has run on no news, when the news hits I expect the price to move quick.

Here is Pauls response from Friday:

New survey shows Golden State is magnet for stem-cell researchers
By Malcolm Maclachlan

E-mail article
(published July 21st, 2006)
One of the promises made by proponents of Proposition 71 was that it would turn California into a Mecca for stem-cell research. According to a new study from Princeton University, this promise is starting to come true.

A survey of medical researchers published on July 13 in the academic journal Nature Biotechnology shows three trends that are likely music to the ears of Proposition 71 supporters. First, stem-cell researchers are more likely to get job offers than other researchers. Second, those offers are disproportionately likely to come from California. Third, California jobs appear to be a major factor in keeping many stem-cell researchers from leaving the country altogether.

One-third of the domestic job offers are for positions in California. Massachusetts comes in second, representing about 10 percent of job offers.

"We've heard a lot of anecdotes about people leaving the country or going to California," said Aaron Levine, a Ph.D. candidate in public affairs at Princeton who focuses on science and technology issues. "We wanted to provide at least some hard data."

That hard data is based on surveys of 378 stem-cell researchers and 1,029 other medical researchers around the country. The study found that stem-cell researchers were 1.6 times more likely than other medical researchers to have gotten a job offer in the past year. They were 5.3 times more likely to have received an offer from outside the country, and 7.5 times more likely to have offers for jobs both in the United States and abroad.

"The data presented here indicate that many stem cell scientists are considering moves to California, and suggest that resolution of the ongoing litigation blocking distribution of the Proposition 71 funding may trigger significant migration to the state," writes Levine in his conclusion.

Voters passed Proposition 71 in November 2004 to provide $3 billion for stem-cell research. While it appears that Proposition 71 will survive numerous legal challenges, the money still is tied up in the courts. On Thursday, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger ordered the state to lend $150 million to the California's stem-cell institute so that it could begin distributing research money. The announcement came one day after President George W. Bush vetoed a bill that would have expanded federal support of stem-cell research.

Levine's findings are backed up by California's stem-cell-research institutions, which, in recent months, have been boasting of the talent they have been able to attract. In February, Institute for Stem Cell and Tissue Biology at the University of California, San Francisco, announced it had recruited three sought-after young researchers from the likes of Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

However, Levine notes that the report doesn't prove that Proposition 71 is causing the migration. However, it "strongly implies that policy played a role," he said, particularly in contrast to states like Michigan. The University of Michigan's Center for Stem Cell Biology has lost several researchers in the wake of bills that limit research, which were passed by religious conservatives.

"It's no surprise that stem-cell researchers are going where the money is," said Jesse Reynolds, program director at the Center for Genetics and Society. Reynolds has been one of the biggest critics of Proposition 71. He said that he supports stem-cell research, but said that the campaign was sold on false promises of huge financial returns directly to the state.

Senator Deborah Ortiz, D-Sacramento, noted that California has been attracting top stem-cell researchers since long before Proposition 71 passed in 2004. Arnold Kriegstein, director of the UCSF Institute, came in 2003 from Columbia University. Larry Goldstein of the University of California, San Diego, arrived from Harvard in 1993.

"I think Prop. 71 has certainly had an impact," said Ortiz. "But remember, Prop. 71 has yet to put out a penny of research money."

Ortiz sponsored a successful bill in 2002, SB 253, which explicitly legalized stem-cell research in California. She said the bill was inspired by two events. The more well known was President George W. Bush's August 2001 decree that limited federally funded stem-cell research to "existing lines." The second was a subsequent attempt by Senator Sam Brownback, R-Kansas, to pass a bill that would criminalize not only stem-cell research, but also U.S. citizens seeking stem-cell therapies in other countries. Ortiz said it was important to take strong action in order to make sure the nation's stem-cell researchers did not all flee to stem-cell hot spots overseas, such as Korea, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.

"California has played an important role in preventing international migration," Levine said. "Given a choice, most scientists would prefer to stay in the country."

More recently, Ortiz has become known for her battles with California's top stem-cell official, Robert Klein, over her efforts to increase government oversight of the state's new stem-cell agency. Klein was the main force behind Proposition 71 and is now chairman of the Independent Citizens' Oversight Committee for the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine.

But it's money that counts, said Klein, not just legalizing research. He noted that the two other states with a disproportionate amount of stem-cell jobs were New Jersey and Massachusetts, which have pledged $390 million and $100 million, respectively. He also said that even without the Proposition 71 money, researchers in California have access to $200 million in mostly private funding.

"You see a tremendous disparity between states that have supportive legislation and states that have stable, long-term sources of funding," Klein said.

UCSF's Kriegstein said that Proposition 71 could prove to be a tremendous boon to researchers. But, in the meantime, he said they have been ramping up with private money, much of it from high-tech sources. This includes $5 million from Intel co-founder Andy Grove and $16 million from Ray Dolby, founder of Dolby Labs.

Such aggressive fund raising is necessary, partially because Bush's "existing line" policy is making it more expensive for them to do stem-cell research, even without federal money, Kriegstein said. They generally are barred from using equipment and buildings paid for with National Institutes of Health money for research, forcing them to develop new facilities.

"I can be done--provided you want to scrupulously account for every single expense," Kriegstein said. "We decided that would be a nightmare to do."

shares are only going to get tighter and with already over 24,000,000 insider restricted and per the last 10-Q only 95 mill total OS this could easily break out big time into the high .20's or more but IMO this is going to be a major investment for the long haul.

from the other board!

I would like to make a point that I think a lot of mildly dissapointed people are missing. This stock has a very small float. On friday we were in the .05's most of the afternoon and closed in the green. Most, if not all of those shares are no longer available. Now we are seeing more consolodation in the .06's today. This is a good thing. It is raising our support levels. Now IMO is a great time to buy becasue of these support levels. When we all invest our money, we want to do so in a stock that has limited risks. This is a perfect example of a stock with limited risks and great potential. This stock will easily see the .09's this week very soon. That is almost a 50% gain from our current levels. If you were to invest 4k and make a 50% gain, that is $2,000. IF you could do that every week you'd be making a $100,000 a year. Why shoot for the moon every week and strike out, when consitant base hits win the ball game. I personaly think we will hit the .14's on a major run this week. That is just my opinion, but I tend to be right 90% of the time , so take that as you will. The market is volatile. Take advantage of that. Also remeber, the grass always seems greener on the other side of the fence until you take the time to look down at your feet and notice your own amazing lawn. As always, patiene is a virtue. Keep the happy thoughts going. Positive thinking. And throw on some green socks like me for a bit of good luck! Good Luck Everyone.

Why CalbaTech (OTC BB: CLBE) Wants To Store Your Stem Cells

Fat stem cells turned into muscle in experiment
Research could repair hearts, other organs
July 24, 2006
WASHINGTON - Stem cells taken from human fat can be transformed into smooth muscle cells, offering a way to treat many kinds of heart disease, gastrointestinal and bladder ills, U.S. researchers are reporting.

Their study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, is the latest to show that fat can be a rich source of the body's master cells.

"Fat tissue may prove a reliable source of smooth muscle cells that we can use to regenerate and repair damaged organs," said Dr. Larissa Rodriguez, an assistant professor in the Department of Urology at the University of California Los Angeles medical school.

And almost any American has plenty of spare fat cells.

Rodriguez and colleagues incubated adipose-derived stem cells in a nourishing mixture of growth factors, human proteins that encouraged the cells to become smooth muscle cells.

The researchers said scientists have been looking for sources of smooth muscle for organ repair and treating heart disease, gastrointestinal diseases and bladder dysfunction.

"A major obstacle for such an approach has been finding a reliable source of healthy smooth muscle cells that can be safely harvested and that requires minimal manipulation," they wrote.

One approach has been to take a patient's own cells from an organ. But studies have shown that stem cells taken from a diseased organ are also damaged and do not work well when scientists try to grow them in the lab for a transplant.

Transplants grown from a patient's own fat could be used with no need for anti-rejection drugs, Rodriguez said. Smooth muscle cells have been produced from stem cells found in the brain and bone marrow, but acquiring stem cells from fat is much easier, she added.

Why put all efforts into embryonic research when you can get virtually everyone who currently objects on board by promoting adult stem-cell research instead? We seldom hear the truth, that any advances realized from embryonic stem-cells for curing diseases would be achieved well into the future.

It may well be that the embryonic variety of stem cells has greater long-tern potential, but the adult cells have already shown positive results.

one of our members contacted Paul concerning a question about CLBE's convertable debt (CD) and heres the reply and it does make sense as to yesterdays action. And at least CLBE is down to only 1 mill shares at the most and thats if yesterday wasn't the shares.

I just got an email from Paul.....asked him the same question yesterday and he got back to me finally:
<<
As of the last filing, there was approx 1M left on the debentures, as reported. We'll have to wait for the next 10Q for an update.

Paul
>>

And there was 1M shares dumped yesterday!
Do you think that was it?

Fat stem cells turn into muscle in experiment

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Stem cells taken from human fat can be transformed into smooth muscle cells, offering a way to treat many kinds of heart disease, gastrointestinal and bladder ills, U.S. researchers reported on Monday.

While the experiment does not quite offer a way to turn a pot belly into a flat stomach, the researchers said the transformed cells contracted and relaxed just like smooth muscle cells.

These cells help the heart beat and blood flow, push food through the digestive system and make bladders fill and empty, the researchers reported.

CLEAN, HEALTHY FAT

One approach has been to take a patient's own cells from an organ. But studies have shown that stem cells taken from a diseased organ are also damaged and do not work well when scientists try to grow them in the lab for a transplant.

Transplants grown from a patient's own fat could be used with no need for anti-rejection drugs, Rodriguez said. Smooth muscle cells have been produced from stem cells found in the brain and bone marrow, but acquiring stem cells from fat is much easier, she added.

The stem cells found in fat are known as multipotent stem cells. They can produce a variety of cell and tissue types, but are not as flexible as embryonic stem cells.

Last week, President George W. Bush vetoed a bill that would have broadened federal funding of human embryonic stem cell research, saying he preferred that researchers pursue so-called adult stem cells, such as those used at UCLA.

Many groups have been looking to fat as a source of stem cells. In April, Cytori Therapeutics Inc. said it was starting a clinical trial to test whether stem cells derived from fat can be used to regenerate breast tissue.

Other researchers have been trying to get stem cells from liposuction specimens.

First of all heres my personal interest in this stock:

Had 26K shares * 0.0355
Sold 10K * 0.065
Sold 16K * 0.075

Yeah I wished I would have held to 0.10 but I still made money. I knew that PR we just saw would be awhile and I was right. After the over 10c hit I waited for a pullback to support levels. I bought in 50K at mid 0.05s and now realizing I should have waited a little longer.

Although I do admire Questsolvers relentless pursuit to keep interest in CLBE, I realize that the lackluster PR w/r/t the delayed--> now mid August opening has caused this much needed consolidation level we are observing.

I just checked my e-mails and it seems the convertable debts may have indeed caused this!!! It also seems they are either done or trying to finalize it!!

Hank: Please know a couple things. This is a company started by two young (albeit experienced) entrepreneurs with keen business and scientific minds. They are in it for the long haul. This is not a company that is going to issue press releases just to keep some day traders happy and interested. If you are looking for that, you won't find it here.

The stock sank because of a toxic financing (my words) and work is being done to repair that.

"Why CalbaTech (OTC BB: CLBE) Wants To Store Your Stem Cells"?

I would prefer to see something like "why someone should invest in CLBE" and give guidance and reasons for investing. I am part of a consolidated group of investors (now over 15,000 members) that are really looking for REAL investments and lately CalbaTech has not really supported the investment community at all. A month between PR's (and no 8-k supporting them) and now a PR that the more I read sounds like they just threw something together more as a sales pitch since they are giving away a coupon with no true value attached. If the company is all they say it is then why is it now back down to a nickel per share? I know you have to understand our frustration towards what's happening.
