A glass orb that could change the future of solar energy.

Its a cool idea. Depending on large lithium ion batteries is a tough one though.

it is very cool, but i am afraid it is only artwork.

the cost *in energy* to make a glass marble that size, especially one that is optically efficient, is ridiculous. i watched some guys make one half that size that was not "optic quality" and they really struggled.

mechanizing it would not cut the energy costs associated with it.

when you figure that once made, it should last over 100 years, it can eventually become energy efficient, but nobody in the USA looks at that sort fo business model right now.

we have a more serious problem right now. we need something like this system to decentralise energy production for security reasons.

this was kept very quiet when it happened *last spring*, and i didn't belive the story at first, but apparently it is confirmed at congressional levels.

why was it kept so queit? and what can we do to make substations safer? we can't- we can only add redundancy and decentralisation to the system...

remember the NOLA superbowl blackout? i wonder now if it was not also a sniper attack...
