I've been bouncing back and forth between my stock/option account and futures account. I've made 360% more in futures over the same duration in stocks. I trade raw commodities "oil, gas, wheat, sugar" but have lately been trading S&P 500 futures, merely betting which direction the market will go. The leverage is amazing, but definitely not for the faint hearted. Anyone else trade futures?

Is it as tough as trading currencies?

Exactly like that. For instance, every one contract you buy "S&P 500", every .25 basis point move is a $12.50 move. If you move a full point its $50. The leverage is amazing. Each contract is whatever the S&P is trading at. if it S&P 1000 it would be $1000. I typically will trade up to 20 contracts at a time. I’ll only go that extreme if there are major numbers coming out "PMI, JOBs, or geo-political fears etc... Great trading.

When i opened one of those practice trading accounts for currencies, i played with them for quite awhile.
For months i tried different ways of trading and i always seemed to end up in the minus, so then i started trading just the opposite way i thought they should go.
That didn't work either so i decided it wouldn't be in my best interest to open a real account.
The money can sure disappear fast with all that leverage.
Guess i couldn't do any worse practice trading futures.
