I realize that I will be paying CG on
profits come April. The 2K that I started
with was fun money. So my measure is my
Amritrade Liquidation Value. I put in
a one time deposit of 2K 15 Months ago
and have been learning about trading
since I started. I do not have any plans
to divert any money until I reach 20-30K
mark. I have a technique that I have been
working on (paper) for years. To make it
work I needed a bit more than 2k. Then
started to have success with the stock
picks on the lower $ range. So once I hit
the 20K mark then I plan to segment in 5K
chunks. Then will try different techniques.
I'm getting a later start than some. I
served 12 years in the military where it
was hard to make ends meet with a family.
Then have spent the last 6 years building
career and a small nest egg for retirement.
My wife and I have about 60K in retirement
accounts so far but do not want to put
at risk.
I got the kitchen pass for the 2k. So
trying to build gradually but aggressively.
bought 470,000 of ibzt at .0049 sold same day .0069 there is anouther g right there!!!! lol
My hat is off to you. I wish you continued
good fortune man.
I am a bit slow on this. Trying not to
gamble too much and don't have the time
working 60+ a week. So doing as much
research as I can then trying to pick
good longer term plays so I dont have to
constantly monitor. Once I buy I put in
a limit on the sale immediately. (1/2 at
the double and then evaluate the rest based
on the company.)
2pawn,
You are braver than I. If I lose everything
I have still only lost 2k since it was fun
money to begin with.
Hope you are not looking to tie all 21K in
the penny stocks. Good Luck.

Putting your money on the line changes everything. You can know almost everything there is to know about a company, the technicals of it's charts, etc.. but the game has changed. By human nature our emotions and our attachment to money will cloud your mind. Everything you learned in the books or your research can be pushed aside in your mind when you are dealing with your money.
This is why experience is so important. When you can learn how to supress these feelings, when you can ignore your "gut" feelings, ignore the hype by others on the internet, and know when and where to get out of a position, only then will you be truely successful.
There are a lot of people here who have made a great deal of money. Unfortunately, a lot of these people have done so by mere luck, or by doing what other people are doing or say they are doing. This will give you a false sense of success. Yes, the $$$ shows success, but this won't last forever. The people who may be followers will continue to follow people, expecting big gain after big gain, not really understanding what is going on. Eventually, someone will have a bad pick, and dozens of people here who have been making money may lose thousands, or tens of thousands of dollars.
All of the trading tools in the world, all of the books you may have read, mean nothing if you do not have experience in the market and the experiencing of learning how to take losses and make your own decisions.
That is my 2 cents worth. You can judge yourself by making fast money and say hey I'm doing really good, I am successful. Well, before anyone gets too confident you really need to look at things carefully, because as quickly as this money has come to you, it can all dissapear even more quickly if you lack experience.

Actually this is the wrong board if you are a serious investor. These guys use very few of the available resources to trade.I am here to learn what they may offer. I have played with 4or 5 pennys but the vast majority of my money is elsewhere. You seem to be searching and I can help. I will look for a post on "GENERAL" from you and we can move to the proper board from there. I will lay out how I got started and we can move thru some strategy from there.
VAN
Van... would you like one more student? I've
been doing this for just over a year and would love a strategy of my own... thanks

i tell you this not to brag, but to encourage the young investors to stay at it and don't give up or blow your windfall gains. keep building diversity. it is the most important key. i arrived in alaska in the late 60's with an uncashed $32 income tax return check, a few small bills and part interest in a dodge power wagon that was repossessed a few months later. i have been comfortably retired since 1989 at 44, but still love to keep stirring the pot. it all started with a few simple investments, and knowing how to work lots of hours and live lean. had i had the internet and the ability to trade like i do now, wow, i can't imagine what would have happened.
so no matter how grim the economy or your portfolio looks, stick with it, and listen to everything. you will soon know what is sh*t and what is shinola.
last, but certainly not least, don't forget to give back to the world that presented you with the incredible gift of life and opportunity. there are billions that don't have the crumbs we drop. it doesn't have to be money. what happens here to help newcomers get a handle on how to do this right is wonderful to be a part of. you will be surprised how many opportunities and doors to success will open up through generosity and kindness. getting to know the needy in my community has introduced me to the wealthy and powerful members of the community.
2003 was a great year and my cyber friends here on allstocks certainly added to it in many ways. thank you all.

thanks and good luck to you. thanks for helping keep the tone of this board positive and peacefull.

Thanks to everyone. I started my first trade in nov'03 with $2k and my first investment was USTT @0.28 (co-workers) recommedation.
What a blow, I almost lost everything , my 2k became $800.
Then I was searching message boards, I found this one , decent and honest.
I invested in PGHI at 0.02 ( Mach and Matchbow)
. Within 1 monhs, I got back my $2k.
Lot of interesting facts i learned thru this board, I put my question here, I will get honest answer.
So far I am protecting my investment & learning.
God Bless everone.

understanding of the chart http://www2.barchart.com/learning.asp?&code=BTAB
---------------------------------------
Learning Center
- Williams PRO-GO Indicator
This indicator has two lines. The Public Buying (green line) at the beginning of the day and the Professional Buying (red line) at the end of the day.
This technique is to create two Advance/Decline lines.
The Public Advance/Decline line is constructed by using the change from yesterday's closes to today's open.
The professional Advance/decline line is constructed by using the change from today's open to today's close.
The lines are calculated by taking a moving average, normally 14-days, of the results.
This study is only for daily charts and can be used to highlight divergences between the Professional Advance/Decline (red line) and the price. The common interpretation of this study is if the Professional line (red) goes below the Public line (green) it is a sell signal and if the Professional line (red) goes above the Public line (green) it is a buy signal.

Nitro-congratulatons you are more than halfway thru the most dangerous phase of learning to trade. Maybe even farther than that if you have been able to stay even this early-Just remember that as your confidence builds you need to retain perspective. Overconfidence is more dangerous than too little.
