Novamex USA Ltd. is pleased to announce that it has
retained the Montreal based firm of VetConsul Inc. to complete a
commercialized version of its test to detect BSE, "Mad Dow Disease".
VetConsul Inc., whose expertise is concentrated in the area of
rapid test development, is headed by Dr. M. Achacha, DVM, M.Sc., who
holds a Ph.D. in Veterinary Microbiology and Immunology from the
University of Montreal. The VetConsul team will be completing the
development of a Rapid Diagnostic Pre Mortem "BSE CHECK test" which
will be performed directly on serological samples. This
state-of-the-art technology will yield rapid results without the need
to first slaughter the animal. The Novamex "BSE CHECK test" will use
an antigen-monoclonal antibody reaction.
After completing the commercialized "BSE CHECK test", Novamex will
work with regulatory bodies in both Canada and the USA, to register
the product for distribution, which is expected to take place later
this year.
