Both of these stocks have surged for a couple of days, DSTI up nearly 20% today and DSTIZ near 60% today. Both are named DayStar Technologies Inc. How are they related and why would one go up 3 times as much as the other?

And wouldn't you guess, I played the lesser.

On NASDAQ (or NYSE), the fifth letter of a stock symbol usually has a special meaning. "Z" means "miscellaneous situations" .. you can read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ticker_symbol

The usual way of things would be that DayStar would trade as DSTI, then as DSTIZ.. but not as both at the same time. Truly a miscellaneous situation [Smile]

Yes. Z is the warrant. It can be a good trade or daytrade though. Much better than DSTI, imo.

I personaly haven't done this, but you can trade the symbol for the warrants too. The only thing is the warrants expire, so as long as you know the dates and just trade them. You can make money.
