BREAKING: Walker Recall Effort Delivers More Than 1 Million Signatures | Activists working to recall Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) filed petitions today with more than 1 million signatures to the state, close to double the almost they needed to begin the recall process and force Walker to stand for reelection in November. If successful, it would be the first gubernatorial recall in Wisconsin history, and only the third in U.S. history. The number of signatures comes close to the 1,128,941 votes Walker received, and was far more than the 540,000 needed.

Gov. Scott Walker To Use Foreclosure Settlement Money To Balance His Budget, Not Help Homeowners

By Pat Garofalo on Feb 10, 2012 at 10:45 am

Yesterday, 49 states joined the federal government in announcing a $26 billion settlement with five of the nation’s biggest banks over the banks’ foreclosure fraud abuses. The money from the settlement is meant to aid homeowners who lost their homes to foreclosure or who find themselves underwater, meaning they owe more on their mortgage than their home is currently worth.

However, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) — whose high profile assault on workers’ rights has prompted a recall effort against him — isn’t planning to use the money to help homeowners. Under the terms of the settlement, Wisconsin is set to receive $140 million, $31.6 million of which comes directly to the state government. And Walker is planning to use $25.6 million of that money to help balance his state’s budget:

Of a $31.6 million payment coming directly to the state government, most of that money – $25.6 million – will go to help close a budget shortfall revealed in newly released state projections. [Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen], whose office said he has the legal authority over the money, made the decision in consultation with Walker.

“Just like communities and individuals have been affected, the foreclosure crisis has had an effect on the state of Wisconsin, in terms of unemployment. … This will offset that damage done to the state of Wisconsin,” Walker said.

A memo from Wisconsin’s Legislative Fiscal Bureau released yesterday notes “it is anticipated that Wisconsin will receive $31.6 million. Based on discussions between the Attorney General and the administration, of the amounts received by the state, $25.6 million will be deposited to the general fund as GPR-Earned in 2011-12, and the remaining $6 million will be retained by the Department of Justice to be allocated at a later date.”

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett (D) criticized Walker’s move, saying “not one dime [of the settlement] should be used to fund the unbalanced state budget.” Adding insult to injury, Walker has previously criticized using one-time settlement money to fill budget holes.

The settlement money already doesn’t come close to addressing the depths of the nation’s housing problem, though it will provide real relief to the people whom it does reach. But the money was certainly not intended to paper over state budget problems, particularly in a state whose governor assured everybody up and down that busting his state’s public unions was the key to fiscal solvency. Mickey Mouse, Adolf Hitler Petitions for Recall of Wis. Gov. Walker?

“Mickey Mouse” and “Adolf Hitler” will be counted as among those who petitioned for the recall of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, declared the Government Accountability Board (GAB) on Tuesday.

http://www.christianpost.com/news/mickey-mouse-adolf-hitler-petitions-for-recall -of-wis-gov-walker-64969/

Nothing but the best and brightest huh?

Union threatens boycott of any business that doesn't show support

"It's kind of like the old protection racket," he said;'If you have the right sticker, we won't break your knees.' This is beyond the pale to force a small-business person to choose when they want to stay neutral. But that isn't good enough."

The above link is NOT Fox News. So you have the freedom to choose what you believe in, but if you dont agree with the local unions then you get harassing phone calls, emails, and boycotts? Then you go around putting Mickey Mouse and Adolf Hitler?

LOL. once again cash, you don't see the irony.

irony is a refined taste, but some things just cannot be refined.

who put down mickey mouse and hitler instead of their own name? a walker supporter of course. ususally th epetitions have 50 or 100 names per sheet, and by putting down a bad name on the sheet, you don't just throw awya the whole sheet, you mark out the bogus ones at verification.... shheeesh

WI. as in all elections may have some horse play in it but the bottom line WI has over a million signatures twice the amount needed. Who signed micky mouse or adolf hitler. I believe walker agents did.

this trick is ancient ray. the game is to only strike the ones that you have to when you submit the petitions and then force the the opposition to pay people to comb thru and challenge the names individually....

if somebody gets caught in the act signing fraudulently, in some places that is a felony. but nobody bothers to waste time trying to prosecute it...

when you go knock on somebody's door? you expect them to be honest and say yes or no, but there's always a wiseass...

when i raced? we always signed other names to the quitclaim form at pit entry, it's an insurance gimmick... the guy who taught me that trick had been signing his name Phil Dirt for 25 years..... One day he got lucky and won the caliming race, and they wrote him his check payable to Phil Dirt and it was funny to all of of us who knew why....

So this is 100% fact? Wow thats interesting, how did you know with such certainty?

fact? cash, you are embarassing yourself now. it's just logical.

the facts are in the article if you read the whole thing;

Walker and the Wisconsin Republican Party have launched a website asking for supporters to submit leads about signatures that should not be counted. This includes any duplicate names. Walker will not be able to see the signatures until after they are submitted.

One man told ABC Wisconsin News that he has signed 80 petitions to recall Walker. According to ABC, the GAB Board’s director said that the legitimacy of signing multiple petitions comes down to “intent.”

"If a person is signing this with the intent of artificially inflating the number of signatures that are going to be turned in, or if they're signing it to argue these petitions are riddled with fraud, because anybody can do this, then they're committing fraud on the process," said Director Kevin Kennedy.

The Republican Party of Wisconsin has come out and said that this is a major issue that needs to be looked out. The Democratic Party responded by saying that they will weed out duplicates before submitting. However, there’s no guarantee that the board will catch duplicates.

In turn, the GAB told ABC that it is up to the office holder to catch the duplicates. Therefore, Walker and his campaign will have to tediously go through the petitions and catch any and all duplicate signatures.

After Walker receives the signatures, he has ten days to make any challenges to the legitimacy of the forms.

welcome to poltiics in America, nothing has changed much in the last 100 years....

I am not saying what you said is NOT true, its half true. Dont you remember what ACORN did? It was enough to have the FBI raid them. Walkers people can have a part, but the other side for sure is up to something.

up to what cash? faking 400,000 signatures? Cause that is what would have needed to happen for it to influence the recall action.

Not everything your opponents do is dastardly, nor is every public movement a conspiracy designed to induce lawlessness.

Poll: Wisconsin's Walker to survive union recall drive

"So much for that recall effort. According to a new Rasmussen poll of likely Wisconsin voters, Gov. Scott Walker should survive an effort to throw out his 2010 election, a campaign driven by pro-union activists angered that he limited collective bargaining rights for public employees in a budget-cutting move."

"A victory in the recall would be a huge blow to liberal union groups who’ve made the Republican governor the GOP posterboy for union busting."

LOL... cash, Rassmusen is one of Ruperts minions...

you have to realise alos that Walker will have to motivate his supporters to actaually go out and vote, while the people that want him gone are highly motivated... 54% is not that good for him

So walker could win, and somehow he doesnt

yes cash it is possible Walker could win.

Do you love me raybond?

not really, all a recall is is a chance to take an elected person out. It is a real humiliation for an Walker just to go thru it.

If he wins then the people have spoke and WI. lives with him.

The thing that I find sad about all this is that the political attacks focus on the money and the unions let em do it.

Quite frankly, Unions should be able to legitimately argue that their fights for wage and benefit increases protect and enhance non union wages via raising the "average job category salary range" which is what a lot of companies use to determine compensation rates.

I think they had a chance to divert this issue away from money and turn it into one about performance. We have all seen the gotcha's of City workers taking excessive breaks or Union workers loafing about and smoking/drinking on breaks. I think if the Union were willing to clean that up by restructuring the employee protection process so accountability for poor behavior was re-instituted it would go a long way toward rehabbing the image of the unionized worker and the role of the union in America.

After Wisconsin Voters Revolt Against GOP Lawmakers, GOP Lawmakers Approve Amendment Preventing Recall Elections

By Ian Millhiser on Mar 8, 2012 at 11:30 am

The Wisconsin GOP has not worn well with that state’s voters. Two GOP senators were removed from office last year in a recall election, and as many as four more could lose their jobs this year — along with the state’s anti-union Gov. Scott Walker (R).

Rather than accept that these mass recalls are a sign that they should abandon their current policies and pursue effort that won’t incur such ire from the electorate, however, the Wisconsin GOP has decided to pursue a very different tactic — changing the rules of the game:

In the face of an expected recall election targeting Gov. Scott Walker and four Republican state senators, the Wisconsin state Assembly voted Tuesday to amend the state constitution to make it more difficult to toss an official from office.

The measure, which still faces major hurdles before taking effect, would allow officeholders to be recalled only if they have been charged with a serious crime or if there is a finding of probable cause that they violated the state code of ethics. . . .

Republican supporters, including the amendment’s sponsor Rep. Robin Vos, R-Caledonia, argued changes are needed to limit recalls given the flurry of such efforts over the past year. Republicans have said Walker and the others are being unfairly targeted simply for doing their job.

For the record, Scott Walker’s job is to serve the very people who have decided that he is doing such a terrible job of it that he needs to be fired immediately.

I dont agree with messing with a states constitution unless it is really needed.

The people of Wisconsin DID vote in Gov Walker in an election, and there was a reason why.

It's simple CCM. They want to prevent "We the People" from having the capacity to remove a Governor. That is a right that is well established. Doesn't matter if it's DEM or GOP. That right should not be infringed. IMO

We the people elected the governor. How else would he get into the governors mansion? The bigger picture here is the budget and getting things back out of the red.

Scott is a liar and if this works it will show our elected officials not to lie about the platform that they run on.

Delivering On Job Creation Promises

By Pat Garofalo on Mar 9, 2012 at 4:55 pm

One year ago on Sunday, Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI) — who is the subject of a recall effort — signed into law his high-profile union-busting bill. As he was preparing to sign the bill last year, Walker said that the law would help boost job creation in Wisconsin. “Moving forward the hard-working, professional public sector employees who show up to work every day and do an excellent job will help ensure Wisconsin has a business climate that allows the private sector to create 250,000 new jobs,” Walker said.

However, reality hasn’t been as kind as Walker’s rhetoric:

Wisconsin added thousands of jobs in January but Gov. Scott Walker is still far off pace for delivering on his promise to create 250,000 new private-sector positions by the end of his first term, according to state labor data released Thursday…The data shows Wisconsin added only 6,000 private sector jobs overall during the first 13 months of Walker’s administration, putting him on pace to create only 24,000 jobs by 2014. The governor issued a statement conceding there’s “a lot of work ahead of us.”

Not only has Walker’s union-busting law not led to the job growth he promised, but it also hasn’t led to the sort of budget savings he’d estimated. In fact, Wisconsin school administrators lambasted Walker for saying that school districts were in good financial shape after he signed the union-busting bill. “Contrary to news reports, school districts are not in good financial shape so whoever is saying that, it is not accurate,” said Greenfield School District Administrator Conrad Farner.

In addition, the argument can be made that the jobs Wisconsin did add while Walker was governor all came while his predecessor’s budget was still in effect.
